  • "We were a party of 7 and had a great stay in lovely Hafodty!"

The property is off the beaten track but still within easy reach of Conwy, we loved locking up for the evening and enjoying the absolute peace and quiet and waking up to amazing views! The property itself was immaculately clean with lovely beds and bedding and was well stocked with crockery, glasses etc. I would highly recommend this lovely property!

  • "Just returned from a lovely week at Hafodty."

The house is welcoming and cosy. Ideal for a family, we were 9 - 6 adults and 3 children. The grounds were safe for the children and they loved the cows and sheep in the surrounding fields. Had a problem getting to the washing line as the grass was overgrown. A quick phone call to the owners and the area was cleared a few hours later. Problem with the bedroom TV, again sorted by the lovely Helen. In fact the owners were very kind and welcoming. Couldn't do enough for us. We were sorry to leave the beds which were so comfortable. In fact everything we needed was good quality. The only downside, which is why I haven't given a full score on the star rating is the distance from Conway. The roads are very narrow, single track for the most part, which meant when we got home for the day we stayed in, no popping out for the evening. But for all that the views from the property are stunning, photographs don't do it justice, you are so high up its magical. Its a walkers paradise, an experience for children and all of us. Forget the lanes and Hafodty is idyllic.

The track from the lane leading to the cottage was in very good condition. The cottage itself was clean and well equipped. The clearview log burner was used most evenings to keep the chill off- despite it being Whitsun half term. The beds were extremely comfortable with luxurious quilts and bedding. The garden area with barbecue would have been lovely to sit in on a warmer evening. The only thing we felt the cottage could have done with was a shaver point in the bathroom. We all enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much.

  • "We had a lovely stay and enjoyed how rural and secluded the property was having the lambs and sheep entertain us."

Lovely warm home with plenty of space! Even opening 4 gates to get in and out made the stay! At a glance it was generally clean but when looked at closer e.g dropping cutlery under the table or moving furniture to stop kids falling out of beds we noticed it was fairly dirty. Bathrooms weren’t the best either but we chose to see passed this and enjoy all of the positives. We couldn’t get the freezer to work and wished the showers were slightly more powerful. This wouldn’t stop us from coming here again. Beds were super comfortable! Great smart tv, lovely toasty fire, Plenty of parking space, Lots of crockery and cutlery. WiFi was perfect. Plenty of seating in the living room.

Kitchen is well equipped, the living room was comfortable for 8 people and has a large tv and a wood burning stove. Very cosy. To the right of kitchen up a small flight of stairs is a very comfortable double bedroom with an en-suit shower. Through the kitchen to the left on the ground floor is a large double and upstairs is a big double, a good sized twin and a cosy single. All with ample storage and there is a bathroom with a bath and an electric shower. It was ideal for a break sightseeing in North Wales. We visited Caernarfon, Anglesey, Snowdonia, bets-y-cowed, Llandudno and Conwy. Would certainly consider booking again.

Plenty of space for us all to relax and chill out. Gorgeous place. The cottage description does not describe how very isolated the cottage is- this was an amazing surprise, total peace and quiet, as well as outstanding views over the surrounding countryside- only thing we could have asked for is that there is a great map in the green info folder that made the journey there very clear- if this could be sent out before our stay we wouldnt have struggled to find the place!

  • "The cottage was lovely and had everything anyone might need for a perfect stay."

It was overall clean but the shower areas needed cleaning by ourselves before we would use them. The location of the cottage however, was extremely remote. The very, very narrow road to and from the village was quite stressful to travel on as only one car would fit and we had to reverse a fair way a few times to find a spot (someone’s driveway) where we could turn into to allow the other car to pass. After this very long, extremely narrow road, we then had to travel over fields opening and closing 4 gates each time, before we reached the actual cottage! The other problem we encountered was the recycling and rubbish disposal. There were clearly marked bins and plenty of bags in the cottage and that was fine. However, in the information left for us, at the end of the week we were told to put the glass in the top box of the boxes outside the cottage and the food waste in a separate bin etc….these boxes were not outside the cottage - rather they were right at the end of the ‘lane’ which meant driving down, opening and closing 4 gates, struggling with all of this separate rubbish - 5 separate lots!) and when you have to be out for 10 am it’s is a bit fraught getting everything done. We really liked the cottage, the area is lovely, lots to see and do but the bad points, namely the remoteness of the cottage and the chaos with the recycling put a bit of a dampener on things!

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you found disposing of the rubbish to be a problem. I wouldn't expect you to take it to the main gate. Most people leave it outside the back door but the bins hadnt been taken up there on this occasion. Sorry about the inconvenience. We hope you had a lovely stay otherwise . Property Owner

We have found a few issues we would like to make you aware of, as I figure if you are not alerted then they cannot be rectified. The water in bathroom runs yellow ( 2yr old refused to get in the bath) and the bath had a grime ring. Fridge isn’t really big enough for the size of party staying. We found the size of the dining room chairs made it very restricting when eating. Maybe a rear bench would be better . My daughter has severe asthma and her first night she suffered badly as we were unaware that the pillows were feather, perhaps a note on the website would have allowed us to bring her own pillows from home. Lastly and most important was the cleanliness, on the surface it looked extremely clean and tidy, however under and down sides of sofas was a huge amount of food debris and dust (having a small child who drop her toys we discovered this problem). And the crockery and cutlery wasn’t clean enough and we had to wash everything we want to use, including cleaning out the cutlery draw. Once we had done this we relaxed and had a good week. This is the second time I’ve booked a Skye’s cottage and the last one has severe damp and mould on net curtains, it was advertised that the site had a pool and hotel restaurant and when we arrived everything was complete shut down . I do wonder whether you company does random spot checks on the properties you have on your site? I’m wondering whether to bother a third time which is very sad because the areas you have cottages are beautiful. Regards Jackie Bradley (disappointed)

We had a wonderful week here. One warning I would give is that this farm is more remote than you might expect, which is lovely for the peace and quiet, but does make travelling to and from it everyday slightly more challenging. The roads are windy, steep, and not always in the best condition. A small-engine car might struggle with the trip. However, this should not put you off, as the views from the house are stunning, and the roads, whilst difficult, are manageable. Slightly further afield is the larger town of Llandudno, where you can soak up the sun at West Shore Beach or enjoy the views of the Great Orme and Little Orme from the North Shore Beach. The private drive has glorious views over the Conwy Valley.

The farmhouse was built around 1885 by the Penrhyn estate.

It borders on the Carneddau Mountains where you can walk to your hearts content and see the wild horses. The vantage point looks down on the Great Orme,Puffin Island and Anglesey and then you could walk down the fairy glen to the Fairy Glen Hotel where you could have a drink or Sunday lunch but don’t forget to keep some energy for the walk back home.To the far end of the property there is a 12th Century old church which is well worth a visit. There is also a standing stone called Maen Hir the long stone in Hafodty Fields which has been there since the Bronze Age and is protected as an ancient monument.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
