  • "Our stay at Godscroft Hall was a truly delightful experience."

Nestled in the peaceful countryside, the hall is full of character and history, offering a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. The rooms are spacious and well-kept, with beautiful period features that add to the overall atmosphere. The beds are made up with very comfortable bedding and so comfortable. One of the highlights of Godscroft Hall is its stunning surroundings. The grounds are picturesque, providing a serene environment that’s ideal for relaxation. Whether you’re taking a peaceful stroll or enjoying the scenic views, it’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our host, Liz, was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, welcoming, and always attentive, ensuring that every need was met with genuine care. Her local knowledge and personal touch made our stay even more enjoyable, and her hospitality added a special warmth to the experience. Another plus is the convenient location of Godscroft Hall. It’s easy to get to Liverpool, with just a short drive away, and in about an hour you can be at the stunning Welsh coast. Frodsham had a delightful Thursday market and plenty of local pubs serving delicious fayre. Whether you're looking for a countryside retreat or planning day trips to nearby cities and coastal spots, this location is ideal. I would highly recommend Godscroft Hall to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable countryside getaway. With its beautiful setting, proximity to key locations, and Liz’s exceptional hosting, it’s the perfect retreat for families, couples, or anyone wanting to unwind in a beautiful and tranquil environment. We will be back.

Liz the owner made contact before our arrival and after to make sure we were okay. She even left us a welcome pack of goodies. The ancient hall was delightful, full of character inc 2 staircases, large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet.very well equipped kitchen. 2 fridges and a freezer. It was a relaxing stay, just to sit outside to watch/listen to the birds flying across the garden. We took a trip to the busy city of Chester, only 2 stops away by train. Other main shopping outlet 15 mins by car. We ate out, loved the Ring of Bells at Frodsham. Plenty of places to walk to. An ideal place to stay with tourists places just a stones throw away, by car or train. Ideal holiday venue. Thank you Liz.

It is a lovely place to stay. It certainly had a wow factor to it - especially the rather grand drawing room. There was only the three of us but would also suit a larger group or a family get together, with plenty of room yet a nice cosy feel. It is in a great location with lots to do in the local area. The owners were great with communication and although we had no issues during our stay I have no doubt any problems would have been sorted quickly - they even helped us with our cars flat battery on our departure! Superb property to stay and highly recommend. Only sad that we had to leave!

This is possibly the largest 3-bedroom house we’ve ever stayed in. It’s also comprehensively kitted out with everything you could need and Liz is on hand to give help and advice if needed. There is also a very pleasant walk right from the doorstep, which is far enough away from the main road to ensure you don’t ever hear road noise. • "Had a 7 night stay at Godscroft Hall with my wife and two children."

The property is as described and pictured and worthy of its high rating and good reviews. The house was really clean and clearly maintained to a high standard - many such places can be a little tired and neglected when used as holiday lets etc, but it was hard to find any problems or issues here. The room sizes are very generous and the garden a really good size and particularly good for the kids to play out in. You can see both the train line and motorway but living near a city centre I can't say the noise ever bothered any of us, and my son is a bit of a train spotter so they were always a welcome sight. It's down a narrow country lane on the edge of town so driving is fairly essential, but parking right by the house was always straight forward. My only very minor quibble was the wi-fi which seemed to be a little patchy and with a family who spend much time online there was the occasional grumble when the signal was lost. However, it was still fairly usable so not a big issue for me. Overall, a really unique property, way bigger than your typical 3 bedroom holiday let, with a great garden area and very much recommended.

Just a few issues, the master had a wardrobe and drawers which was great, but the other rooms lacked space for clothes and towels. The only other issue was the section of the grounds that is not safe for children, and I'm grateful there is a wall around it, but to not be able to leave the children in the garden is the reason I wouldn't return. All in all lovely property, lots of tips and a guide to settle you in. Also left a vanity bag with some expensive makeup - unfortunately, the owners couldn't find it.

Dear Mrs. Asuman. Thank you for your review. There is a spacious wardrobe/drawers in each bedroom, and door hooks for hanging robes/towels. We also have an enormous airing cupboard in the main bathroom and another in the West Wing Bedroom for drying towels. With regard to the garden safety. We can assure you that the garden is completely enclosed and safe for children. We would never advise leaving children of any age in the grounds/garden without parental/adult supervision. We have a section in our Information Pack which emphasises this, and also outdoor signage. I contacted you several times during your stay to ensure you were all happy, and non of these issues were mentioned. If you had, I could have reassured you at the time of your stay. You sent me a text message two weeks after your departure saying you may have left a makeup bag with expensive makeup. We found various items on your departure as per my private email (Medicines, saline, plasters, half used bathroom items) which were disposed of. If I had found anything of value I would have certainly contacted you immediately. With best wishes to your and your family. Property Owner

The property

An 18C Georgian Country Farmhouse on the outskirts of Frodsham, North Cheshire.

A town which enjoys a weekly Thursday market along Main Street, with its specialist shops, popular pubs and wine bars.

This historic character farmhouse is located in open countryside between Frodsham Hill and Helsby Hill, and a short walk from Frodsham Marshes and the Mersey Estuary, which attracts many people for its world renowned bird watching.

Godscroft Hall stands on the site of a medieval water mill.

The remains of the mill pond dam is still in evidence.

The first mention of a water mill on the site dates from 1303.

The mill was still in use in 1844.

Godscroft Hall has been owned by The Warburton Family, who have farmed the surrounding land for four generations.

All the family members live nearby.

The entrance of the property leads into the large Dining Hall.

The interior comprises rooms with character high ceilings or exposed oak beams.

The drawing room is a lovely place to return to after a day’s outing; comfy sofas sit amidst traditional furnishings, open fire and a front-facing window welcomes in the natural light.

For a cosier feel, enjoy a quiet family evening in the Snug, playing board games, watching TV, reading and chilling out.

Follow the grand staircase up to the spacious master bedroom suite, passing the small library area on the top landing.

The second family bedroom is just off the grand staircase and comprises king size bed with two singles. Further along the inner landing you will find a spacious third bedroom comprising a king size bed.

The family bathroom is adjacent. All bedrooms are beautifully presented yet are attuned to the Hall’s authentic feel.

Follow the back stairs down to the spacious well equipped kitchen and pantry area.

There is also a downstairs cloakroom and storage area.
