  • "Ideal for our little break in Whitby - everything we needed, comfy beds and close to harbour - got out of puff coming back up every day but I'm sure that was good exercise!"

  • "We loved our stay in Sea Fret."

The house is really well thought out with all the features you could possibly need. Added bonus was lots of toys for our 1 year old to play with and all of the baby/toddler necessities for any stay - something which is often not included so thank you for that. Really powerful shower, comfy sofas and very soft beds. Lovely, quiet location at the top of a rather large hill. Our only issues were with parking as spaces are limited but we mostly stayed close to Whitby and walked for the majority of our stay but may be inconvenient for anyone staying with mobility issues.

  • "Whilst Sykes Cottages couldn’t have been more proactive and helpful when I had some concerns over the safety of the electrics, sending out an electrician to rectify the issues, when I had a less important issue with the bedroom TV not working due to a broken remote control, I phoned the owner and received a curt response telling me that she would let maintenance know, then hanging up on me."

She sent a text the following morning apologising for being abrupt but I called Sykes and they sent back the electrician. He said the remote was broken and bought a replacement. This worked for the TV but not the DVD which he thinks may be broken or jammed. This was the only DVD player in the house so we could not make use of the plentiful DVDs. Sykes said they would try to sort something before the end of our stay but we didn’t hear anything further. The house was not as clean as cottages I have stayed in previously and had quite a ‘doggy’ smell downstairs which I burned candles to try and clear. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was adequately equipped. The route to the town and beach was down a steep road which was fine for us but could be difficult for less able people and parking was very limited so it meant parking in other streets some of the time. We would not return to Sea Fret and think it may be better suited to people with dogs and small children as it had a travel cot, high chair and child gate.
