Walton House Cottage

Well it's true what other reviews say, stunning views all-around and the view from upstairs is amazing especially at sun rise.

The accommodation has everything you'd need & more. Walton Cottage is definitely a jewel in the crown and the goodies left for our arrival were a nice touch, although you are close to the owners property you are left in complete privacy. The hot tub is a much needed experience after a day out exploring the wonderful delights the Peak District has to offer.  A must see is the Heights of Abraham.

Our third visit - fantastic cottage with top of the range fixtures, fittings and decor, and with everything you could wish for.

Every thought is catered for, and hosts unobtrusive and more than happy to go out of their way to help.

Our stay was EXCELLENT from start to finish.

The accommodation was perfect in every way, everything was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was on site. The bed was very comfortable, the garden area well equipped and the addition of two sun beds was great. The kitchen was very well equipped and the ice cold water, milk, biscuits and chocolate drinks were very welcoming. Loved the hot tub with beautiful views of the Peak District. The lounge was so comfortable again with those beautiful views. Plenty of places to visit with quaint shops and places to eat. The Derwent Valley reservoir walk is well worth doing. We will certainly recommend Walton Cottage to our friends and family and would hope to revisit in the future. Thank you to Austin and Christina for an a most enjoyable stay.

Walton Cottage is the perfect holiday home you will want to return to again and again.

Great location, fabulous views from the garden and living room.

Without a doubt one of the best properties we've stayed in. Very peaceful location, you wouldn't believe it's only a short five minute walk into town. Our Hosts Christina and Austin were very helpful and always on hand if we needed anything. The accommodation was of a very high standard, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We were always greeted on our return by the two friendly donkeys in the paddock, who appreciated the occasional carrot or two. Plenty of pubs and eateries within walking distance. We shall certainly be paying a return visit.

We arrived at the cottage after a long drive from Scotland and our first impression was definitely WOW!

Lovely interiors and everything well thought out with the "customer" in mind Very nice owners! The view from the upstairs is fantastic! For us personally...and these are observations and most definitely not criticisms..are that upstairs gets very hot..we are used to a superking size bed & the bed was kingsize...the duvet was too warm for summer temperatures! Walton House Cottage is exactly as described on the Sykes website.

It is an idyllic holiday cottage with literally everything you could wish for for your holiday break. However, calling it a cottage belies the actual accommodation. The word "cottage" brings to mind a small house with small rooms and not much natural light. Walton Cottage couldn't be further removed if you tried. It has a very large kitchen diner that is fully equipped and very comfortable to relax in after meals. What's more, it has a fantastic lounge up stairs with a stunning panoramic window giving fantastic view over the Derbyshire High Peaks. The large bedroom with King-size bed and the luxurious bathroom with a walk-in shower completed an immaculate interior. To top it off there is a Hot-tub outside which we used everyday having a glass of wine or cock-tail. The cleanliness and amenities provided by the owners was excellent, thank you!! We only spent a week at the cottage but had a great time. Its ideally located for some memorable walks, both long or short. We hope to return one day.

A joyful week spent here.

Super comfy bed and welcoming hot tub after hiking! It had everything we needed and the view really was something else, especially if you catch a sunrise! The check in/check out was seamless. It was our first visit to the Peak District, it wont be our last!

What a stunning property!

It was very comfortable and completely spotless. The views were outstanding and loved the privacy screen for the hot tub. The donkeys coming to say hello was a cute bonus too. The kitchen facilities were exceptional with all the amenities that you need. The information package gave some really good local restaurant options and explained things clearly. I would recommend this property without hesitation and would love to visit again.

What a fabulous place to spend Christmas.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. Christina and Austin had decorated the cottage beautifully and kindly left us some Christmas treats, which was unexpected but very much appreciated. We would love to return in the summer to explore the area further and make better use of the hot tub.

It felt luxurious and was super clean. Lovely hot tub and just a short stroll into town. Fabulous walks directly from the cottage but also well placed to explore more of the Peaks within a short drive too. The views from the cottage and hot tub are beautiful.

A truly wonderful stay.

The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The views from the lounge (and the hot tub) are stunning, and daily visits from the donkeys (Snuggles and Humphrey) were the icing on the cake. We would definitely stay again.

Wonderful stay.

Host very accommodating. Place spotlessly clean and larger than I'd guessed from the photos which was a nice surprise! The recommended local pubs/eateries and walks were appreciated. Location great in the sense of feeling remote yet dinner out is on your doorstep! Locals throughout our stay we found to be super friendly, we enjoyed chatting away all week!

An excellent cottage with all the amenities you could wish for.

The view from the upstairs large window was Simply breathtaking. Never got tired of looking at it while enjoying a glass of wine. The host's were very friendly and attentative to there guests needs during the stay.

Superb quality accommodation tucked away up a snicket but within close walking distance to Chapel.

What can I say except perfect.

Had the most incredible stay the house it’s self is beautiful there’s a telescope to look at the stars. The house was so clean and there is a hot tub and bbq perfect for summer. Two donkeys come and say hello at the fence everyday they’re super friendly and the owners themselves were lovely. I would 100% recommend this stay to everyone, there are some nice places to eat around and everyone in the village was so friendly. Deffo get booking!!!!

Fantastic cottage with fabulous views across chapel En Le Frith and the peaks beyond, we spent many hours taking in the views over a glass of wine.

Great location to the town too, only a few minutes walk to 4 or 5 pubs and many lovely restaurants and takeaways. Walton house cottage is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and has everything you could ever need for a very comfortable stay. They have thought of everything and have lots of nice little extra touches like dressing gowns and slippers. We were made very welcome by the lovely owners who went above and beyond, one evening even collecting a Chinese take away for us. ❤️ We would thoroughly recommend Walton house cottage and will definitely be back. Gorgeous and modern cottage with a beautiful view over the fields and hills but only a short walk into town.

We loved our stay and felt very relaxed after 4 days there. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Such a beautiful property!

Unfortunately within minutes of arriving I had to leave my partner there and drive 5 hours to my parents as my Mother was taken seriously unwell. Without a car at the property, the owners offered and took my partner to the station the next day so that he could make his way home. Thank you so much for your help! It is very much appreciated. I hope that we get to stay with you again in the future.

Stunning, spacious and luxurious property in a fantastic location.

The holiday lodge we stayed in last week for 7 nights was absolutely the best we have stayed upto date everything was spotlessly clean the views are stunning the friendly animals there the owners were really friendly we hope we will be back god willing plenty of places to visit really enjoyed our stay would recommend to anyone to book there and see for yourself lovely thanks again Chris and Gill.

Walton House cottage is a lovely place to stay, a real home from home, so comfortable and relaxing.

It is in a great position, giving easy access to a wide range of fantastic walks in the beautiful national park.

14th-21st June 2024 We can not find any faults at all with this cottage.

It’s beautiful, spacious, comfortable and so clean. Spectacular views, and the friendly donkeys Snuggles and Humphrey were a joy to see over the fence every morning. Several pubs in walking distance, and plenty to see and do in the area. We went to Matlock, Bakewell, Holmfirth Vineyard for a tour, wine tasting and afternoon tea, and a beautiful place called Ashford in the water, where we had a lovely lunch. Lots of photo opportunities to be had in all these places. We met Christina the owner who was just lovely and while she went on holiday with her family, her Mum and Dad were on hand should we of had any issues (which we didn’t). We would highly recommend this cottage. Chris and Ian Bannister

Walton house cottage is a lovely holiday home and perfect for a couple.

Everything is modern and clean, and well thought out. The views from the property are superb, and the donkeys who live next door are just adorable. The owners are friendly and helpful, and quick to respond if you need anything. Very good all round.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful yet convenient location (a 10 min walk to numerous pubs, restaurants & shops). The cottage is very well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The owners could not have been more helpful prior to arrival and during our visit. We highly recommend this property. Lots to see and do nearby, variety of walks as well as spa towns and Chatsworth House.

Really impressed with the extras provided:- dressing gowns, slippers, lots of towels and kitchen extras - coffee machine and pods, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and dishwasher and washing machine. The bottle of prosecco was much appreciated when relaxing in the hot tub! Spotlessly clean with lovely decor and very comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the lounge and friendly donkeys in the field to top it all off.

Walton House Cottage is set in a peaceful location that affords wonderful views of the local countryside across to Chapel en le Frith.

Inside it is beautifully decorated and has absolutely everything you might need to spend a week away from home, as we did. Christina, the owner, came to see us to make sure we had everything we needed and ensured that we knew how to operate the hot tub - which we managed to use most days

The property is in immaculate condition.

Everything you need from the bedroom to the kitchen is available for a relaxing break. The cottage is lovely and warm and easily fought off Storms Elin and Fergus while we were there. The hot tub is just outside the cottage and was a joy on returning from a walk and meal in town. All in all a fabulous location and fantastic accommodation for a relaxing break.

Best holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed in a few).

The location, views, interior design, cleanliness and helpfulness of owners was superb. The cottage is actually larger than it looks in the photo’s. We had a great week and loved our daily visits from the donkeys. Would we book this cottage again? Absolutely. Can’t wait to return.

Superb spacious, clean, comfortable, accommodation, very welcoming hosts who respected our privacy and excellent quiet but convenient location. Lovely views and so much to see and do very close by. We wished we were staying for a second week!

Wow!

What a find this was. The cottage was spotless and the owners clearly care about making sure that you have a real home from home experience. Normally there is one thing that you had hoped could have been better. In this case there really wasn’t anything the owners could have done as they were one step ahead of us. The hot tub finished off a long day of walking with endless towels of good quality may I add, the shower was lush! The cottage comes with everything you need to whip up a meal including a fab oven. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, warm and we never wanted to leave, the bed was comfy and large and for once a cottage that has a plug near a mirror ohhh and a dressing table. Everything was just superb and the hosts were ace! You have two donkeys snuggles and Humphrey and also Leo the cat! I literally cried because I didn’t want to go home, the first time after a holiday that this had happened. We were super impressed with the welcome gifts, dressing gowns for you to use whilst you stay and slippers( we took our own though) if you haven’t guessed we loved it, and we will be back. All of the reviews earlier guests have left all mirror mine. You will not be disappointed by this cottage it is the best cottage in the Peaks. Had a brilliant week at Walton House Cottage.

Loved the hot tub we used to have a dip in it before breakfast and again once we had been out for the day. Cottage was perfect could not wish for anything more , it was in a beautiful spot the outlook from the hot tub was to die for.

Fantastic little hideaway!

Spotlessly clean. Home from home. Everything we required was there. The kitchen is the best equipped we have EVER stayed in. Loved the cooker. The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of towels for a weeks stay. The bed was so comfortable. And the view from the upstairs lounge was just lovely. The hot tub was wonderful. We had the most wonderful stay here and would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic, everything you need plus more, the owners have thought of everything you possibly while staying there. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable accommodation with amazing views, with the added bonus of having Humphrey and Snuggles, the owners donkeys, in the field outside. Local shops and restaurants within walking distance Ideal location for exploring the Peak District, with many attractions close by. The owners, Christina and Austin, are very friendly and helpful and take pride in their fantastic holiday cottage, which we would highly recommend and hopefully we will make a return visit.

A real home from home!

My wife and I had the best holiday.

Beautiful views and lovely walks. But the best bit of the holiday was Walton House Cottage. After a long day walking a nice hot shower and then a long soak in the hot tub looking out at the Beautiful views and breathing in the cool fresh air. Amazing! We felt like it was a home from home. It was so clean and had everything you needed. It is decorated perfectly looks like it was built a week ago. So relaxing and comfortable that it felt like we took our home to the stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside. Thanks you so much for such a lovely holiday.

This is an extremely well appointed, extremely clean cottage.

If it was a hotel it would be 5*. Views are amazing and the location is perfect both away from it all and within a couple of minutes in a lovely town with plenty of pubs, restaurants and some shops. The hosts are friendly and unobtrusive. Highly recommended

We had a lovely weekend for our tenth anniversary.

The place is so clean and comfortable, it was really nice to have some time to relax together. We were really impressed with what was offered in the property - for example, decaf tea was available. We loved seeing the donkeys! We had some fantastic meals in town as well. It was a perfect weekend and we’ve booked again for longer next year.

From the moment we entered this stunning property, we knew it was going to be a fantastic week.

It was spotlessly clean and a lot of thought had gone into decorating the cottage. The kitchen was adequately stocked with all the utensils you would need; which led into an open plan dining area and sitting area. Upstairs was a comfortable living room, which had extensive views of the surrounding area. The bed room was a generous size with 2 velux windows to see the sunrise and sunset. Outside was a fabulous hot tub which was used daily. The town itself had lots of cafes/restaurants/pubs. We throughly enjoyed The Old Cell Ale House, kouros, Rems, Pug and Pudding and Vecchias. Christina and Austin were great hosts and we even had a daily visit from their donkeys!

This is our 2nd visit to Walton cottage and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, Exploring the magnificent Peak District with some truly memorable walks, the cottage is such a welcome retreat after a long day, to relax and unwind in the Hot Tub with its superb views.

Owners close by if you need them The position of this holiday let is brilliant for country views and excellent for walks, shops and amenities. An ideal place for 2 adults to relax or walk or cycle your legs off!!! Hot tub is in sheltered position but with the wonderful views. Excellent accommodation, and everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday, with many thoughtful extras.

Our hosts were extremely welcoming and thoughtful (e.g. providing fresh bread for our arrival evening). The location was ideal; just remote enough to feel that you are lost in the countryside, yet close enough to Chapel to walk to the local supermarket and restaurants. We definitely plan to return next year.

As soon as we walked into the cottage, it felt so welcoming, a warm, cosy, romantic feel…with some little extras made our stay very special.

We very much enjoyed our peaceful stay at this property in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

It is located in a lovely area and has lots of lovely walks to go on in the Peak District and just locally. We had a very pleasant and calming stay, which was our aim, and felt very relaxed when we left 10 days later. I can recommend this property for active and less active holiday goals alike. The property itself is spotless, spacious and very well laid out. The owners are very nice people who are attentive to your needs but respectful of your need for privacy. We had a superb week - the location is excellent for getting out and about and the cottage is really comfortable and contains everything you need for a relaxing break - including a hot tub in your own garden. The owners were friendly and helpful and did everything to make sure our holiday was perfect - including texting us to make sure we didn't miss the most amazing sunset! We were absolutely blown away by Walton House Cottage.

Christina and Austen were incredibly welcoming and we were really happy with the luxuries they provided. We were completely relaxed and had great nights spent in the hot tub and bbq’s! The showering and bathing facilities were fantastic too! We felt every small detail was thought about- kudos to the owners- we want to visit again!

Very clean. No overbearing notices were posted anywhere, which is a definite positive. Christina was very helpful during our stay. We will definitely return at some point.

The owners have thought of everything to make the stay especially comfortable. Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and Chatsworth are all nearby and there is a range of restaurants in Chapel-en-le-Frith in easy walking distance.

The cottage is light airy and immaculately clean .

It’s located so that short walks and the local village shops pubs are all vey accessible on foot . The immediate surroundings are tranquil and the hot tub and seating area is small but neat and inviting . The views from the upper and lower windows are lovely. It provides an ideal relaxing comfortable haven . We hope to return again in the future

This cottage was an amazing place to stay for a week.

It had everything that you could need and more. The owners were amazing too, nothing was ever too much trouble for them. We will definitely be back.

During the past couple of years, due to travel restrictions, we have had many breaks in the UK.

During this time we have stayed in many different establishments, all of them really good and most of them different. We have to say that this visit for lots of reasons outshines them all. The cottage was magnificent throughout, not a single fault. However the help and hospitality of Christina and Austin was outstanding. They should be proud of what they have done. We are definitely returning. Absolutely superb in every way.

The Hot tub was a very welcome retreat at the end of a long day to just relax And take in the views, we also appreciated the animals and Snuggles the donkey who is quite a character. Our stay at Walton Cottage was magical.

We had just got married and it was our English Honeymoon, it certainly did not disappoint. We were greeted by a warm, beautifully decorated property; plus a chilled bottle of Champagne which was a lovely touch. The cottage was cosy and had all of the required amenities for a perfect week (lots of soft towels, all necessary kitchen implements, great Wifi, robes and slippers etc). The well-stocked basket in the kitchen with Tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and other bits was a lovely thought also. The animals (Betty, Ted, Chris and Snuggles) made the holiday so special as it was an added bonus to see them each day, my wife had many chats with them. The view is gorgeous, especially from the hot tub and upstairs living room with the large welcoming window. Christina and Austin, offer the most stunning accommodation for you to have a relaxing break away and they maintain friendly and polite communication, which we really appreciated. I’d highly recommend the property and local area for anyone wanting a luxury break with lovely scenic walks. You certainly won’t be disappointed if you stay here, we can’t wait to rebook and return already. Thank you so much for a memorable honeymoon!

What an absolutely beautiful cottage!

Myself and my husband thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here. Everything about the cottage was perfect! The level of decor and comfort far exceeded our expectations. The roll top bath was very much appreciated after lots of beautiful walks. The views are outstanding, even on the rainy days! The owners Christina and Austin were super helpful and friendly - and the extra touches including the chilled bottle of Prosecco was very much appreciated! We enjoyed many moments chatting to Snuggles the donkey, Chris and Ted the alpacas and Betty the highland cow. Would love to return here one day! If you are due to stay here you are on for a treat! The cottage was excellent.

The standards of furnishing and equipment were exceptional, kitchen equipment, TVs, bedding, bath robes could not be faulted. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, an added bonus of of a few drinks in the fridge on arrival. The hot tub was amazing, the animals in the adjacent field kept us entertained, especially the donkey. All in all a very relaxing week and well recommended.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous location and fantastic hosts.

This was the perfect getaway for a couple of days, ideal for walks around the various key areas of the peaks. Saying this however, the cottage was so lovely we didn’t want to leave it for long most days! We would absolutely recommend this cottage to other couples and will definitely return.
