  • "The cottage and the hot tub were lovely, however, the mattress on the bedroom is so damaged, that we could feel all the springs poking through, to the point of being painful."

We decided to leave the night before due to that. One other detail to take into consideration, if you only going for a weekend, bring your own bath rope (these are only provided for week long stays) or bring large towels, as the ones provided are just a tiny bit larger than hand towels, so you can’t really wrap yourself to go in and out of the hot tub. I would definitely recommend the cottage and go back, if the mattress gets replaced as everything else was ok.

The cottage has everything needed in order to cook most meals, has a washing machine and dish washer. The property is attached to the owners house and is situated behind large wooden gates which provide excellent security. Car parking is in an open garage alongside the owner’s vehicle. A most enjoyable stay made so much better by the Karen and Shaun’s friendliness.

The hotub was an amazing addition to the property and was always warm. The property is situated close to most towns such as Hornsea and Bridlington and there is a lovely ice cream parlour not far from the property. Would defo recommend

Also the radiators were not hot enough on their own and needed the wood burner lighting to provide additional heat. As we were out and about every day we didn’t want the hassle of cleaning it out and building it again each night so we didn’t use it. The hot tub was very nice as were the owners.

We were given a very informative tour of the cottage and facilities and were given a complimentary half dozen eggs, biscuits and milk which came in handy. The hot tub was brilliant and the cottage, you couldn't want for anything there was a dishwasher, washing machine and the kitchen as a whole was very well equipped. You have a covered parking space and also key safe near the door. I believe this is essential as I just don't like the idea of taking it with us when out. You are in a gated enclosed area which adds extra security. The one thing that was against us was the weather - rain and high winds but we felt very safe and cosy and quite enjoyed being able to look out at the bad weather. All in all we had a great few days here as a base for exploring the surrounding area. Many thanks.

Location is perfect, in a small village but central to many places to visit. We had a stroll to the local pub but I wouldn't recommend doing it in the dark as there are long sections of the country lane without a footpath you maybe ok with a good torch. Easy option is a taxi. Log burner was also great and would be perfect for colder nights. Bed is big and comfy. If you’re looking for somewhere to just relax and not go out much this is perfect. It is close to a nice beachy walk but be prepared to drive a bit if you can coax yourself out of the hot tub for long enough as there’s little in walking distance. The hosts Karen & Shaun couldn’t have been more hospitable or friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. We didn’t want to leave at the end of the week. This cottage has absolutely everything you could want & more for a self catering holiday. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome pack consisting of fresh eggs (from their own hens) milk, tea, coffee, sugar & lovely biscuits. There is a beautiful log burner which we took advantage of most nights as we didn’t fare well with the weather. The poor weather didn’t spoil our holiday though we went somewhere everyday then came back to the cosy logburner. This cottage is perfectly situated for Hornsea, Bridlington, Scarborough, Bempton, Filey & Flamborough. There are pubs about a mile away in Skipsea & Barmston & its on a bus route too. All info is in a book in the cottage. We had the best nights sleep ever here in the kingsize comfy bed & a huge shower cubicle in the bathroom. I would add that the wifi signal is perfect in the bedroom but weaker in the lounge but was told Shaun is organising a booster for this. It was never a problem anyway as we just made sure we connected in the bedroom when we needed to. An added bonus to this cottage is the fabulous hot tub which we took advantage of & a lovely garden to sit in on sunnier days. Please do book this cottage you will not be disappointed it really does have everything. We will def be back!

The hot tub wonderfull. Everything we needed was there including a endless supply of wood for stove. We struggled to get heating to work properly(electric radiators), we asked for help,we were told they took time to heat up and not to play with them just turn on and off as indicated. During the first night we were so cold and radiators had not got hot what so ever. I searched the Internet for instructions the next morning and found rads had been set at 12 degrees in bedroom and main area no wonder we were cold. The bathroom always was cold. What does not help is the stone floor tiles everywhere except bedroom The shower we never could get very hot water, it was sometimes ok ish at first but got cold before finishing shower. My wife could not entertain a shower and had to old fashion strip wash every day. I would imagine excellent when warmer weather but not when its cold. My wife wanted to go home after after a couple of days we had to stay as had appointment on Wed, but we left next day making a feeble excuse.

  • "Willow Cottage is in a good location in the quiet village of Ulrome."

It has a very peaceful atmosphere day and night. There is a well stocked shop in nearby Skipsea, and Ulrome is relatively close to Bridlington, Filey, etc. There is a lane going from Ulrome to the sea, but coastal erosion is very evident here so there are safer beaches in other nearby villages. The cottage owners live on site (in Ivy Cottage, on Main Street), and they are very pleasant and helpful. Willow Cottage is behind and at right angles to Ivy Cottage, so it isn't visible from the road. On site there is a large, gravelled courtyard, easy parking undercover and very pleasant grounds (including seating in the paddock under the willow trees next to the pond). Friendly chickens and ducklings live in the paddock. Willow Cottage has its own (fenced off) outdoor area, with table and seating, and a beautiful hot tub under a permanent gazebo. Plenty of privacy. The Cottage is well-equipped and certainly spacious enough for two people. There are electric panel heaters, plus a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has WC, washbasin, and a large shower cubicle, and water pressure is very good. Older and/or disabled people please note that there are no grab rails in the shower cubicle, or adjacent to the WC. Narrow doorways would also prevent wheelchair access into and around the cottage. Willow cottage has been sympathetically converted from very old farm buildings. Unfortunately there are two very low interior doorways (5'5" and 5'8") and as hubby is 6'6" and I'm 5'7" this did cause some problems as we were unaware of this before arrival - although I'm loathe to put that it didn't meet our expectations just because of this one feature Apart from this, we had a really enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful holiday.

The kitchen was well stocked, bed was extra comfy and the shower was powerful and hot. The hot tub outside was a treat and easy to use. A lovely wood burner, with wood provided, made the cottage nice and cozy on cold nights in. The only thing I wished was better was the wifi, as it was we could only get a useful signal in the bedroom, and our EE data and mobile phone signal was nonexistent inside the cottage. Cottage was well equipped plus there were extras such as bathrobes. The welcome pack was unexpected with the eggs from the onsite hens. Lovely quiet retreat with dark skies and a sheltered hot tub. Even the car was safely undercover during the storms. Shops within easy reach and beaches accessible when you know how. Cottage very well equipped. Would certainly recommend.

Yes , unfortunately although very clean , the week we stayed the owners was having a kitchen fitted , ( next door) being woke 3 mornings by drilling and screwing wasn’t the relaxing time I’d had in mind , to top that , the church on the other side of us was being renovated , roofers overlooking our hot tub afternoon in the sun wasn’t pleasant ,

Karen is so helpful. Shaun her husband is really kind as well We loved the Hot tub and the log fire and the comfortable seating in the lounge area The bedroom is great and the kitchen is well fitted with lots of cups and plates, cutlery and cooking utensils as well as pans etc - just like home from home etc Think there were about a dozen cups 8 large plates and small plates and dishes - Basically it is incredibly well equipped which is very good. Nice shower and a spacious bathroom The doorways between the rooms are quite low but MIND YOUR HEAD signs are well displayed!!! Dishwasher and washer in the property and Karen left us a couple of tablets for each as well as some eggs from their own hens - so really fresh eggs -beautiful We were there while the Beast from the East was in full flow and so there was lots of snow and it was very cold but we were warm inside We enjoyed the Hot tub, just fantastic sitting in the Hot tub with the snow falling!! There is undercover parking for the car and it all felt very safe and relaxed The property is actually attached to the owners bungalow It is really quiet and as there are no street lights its a dark sky area so the ability to star gaze is really good and we had some great sightings of the moon We took trips out to Hornsea, Bridlington and the time before we ventured up to Scarborough - all within easy travelling distance There are no shops in the village of Ulrome but just on the Hornsea road, couple of miles in Atwick, there is a local shop with a cash machine (free) and local shop provisions A couple of pubs around the area offer some good meals, Post box about a hundred yards down into the village. If you want to walk on the beach take the Bridlington road and then take the road to Fraisthorpe and from there you can walk to Brid, have a coffee and then walk back to your car! Highly recommended
