  • "A very welcoming and comfortable cottage."

A few details were dusty, eg the plastic plants, inside lampshades. The important things, bathroom, kitchen, were beautifully clean. We hope to return.

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful short break in Godwit Cottage."

The secluded location was perfect with direct beach access to the amazing beach & coastal path. The cottage was really cosy and had everything we needed. An ideal location for dog lovers with your own back yard leading onto a communal enclosed lawn & deck area. We’ll definitely be staying with Stableford Cottages again!

  • "Cottage was very well equipped and comfortable with a lovely small kitchen separate dining area (Godwit cottage) downstairs bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower."

The log burner was used most nights which made it feel very cosy. Beautiful old cottage renovated with a lovely modern finish with lots of charm. The location is fabulous overlooking the sea and 2 minutes walk great for dog owners and nature lovers. The only issue was the stairs which were very narrow and the last 3 steps especially the last step is too narrow so caution was required not to slip off the last step. We had a fabulous week enjoying Bamburgh (walk is about 45 mins part of which is off the beach because of rocks on the beach but the top path through golf club is quicker. Cragside and Holy island within short drive and are well worth a visit. Would highly recommend Heather cottage.

  • "Lovely location, perfect for exploring the Northumberland coastal area and beyond."

The property is adequately equipped, but the cleaning contractors need to be a little more thorough, we found a fish slice in the drawer covered in dried on egg yolk. This didn’t however spoil our stay in what was otherwise a lovely cottage. The welcome pack was much appreciated after our long day travelling.

  • "A lovely property in an idyllic location."

Lovely touches like the wood burning fire and tea / coffee/ biscuits etc in the welcome pack. A small mirror in the second bedroom would be useful.

  • "The cottage is in a fantastic location and we had a really lovely time."

Parking is next to the cottage and so really convenient - no long walks to the car and back. The beach was fantastic for long walks and the scenery from the cottage divine. Lots of places to visit and eat within a short drive on the main road. The Potted Lobster was the best. The cottage is really quaint and comfortable. Best advice for winter travellers is that you need to buy extra logs for the fire (petrol station in Seahouses have loads). Will re visit in Summer as we know there wouldn’t be any better location. We went in a 4 x 4 vehicle and I think the listing should advise that the road to the cottage is a ‘off road’ / ‘farm track’ in case they travel in a more sporty type of car. I would recommend the cottage for a lovely holiday.

The cottage was lovely and clean too, perfect location The only thing to let it down were the terrible beds The main double bed you could feel every spring, we even tried the 2 single beds which were OK but still not brilliant Shame really because otherwise we couldn't fault the place

  • "Excellent property, location is stunning with fantastic views (and sunsets)."

Lovely beach right on doorstep. Fantastic for wildlife around cottage and within Budle bay. So good we’ve already booked in for next year.

  • "A cosy little cottage in an absolutely superb location."

The log burner makes it very homely on cold winter nights.

  • "Wonderful location, easy access to beach."

Well equipped cottage and close to A1.

  • "The location was simply stunning with amazing views over the bay to Holy Island."

The quiet beach was a stone's throw from the accommodation and felt like our own private beach. The accommodation was to a very high standard. I was particularly impressed with the individual cottage outside seating area and communal seating area which gave you chance to chat to other guests and share the day's experiences. Overall, would definitely recommend!

  • "Can't fault the cottage."

Really well equipped kitchen (even a potato masher and cheese grater!) and good range of pans etc. The accommodation was brilliant and very comfortable - with a powerful wood burner and good supply of wood - all great. Very homely. Lots of toys in the garden, nice garden furniture. Unbelievable location with fabulous views - absolutely idyllic! The kids wanted to move in .....

Simply idyllic. Fantastic weather and a beach to ourselves who could ask for more? We will be back, thanks for everything.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
