  • "We enjoyed our stay at Hallgarth."

A lovely house with a well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds with plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. Sitting areas were comfortable. A problem we had on arrival was quickly responded to and we were given a direct number to call if we needed anything further. We had problems locating the freezer which was in the garage. No easy access after dark for ice as the light was at the other side and the paving stones were unlit and uneven. The house is advertised as having walk in showers but these were quite high and cramped shower cubicles. Whilst the house is listed as dog friendly we were not aware until we got there that dogs were not allowed upstairs..I have no problem with this but it should be clearly stated in the information on the website. I believe that some upgrading is due to happen soon, so please bear my comments in mind. ,

  • "Property was ideal and suited our requirements very well."

The situation and nearness to the beach again was ideal. The property and week would have scored full marks but fell down on 2 very little things - the dish washer tablets left did not last very long and in the end we supplied our own in the main and the hand wash in my room was almost empty to start the week and certainly would not have lasted the week had I not my own. Otherwise you would have got full marks.

Thank you very much for your lovely review. We’re so pleased you liked everything about the house. We can only apologise for the lack of hand soap in your bathroom, an oversight on the part of the cleaners. We note your comment about the number of dishwasher tablets. The policy has always been to provide a few to see guests over the first couple of days. We will however review this with our cleaning team. Kind regards A Property Owner

  • "What an amazing house, a brilliant base to explore beautiful Northumberland from."

The house is very family friendly with a lovely spacious live-in kitchen with a big dining table for everyone to gather round. Bedrooms are all a very good size and three bathrooms meant no queuing for showers when we came back from being in the sea! Everything you need for your stay is provided, including nice towels (though not beach towels) a real home from home. When the boys discovered the table tennis table in the garage lots of competitions ensued, great fun! And thanks for the wine and beer- a nice welcome on arrival. This is our new favourite place.

  • "Great house, real flexibility, plenty of room, well equipped in a perfect location- so close to the beach, as well as the pubs and restaurants in the village."

We've had a fabulous family gathering and definitely recommend staying here. The Ocean Club membership, which comes with the house, is a really nice touch and we enjoyed going for a swim and sauna. The pool is big and there is also a kids pool. Nice cafe for afterwards too! Thank you for having us, one of the nicest houses we've stayed in, plus lots to do and see in the area. We'll be back!!

  • "A lovely house."

Shower heads need cleaning. An outside light for the rear garden would be good for dark nights. We had a problem with the Wi-Fi which was sorted very quickly by the owner of Hallgarth.

Hi, we’re so pleased you loved the house, thank you! Your suggestion of a garden light is a good one and we will look into having one fitted. We look forward to seeing you in Beadnell again soon! Property Owner

  • "Hallgarth is an absolutely superb holiday home which we have been visiting every year for the past 10 years."

We have been proud to share it with family and friends from across the country all of whom have been so impressed with this lovely house and its superb location. They keep asking us when we are going back! Frankly there is nothing we would improve. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and the equipment including bed linen and kitchen utensils etc. are of the highest quality. Everything is spotlessly clean. There is space for everyone and the youngsters have enjoyed the table tennis in the large garage while we, and the dog, have enjoyed the suntrap garden after a long walk along the amazing Beadnell beach which is under 10 minutes walk away. We are now looking at dates for this year and can't wait to return

  • "Another great time had at Beadnell!"

This is our 6th year at Hallgarth (in August) and we love it! The house is very well appointed, a fantastic size and very nicely decorated. The sunny, enclosed, south west facing garden is a lovely place to spend time when we're not on the beach, or exploring the area. The beautiful safe beach is only five minutes away and there are many fabulous walks to great pubs and cafes. The Landings (also 5 minutes away)is a new addition to Beadnell and is a great place to eat drink and generally be merry!! There is so much to do here, something for everyone: coasteering, paddle boarding, beach yoga, horse riding, golf, castles to visit, boat trips to the Farne Islands etc, we're still finding new places to go. Can't wait for next year!

  • "Good location fot touring Northumberland and southern Scotland."

Large property but kitchen would be small if fully occupied. No freezer on listing but there is one and another fridge in the garage. Listing needs amending. Casings for both could do witha good clean. Windows and external doors would benefit from some general maintenance they're stiff to open and lock.

Thank you very much for your helpful feedback, we have asked for the website to be amended to include the fridge and freezer in the garage. The other issues you mentioned will also be addressed. I was surprised by your thoughts on the kitchen! In 10+ years we have rented the house many times to 8 guests, and the size of the kitchen with its large extending table has often been commented on as perfect for catering for everyone! We hope you will revisit the beautiful Northumberland coastline again soon. Kind regards Andrea Property Owner

  • "This is a really lovely detached house and it's in a stunning location only a few minutes from the beautiful beach."

It sits on a corner site and doesn't back directly onto another house so there is a sense of space and light all around. It's also a very quiet place, only traffic is to the surrounding houses (and there are not many of them) The house is spacious and very pleasantly decorated. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a lovely sunny enclosed garden with patio furniture to enjoy eating in the sunshine. Can't fault the house, or the area, so beautiful and lots of amazing things to see: castles, islands with seals and puffins, stunning scenery all around.

  • "We had a lovely 2 week break in Hallgarth."

The home is well laid out and has all the facilities needed. However, cleanliness was an issue there were bins unemptied with used make up wipes, we had to purchase our own towels as the ones provided smelt of damp and a lot of the cooking tools were also unclean.

Hi Heather, I'm really sorry we have not responded to your comments earlier, a breakdown in communication between my husband and I I'm afraid! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at Hallgarth but were sorry to hear that you had some issues. Our cleaning company have been made aware of this and so we hope there will not be a problem in the future. We used to supply towels on request and that did not happen very often, so I can only assume the towels had been put away before they were fully aired. Since your visit we have changed our policy and we now provide all guests with towels every week. This has resulted in us replacing all of the towels with luxury Egyptian cotton ones so I hope, if you come again, you will be happy with our new additions! For future reference we have left a telephone number in the house so if there are any housekeeping issues these can be resolved. We hope to welcome you back to our holiday home sometime in the future, Kind regards Andrea Property Owner

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
