  • "A pleasant place to stay, with clean linen and towels."

Given the remoteness of the property, it would have been very agreeable to have found a pint of milk in the refrigerator, a few tea bags and a small jar of coffee, perhaps even a "Welcome Pack." That said, the web-site does warn that one needs to take cleaning materials etc. with one.

  • "The Bolthole was very stylish and trendy but lacked love and care."

The TV in the bedroom was missing, main room duvet was too small and thin - a double on a queen sized bed with odd sheets and pillow cases. Why put a brushed cotton winter duvet cover in the bed in summer ? The bedside lights not great for reading ! Some light bulbs missing with the fixtures needing to be checked by a electrician. ( kitchen and bedroom ). The property was well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal with. We did take note about no cleaning materials and brought our own bin bags, dishwasher tablets and solutions. We have never stayed in a property where hand wash was not provided and you had to take glass recycling with you. We did find a recycling bin in a car park on one of our trips out. It would have been good to have a heads up about Sainsbury's home delivery to the property. (It did not appear available in our research) A great base to explore Northumberland.

  • "The location was lovely and peaceful with great views and lots of wildlife."

There were some issues within the property . The door to the kitchen patio was impossible to open and the door to rear patio very stiff. The oven needed a good clean and the washing machine . The bbq was not used as suspect not cleaned by a previous user. The main bedrooms bed had the wrong sized duvet to fit the bed and no tv. There were no wardrobes and hanging space was inadequate. Just needed a bit more tlc.

  • "Amazing location, when you require peace and quiet."

Lovely views from the cottage as you are on the side of a hill. About 20 minutes to the nearest shops, but there is a great pub about 10 minutes away. Never seen so much wildlife, as there is on the country lanes. Full of pheasants, partridges, hares and rabbits. So drive carefully. A very memorable location and happy holiday.

  • "The Bolt Hole is a great cottage."

It is comfortable, warm and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is located fairly centrally for all the areas and places in Northumberland that we like to see. The views from the cottage are lovely, especially on a bright, sunny morning. We’ve stayed there four times and is always where we look to book first when we’re planning another journey to the area

  • "Had a great stay in the Bolthole!"

Generally well equipped, very clean, roomy with loads of nice design features. Fantastic countryside location and view, feels remote but actually only a couple of miles from main road (but trips to Alnwick & coast do need some cross-country driving...Sat-nav to Alnwick took us through a ford that is best avoided after rain!). A few points to note...Wifi was very slow (streaming isn't an option here) and some upkeep is needed (loose cupboard handles, toaster handle broken, missing light bulbs). But still had a good time and would stay again!

  • "The property is stylishly decorated and accessorised."

It provides comfortable accommodation with all the usual facilities - washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and cooker etc. The kitchen door handles seem a bit loose and wobbly so need attention. You are aware about the uneven floor. The grill pan had to be cleaned before I could use it, but the grid came up a lot better in the dishwasher. The washing machine door was rather mouldy. Small points to be addressed. The long drive was very potholed.

  • "The Bolthole is well named - it can be a great retreat."

Great walking in Northumberland Park and along the coast. Very quiet environment. Remote location is great if that is what you are looking for. General location good for access to Northumberland Park and the coast. The property itself is in very good condition. Beds are comfortable. Facilities generally good and there are plenty of decent DVDs.
