  • "This is a five star property and all the equipment is first class."

    It is fairly new and extremely comfortable, with lots of little extras (provided with car park pass, as well as parking bay which I managed to use). Despite being extremely hot outside (heatwave and plus 30) the property remained cool and was a welcome and luxurious bonus on return from a day's hike. Everything was fantastic, including all communications. I can not think of a single improvement, it was perfect and extremely good value for money.

  • "A fantastic cottage close to everything you could need."

    We had a wonderful time and the cottage was very well equipped for a family of four. Every detail has been thought about and it is warm and comfortable. The information given before arrival was great and helped us to find places we could go for food in the village. Thank you!

    Could do with an outside garden low light to sit out on summer evenings though. Shower is powerful !!! Loved the pride & prejudice touch in my room. High quality finish. Central perfect village location, Thank you Lindsey

  • "We loved our time at Castleton."

    The cottage was nice and def has a lot of potential. However I would say that some basic necessities could have been provided like some kitchen roll and spray to help clean the kitchen. Also I know there was an email sent before we went but a physical information pack would have been appreciated to help with when to leave the rubbish bins out for collection (they were full) or how to access the WiFi. The garden river with 2 small children was a challenge to save them from falling in and I found it hard to relax when they were outside. Aside from that the host was nice and very easily contacted and dealt with a leak issue very quickly. The cottage tho is in a great location and served our family well. We would stay again :)

  • "The cottage was warm, clean, comfortable and in a prime position in Castleton."

    We enjoyed our stay. I have two additional comments. First, although there is off street parking at the side of the cottage it is shared with the cottage next door, and there is space for one car only. There is a small space in-front of the cottage but it is too small to park the average car. The other cottage was not occupied during or stay so parking was not an issue. Second, although there were clear instructions as to how to access the property there was no information provided as to how to use appliances, house rules or rubbish disposal and collection etc. It would also have been useful to know that WiFi was accessed via a QR code.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the cottage for 2 nights with our teenage kids, who had a room each."

    Beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was really nice, a lovely bath! Lots of nice touches, a well equipped kitchen and the record player was a real hit. We enjoyed our stay but when we all had wet muddy boots and clothes it was a bit awkward to get them dried out without making a huge mess. Wifi was great, had no issue with signal and the cottage was really toasty.

  • "We loved the property, the furniture and decor and especially the addition of the record player and LPs -Brilliant!"

    Ideal location for walking. Shops, cafes and pubs all on the doorstep, so lots of good food. We would have appreciated a small welcome pack and some logs for the wood burner, but we know what to take next time as we have happily booked for the same weekend next year!

  • "We had a wonderful short break."

    The cottage was comfortable and decorated to a high standard. It was well equipped however a microwave would be a good addition. It would be good to have some sort of table or cupboard at the side of the double bed nearest the door as there was nowhere to put your ‘stuff’. These are small issues though. We loved the Dansette and enjoyed playing the selection of records. A great stay, thank you.

  • "We had a week at this stunning cottage…one of the best we’ve ever stayed in."

    The location is perfect, and we had the shared driveway to ourselves. Communication with the owner was great. I would highly recommend the cottage, it’s beautiful. We totally recharged and rested, which was much needed. Thank you

  • "The cottage on the island is very tastefully decorated with all that is required for your perfect holiday."

    It is central to all amenities with walking routes straight from the front door. Lyndsey the owner is easily contactable should you require any assistance. She sends a very in depth welcome/description/instruction pack prior to arrival which is very useful, having the parking permit is an absolute bonus for easy and handy parking at the, visitors centre. We will definitely be booking to stay again.

  • "What a beautiful cottage, perfectly located in the centre of Castleton, close to all the shops, restaurants and cafes and with local walks from the door you can enjoy a relaxing car free weekend."

    We had 2 cars so really appreciated the parking permit. The cottage was very stylishly decorated throughout, had a log burner for snug winter evenings, SMEG appliances in the kitchen and cosy bedrooms for a good night's sleep. We loved that there was a record player with a great choice of music. We all agreed that it was a cottage to return too and would highly recommend it.

  • "Only one toilet roll for 4 people ."

    Inside the cottage was very clean but I think the outside needs cleaning up and also in the the back garden the drain was spilling over and water was going everywhere. Apart from that everything else was lovely .

    It's in the perfect location and has been lovingly decorated. It has everything we could want for a cosy long weekend and we loved the claw-foot bath and fireplace. We can't wait to come back.

  • "We spent a lovely 4 nights in this cottage."

    It was super cosy and comfortable with quality appliances and furnishings. Everything was new with no expense spared. The log burner made a beautiful focal point of an evening whilst relaxing in front of the tv or listening to music on the record player with its varied selection of LPs. Would love to return in the better weather to take advantage of the back garden with the stream running under the decking. Lindsey also provided some welcome gifts which was a lovely touch and most appreciated. Would definitely recommend.

The outstandingly beautiful Peak District village of Castleton is situated at the top of the Hope Valley, on the doorstep of some great walking country. Steeped in fascinating history, the village boasts the Norman Peverill Castle Keep which is in a commanding position keeping an eye on the village and the National Park. The village is a draw to walkers and all manner of outdoor enthusiasts wanting to follow the paths, conquer the Winnats Pass or have a go at caving. Castleton is world-famous for its visitor caves and the beautiful semi precious stone Blue John which is only found and mined here. Castleton has a fabulous array of interesting little gift shops, pubs, tea rooms and an excellent Visitor Centre with its small museum explaining life in the Hope Valley, plus the Christmas lights and festive activities are very popular with visitors during December. Nearby are the pretty villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Hope and Hathersage with its seasonal outdoor swimming pool. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Also within easy reach are Buxton, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, while further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek.
