"Had a lovely weekend for my dad's birthday, I emailed the owners and they put us up some balloons and banners to celebrate, the cottage is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable."
We would definitely return here. Really enjoyed our stay here. Thankyou! Michelle

"Loved the location and size of the house."
It was very well equipped, especially for our 4 kids. Only downside was the mattresses. One in particular, in one of the rooms upstairs, was completely shot and needs replacing. The springs had gone so it was like sleeping straight on the divan. Otherwise everything was excellent.

"It was a lovely spacious property, comfortable beds & clean , with fantastic views , walks etc There was a couple of issues, firstly the oven ( which has been mentioned before) only one half works which for 8 people is not good , we cooked on Friday night & it took ages as we needed the oven , secondly you could not regulate the upstairs shower it was boiling hot & considering most of the bedrooms are upstairs this isn’t good at all , if these 2 things were fixed we would come again ."
All in all a good stay .

"Fantastic holiday again, at this property which we also visited a couple of years ago."
Upstairs was great for our son, his partner, and the grandchildren whilst we were downstairs. Perfect place for walking round the reservoir, about 5 miles, even in the rain!
-
"A spacious property, well-equipped and comfortable, ideal for our family get-together."
The rural location (thanks foe detailed arrival instructions) is very quiet with lovely vuews, yet conveniently close to Leek. P,lenty to do in the area and a good local pub. One little niggle - the WiFi signal is very weak upstairs - but everything else was great and we really enjoyed our holiday.

"Had a great time despite Storm Henk."
Two of the dining chairs were quite wobbly. We had to take care using them. There appeared to be no bath mat in the upsairs bathroom. One of the ovens in the Beco range seemed not to work. Otherwise it was all very good.

"We noticed some details of this property were mixed up with the other attached property."
The listing stated secure garden for pets but this wasn't the case. And the key collection email stated it was in a key box in the wood store (again this was the other property) so there was a bit of confusion when arriving. Heating and hot water were both turned off on arrival, so had to change then to auto ourselves on arrival. House was very clean though, I have a dust allergy and was worried but nothing came of it so very pleased. Great amount of space and bedrooms all being doubles were good. Chairs in kitchen pretty uncomfortable! And we noticed the down stairs shower was just a trickle, not sure why? Would be good if the grassed garden had a decent fence up so that would be secure for dogs. Also maybe a dart board in the games room? Amazing views! Very comfortable beds and heating was superb, tempted to get the fire on just for aesthetics but didn't need to. Will definitely recommend and most likely return! Thank you :)

"Beautiful location."
Very spacious accommodation - plenty of room for all our family and grandchildren. Nice kitchen. Comfortable bedrooms. Clean throughout. Bit remote but only few minutes drive to all necessary facilites - pubs, supermarkets, etc. Local pub - Lazy trout - especially nice for good food.

"We had a lovely time away with our family - 3 lots of us meeting up."
Property was very spacious and more than adequate parking. Kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Oven took a bit of getting used to with temp and times but we managed! If you wear glasses, would recommend making sure you work out the shower works before you get in - the water can get very hot. Great holiday was has - thank you

"Lovely location, perfect for all the family."
Cosy and spacious cottage. Thanks for a lovely stay

"South Hillswood Booth was great for a family get away."
Spacious and well equipped, clean and comfortable. It's tucked away with beautiful surroundings. Lovely close walk to the reservoir. Would highly recommend if you want to be surrounded by fields and nature. Thanks to Karen and Richard, and Suzanne for their prompt communication.

"A very spacious farmhouse."
We were 6 adults, one 6 year old and one baby. Lots of space for all. Nice rooms, comfy beds. Great kitchen. Lazy Trout pub does good food. Walk round the resevoir on the doorstep. Sainsbury did a big shop food delivery. We had a lovely family get together.

"I didn't go to the property as I was poorly but the rest of the party did."
They advised me that 1 of the oven wasn't working and that the "Games room" was not really a games room but more of a garage with a tractor in it and that all of the games there were damaged or not usable which was a big disappointment for the children. Other than that, house was lovely and clean.

"We had a wonderful Christmas with all the family in South Hillswood Booth."
I'd actually say it's slightly larger than it appears in the photographs! The instructions for arrival were very thorough, which was helpful given that it's down a private track that's easy to miss in the dark. The location is stunning, with a relatively easy walk down to Tittersworth water from the private lane. With a full house of 7 adults, 2 children and an infant, we occasionally ran short of hot water in the morning, but there were instructions to top it up if needed. Otherwise the facilities were great and we enjoyed cooking Christmas dinner in the large oven and sitting everyone around the dinner table in the living room. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend the South Hillswood Booth if you're thinking of a family getaway to the Peak District.

"We all had a great week away."
The weather was much better than we had hoped, and it only rained on two of the six days. The facilities were good and we loved the kitchen, games room and the sizeable bedrooms. My only criticism would be that the downstairs shower room was a little further away from the bedroom than we would have liked. Also, it smelled a little from dampness. If anything could be improved, it would be that we prefer a larger bath sheet rather than an ordinary bath towel. Perhaps we are cossetted a little at home!
-
"Fantastic cottage."
Which was well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the games barn, played table tennis and table football. Location was perfect, few minutes walk away from the Reservoir; views were amazing. We ate at the local pub - food was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful.

"A very spacious and comfortable house in a delightful rural location conveniently situated near to the Tittesworth resourvoir with many local attractions nearby."
Well worth a visit.

"This was a really lovely holiday home!"
We stayed during a very unusually hot week and the coolness of indoors with the availability of the outdoor living areas, where we dined most evenings, was perfect! The rural setting was wonderfully relaxing. The house is very comfortable and tastefully furnished. We had everything we needed for our family of seven adults and our little dog Betty. Thank you for a really wonderful holiday!

"Just back from having 2 weeks at SHB."
Good location for exploring the Peak District. Nice having the reservoir within walking distance. Favourite locations & restaurants were Chatsworth House, Alton Towers, Hen Cloud & The Roaches, Dimmingsdale, Rudyard Lake, Blue John Caverns, Thorpe Cloud & Dovedale, The Winking Man and The Lazy Trout. We are cat friendly and enjoyed our visits from Bill & Ted (owners cats). Plenty wildlife around the cottage, just put out bird seed, peanuts and you'll see them. Jay, Woodpecker, Robins, Blackbirds, Wrens all visited the garden. Also saw Buzzards, Rabbits, Brown Hare & Deer in the fields just along from the cottage. Cottage well equipped, comfy beds, showers took a while to work out but run the bath tap to start the pump. Thank you very much for having us.

"Lovely area, a bit raw at the edges"

"In the first 3 days we had difficulty getting hot water for showers."
Richard the owner was very prompt to attend and eventuality got the set up working correctly. We felt that there was insufficient bathroom facilities for a property to accommodate 8 persons. Having said that, the house was immaculately clean in all aspects. The location has breathtaking views.

"Absolutely perfect."
Just what our reunion asked for and needed. Great communication from the owners who were gracious and understanding. Words can’t describe the location and the place is actually better than the pics illustrate which I believed was impossible. Can not recommend highly enough. Thank you so much for having us :)

"Great stay at the barn with family and dogs."
Loved being able to walk to the reservoir from the house and great walk around the reservoir. Had day trips out to Alton Towers and Stoke water park - both perfect for teens! Would recommend.
-
"Just spent a lovely mid week break in this beautiful property."
We are a family of 5 with ages ranging from 20 - 76 yrs and there was something for everyone. The property is well equipped and in a wonderful location. It is very close to Tittesworth Reservoir, which provided a delightful morning circular walk everyday with our dog. There’s is a fab pub nearby ‘The Lazy Trout’ which is well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

"A lovely cosy, homely cottage."
In beautiful surroundings and lovely location. The cottage had everything we needed. Spacious, clean and great facilities.

"South Hillswood Booth is the ideal place for a family get together, it's a large spacious house with plenty of parking in a peaceful location."
We stayed over Christmas 2021 so we didn't make the most of the table tennis etc but we did enjoy the delights of the log burner during those chilly nights. The house is approximately 400m from the Tittesworth reservoir and it's exactly 4.97 miles from the house, around the reservoir track and back. The Roaches are a few miles away if you want a walk with a view, it's a circular walk and at 3.4 miles it's achievable for most people. Leek is a few miles away and you'll find everything you need there, it's served by a veritable myriad of supermarkets such as Sainsburys, Morriston, Aldi, Asda etc. We loved it so much we've already booked to return in the summer.

"South Hillswood Booth is amazing!"
Richard was very welcoming when we arrived. The cottage is really lovely and would highly recommend it. There was lovely large main bathroom, comfortable beds and ample fixtures and fittings. Wi-Fi worked perfectly and kitchen was ideal for cooking meals of an evening. The cottage is situated in such a beautiful and quiet place with spectacular views, it's close to Leek and Buxton villages with Brooklyn farm shop close by too which is worth a visit. Rudyard lake was also minutes away and the best thing we visited, such a peaceful walk. The cottage was easy to find as although it's down a long country lane the emailed directions were perfect and so easy to navigate. Only hiccup was the heating needed fixing however this was very quickly fixed and ample heaters were provided immediately for use for a couple of days... I got the feeling that if you had an issue while staying here Richard and Karen would do anything to help which you don't get in some rentals. Would highly recommend a stay here, beautiful place.

"We had such a fantastic stay at south hills wood booth."
The house is in a stunning location with walks right on the door step. So many beautiful walks and things to see all within 30 minute drive. The house itself was above expectations, everything you could need from a well equipped kitchen to comfortable beds and a hot shower. The games room in the barn was a well used space by our 6yr old and adults alike. We would definitely return and highly recommend this gem of a place.

"South Hillswood is a fantastic cottage."
We were very comfortable and had plenty of space. The cottage was clean and the Games Room was a bonus. Suzan was great and sorted everything out. There is a lovely reservoir right next to the cottage with a 5 mile walk around it which was great with the kids. We had a very nice time and were sad to leave :-(.
