  • "The cottage itself is quaint and intriguing with its double aspect windows onto Alnmouth’s Main Street."

However the kitchen is very dated, with no dishwasher and the bed too small and uncomfortable. General maintenance of the proper had not been kept up, with the sitting room ceiling having been replastered in one corner but not repainted . Much of the paintwork was chipped and the whole property needed a thorough cleaning . Other properties often provide generous welcome packs with basic foodstuff like bread and milk and then little luxuries like wine and chocolates. In Strandline even the salt and pepper containers were empty! The overall impression was of owners wishing to make as much money as possible while providing as little as possible for their guests. We would not stay here again.

  • "Strandline is a cute little house, perfect for two."

The views down the street from different angles offer great people (and dog) watching possibilities and what a lovely bustling street it is! Scott’s Deli is fantastic- we watched the coffee queue grow each morning! There are also great pubs and cafés only minutes away. The house is generally comfortable although we felt it could have been cleaner. Nothing terrible, just crumbs and dust etc. but it definitely influenced our first impressions. Strandline has lots of character and suited us well as a base to walk sections of the wonderful Northumberland coast. We would definitely return.

  • "A great little cottage."

Such a good location for the shops, beach, train station and buses. The beach and golf club 5 mins walk. The property was very clean everything you need in it. The only thing I would have liked was a welcome pack, just some milk / bread would be a nice touch as I have had in other places I have stayed. We drove from London which took 7 hours so the local post office was closed when we arrived, so no milk for tea until the morning. Other than that we had a great stay and look forward to booking again next year. Thank you.

  • "The property is in a great location on the main Street in Alnmouth."

We found it lovely & quiet & parking was not an issue. Bed was super comfy with crisp white bedding & fluffy towels provided. Unfortunately the bathroom had sustained a leak apparently the week before & as such we were unable to use the shower hose (we could use the bath) & there was a significant patch in the lounge ceiling which was damaged. As a result the bath tiles had been removed & were not sealed around the bath, but not much you can do I suppose in view of the leak issue at short notice. The kitchen however was a great disappointment.. it was very tired & more importantly I found it not very clean.. There were silverfish on a plate which I removed from the cupboard & a woodlice on the wall & a couple of spiders on the wall.. it totally put me off going in the kitchen. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Alnmouth, this will be our 5th visit . Re the accommodation on this occasion, I feel it needs some good old tlc & a new kitchen .

  • "Our stay at strandline cottage was comfortable, very clean and warm it’s position in the village is brilliant."

We did have a initial problem with the hob and maybe a set of instructions would have helped

  • "Cottage is very nice."

Sofa as others have mentioned is uncomfortable. We found we needed to light the wood burner every day in the afternoon as the 1 radiator in the open plan lounge isn’t enough to keep it warm enough when sat . This said maybe a bag of logs etc should be included in the rental during the winter months as we spent a further £30 on logs and kindling

  • "A slightly impersonal feel to the property with items left being pre packed."

No soap at all left, empty cardboard boxes left on living room floor. Overall this is a good property with basic requirements fully met

Dear Martin, Thank you so much for coming to stay at Strandline, Alnmouth. And thank you for your feedback. I am looking into your comments. The housekeepers should have been into the cottage before your arrival and the place should have been spotless, there certainly shouldn't have been empty boxes left at the property. Please can I ask what you are referring to by 'items being left prepacked'? And with regards to the soap, was this hand soap or dish soap and were empty dispensers left behind? Appreciate your time and any further insights you can provide. Warmest wishes, Liam Property Owner

  • "A nice property, spacious and well equipped in a great location."

Alnmouth is a lovely place and we have visited many times, first time in this property,so to make it even better,we suggest the following: The separate toilet has no heating and a window which doesn’t close properly, even in April it was a bit cold! The listing says that fuel is included for the wood burner,it wasn’t,so either the listing should change or fuel needs to be left(probably an oversight) We would stay in the house again so that shows that there is nothing fundamentally wrong.

It is well positioned for access to shops, restaurants, bus stop and the beach. Alnmouth is a true gem with a great friendly buzz about it. Lots of other interesting places nearby to visit.
