Temperance Croft

Temperance Croft is a really lovely cottage.

It is beautifully maintained and furnished with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Angela, James and their sons are very welcoming and helpful hosts. It is a good base for visiting the Peak District and other attractions such as stately homes are within easy distance.

Temperance cottage is a beautiful place to stay.

We would rate it 10/10. It’s comfortable, very clean well equipped and the scenery is gorgeous very relaxing. The owners are delightful and friendly there if you need them but not intrusive. The welcome pack is very generous and thoughtful. We have stayed in many cottages but this is now are favourite. We will be going back. Thank you Angela and James.

The cottage was idyllic and surpassed our expectations.

The holiday cottage can’t be faulted and neither can the owners.

They left us a welcome basket they also notified us that there was a power cut and would notify us when it came back which they did. I would definitely recommend staying here.

It is comfortable, relaxing and very well looked after. The bed is super comfy, which is great for a much needed sleep after exploring the beautiful Peak District. The attention to detail is excellent, from the delicious welcome pack, to the lovely seating areas in the garden. If we could give more than 5 stars we would. Thank you to James and Angela for making us feel so very welcome again. Hope to be back again soon.

Previous five-star reviews accurate very generous welcoming hamper spotlessly clean extremely comfortable with high quality fixtures and fittings the Host could not do enough for us very welcoming sheep a delight the pictures on the website do not do the Cottage Justice for two people it is incredibly spacious with generous hallway with lots of storage for shoes and outdoor coats the kitchen diner could easily accommodate six people the Cottage is conveniently placed for a lot of The Tourist hotspots on that note if there's world dressing happening do go it was a wonderful experience the lovely secluded garden was a real bonus to relax in at the end of a busy day

We found this delightful cottage to be very furnished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean and well equipped with many thoughtful touches.

There was a generous welcome pack awaiting us including some delicious home baked items. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well and felt very relaxed. The location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Peak District and then returning to evening drinks in the garden surrounded only by dry stone walls, flowers and sheep. Angela & James are wonderful hosts and it was a pleasure to meet them - thank you Angela & James for your hospitality and kindness. Sarah & David

We have just spent a week at Temperance Croft.

The cottage was spotlessly clean. The welcome pack was amazing. The highlight of the delicious bundle was homemade bread buns. The owners are a lovely couple. We would love to return as we could not fault this place.

An excellent stay from the start, with an unexpected welcome basket including wine and home made bread, to the finish, with a visit by the owner Angela to ask how we enjoyed it and not to rush to leave for ten.

Although next to the main road between Chesterfield and Bakewell the cottage was well positioned to not see or hear any traffic. There was access to a bus stop only 100 yards away and a real sense of being on your own in the countryside.

We really enjoyed our second stay at Temperance Croft.

Once again we found it comfortable, welcoming and impeccably clean. The outside space is delightful with two lovely seating areas in the country garden. The wonderful welcome pack was much appreciated, especially the home made cookies and bread rolls. The owners are lovely and take every care to make sure your stay is relaxing and enjoyable. We look forward to our third visit.

We have stayed in many small cottages and this was the best.

Very high standard of cleanliness and very well maintained inside and out. everything was comfortable.

From the moment we approached the cottage we realised that it was the perfect location for us and once inside was pleasantly surprised at the immaculate condition the cottage was in.

The cottage has such a homely feel about it and after unloading the car we started feeling at home straight away. The cottage was very well appointed with quality items throughout and had everything we would need for our stay. Angela and James had a welcome that felt warm and honest and thank them for such a wonderful time.

Totally felt like home from home for 5 days for me which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Even the nearby road isn’t a factor with noise to be honest. Everything you could possibly need is available in the property to enjoy a comfortable enjoyable stay. If you wish to explore or hide from society for some peace this place is brilliant. I will look again early next year for another 5 or 6 day escape.

What a fantastic cottage very clean and comfortable the bed is out of this world the location is very handy for sightseeing it was the best cottage we have stayed in very high standard the view from windows looking at sheep grazing feet away from cottage was lovely everything you need for a comfortable stay on arrival was met with homemade bread and cookies and other treats the owners are very pleasant will definitely stay again

Temperance Croft is a little gem, just a little way out of Chesterfield.

It is spacious, beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished - and very well presented. We wanted to be in that area so as to have easy access to some of the surrounding villages and towns, without a long journey. There are walks nearby for when the weather is better! We wanted a few days away from the fast pace of life we all seem to live these days and this property was perfect! We were warmly welcomed by Angela and given the assurance that we could call on her should we need anything. We also appreciated the lovely homemade bread and biscuits included in the welcome basket - a really nice touch! We really enjoyed our relaxing stay and look forward to visiting again soon.

Temperance Croft has everything. Angela and James and the family are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. The bonus of flowers and a welcome box was very well received and a lovely touch. I will be recommending to friends and family.

A beautiful cottage, well maintained and bigger than we expected.

Everything is thought of down to tea bags, coffee etc and milk in the fridge for that first cuppa when you arrive. The bus stop is near by if you don't have a car and it goes to Chesterfield, Chatsworth and Bakewell where other buses are available. We had a lovely week and will definitely stay again.

This was our second stay this year at Temperence cottage, and once again we had an enjoyable holiday.

This is the ideal accommodation in every way.

We have been coming here for 16 years & every time this cottage ticks every box. Everything one could wish for in terms of the location , comfort & cleanliness.There is a lovely area in which to relax, very comfortable bed & living area seating & a very spacious kitchen. We have booked again for March.

This was our second stay at Angela and James's lovely cottage.

It's clean, comfortable and spacious in a lovely setting next to their small herd of sheep. The location is perfect for visiting attractions such as Chatsworth, Bakewell, Haddon Hall, lovely walks, and this year we went to the Longshaw Estate where Spring Watch was filmed. Possibly the loveliest touch though is Angela's home baked goodies in the generous welcome pack which makes it so much more personal. And Angela and James too if course who are such a lovely friendly couple.

This property is ideally situated for any one that likes peace and tranquility and is an ideal place to stay if touring around The Peak District.

It’s a beautiful converted barn is in a small village located on a small working farm with sheep quietly grazing around in the paddocks around the property . Temperance Croft has everything you could possibly need for a weeks holiday or infect a longer vacation with ample private off road parking besides the property and a beautiful garden to relax in. The hosts are very friendly and live on site so if any problems did arise you have that added confidence they are only a few minutes away . We had a week at temperance croft and felt we could have easily stayed a second week it’s definitely home from home . We are returning in December for a week and hopefully again in the spring . We cannot fault this cottage.

It is spacious, well appointed, comfortable and truly feel like a home from home. On arriving the little hamper was a welcome (but unexpected) gift. The bed was supremely comfortable. Overall with the exception of wanting a longer time there, it was all everything you could wish for.

Very easy access to the main road without any main road traffic noise!! All the amenities you will need. Cosy a warm when the weather turns unfavourable! Temperance cottage is a wonderful holiday experience.

Angela had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The peace and tranquility surrounding the property accompanied by some lovely sheep and twittering birds makes for an envigorating feeling. Plus, Derbyshire dales was on our doorstep, fantastic. Highly recommended.

Lovely week stay at Temperance Croft .

Spotlessly clean and warm on arrival. Equipped with everything you could possibly need for full self catering and of good quality . Constant hot water with a lovely shower. Easy fully adjustable heating. Comfy bed and seating with quality towels and bedding . The property was a lot bigger than we expected which was a bonus. Great safe parking. A much appreciated generous welcome basket awaited our arrival. The owners Angela and James live next door a few yards away from the detached Croft, they are so friendly, welcoming, and are the perfect hosts. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay.

The Croft was excellent we everything you needed to feel at home from the start. The view were amazing and we could get to many of the attractions in no time at all. We would love to go back at a different time of the year to see the seasons change.

it's ideally situated for access to the Peaks and also Sheffield isn't to far away. Lovely and quiet, lovely views, well maintained and cozy. Will definitely stay again.

We were very pleased with this cottage.

It was very clean and comfortable. The furnishings were of good quality and very tasteful. It was well equipped The king size bed was extremely comfortable. To be greeted by a basket of goodies and flowers on the table when we arrived was most welcoming. Angela (property owner) was warm and friendly. She was most helpful when, on arriving home, we discovered we had lost our house keys. Angela searched the cottage and grounds but sadly they weren't there . We would not hesitate in making a return visit.

Stayed here for 4 nights in October, lovely well equiped cottage, very clean and comfortable.

Very quiet and peacefull. Nice comfy bed, good shower, wifi worked well, virtually everything you needed was there, easy to find, good carparking space. Nice places to visit nearby, not usually one to go back anywhere, but would definately consider returning here
