  • "Really enjoyed the property."

We managed to get most of the cars parked outside the property which was great, alternative parking was quite close. Just to confirm all bedrooms had a toilet and sinks but not all had showers, however there was a bathroom on each floor. Very well equipped and comfortable for 13 people to stay. Really worked well for a group booking.

The house was a great size for our big family, the bathrooms in l bedrooms were really handy and the house has everything you need. We were slightly worried about parking but it wasn't an issue. You can fit two cars at the house and then we parked the others a few roads away.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I encourage guests to contact me if there are any questions or concerns, I’m glad that parking wasn’t an issue in the end and that you enjoyed your stay. I hope receiving the welcome information prior to arrival was beneficial. Thank you for choosing Arlington. Danielle Property Owner

  • "Fantastic centrally located property."

Easy to find and local amenities incredibly accessible. Plenty of room for 14 of us to spread out without feeling too distant from one another. Bedrooms were comfortable and clean, and en suites were an added bonus. We found the drive and white line were enough parking for 3 relatively large cars, and the others found a very reasonable car park a short walk away. We were surprised to find street parking is only available for an hour so this is maybe unclear in the listing. A few things could do with some maintenance such as ground WC door, some wobbly dining chairs, and the pool table but overall an incredibly pleasant stay! Some extra large saucepans would be helpful as we found cooking for a large group difficult with the ones provided. We all said we would happily stay at Arlington again! Thank you

Thank you for your feedback. I am reviewing the welcome information we provide to ensure that parking information is up to date. We are currently in a busy period so unfortunately haven’t been able to complete some maintenance as quickly as planned, I can assure you, and future guests, that everything at Arlington House is safe and clean and we would not risk the health and comfort of guests. Thank you for choosing Arlington and hopefully look forward to welcoming you back. Danielle Property Owner

  • "We wrote a comprehensive report in the Visitors' book but weren't 100% sure all comments have been read by owners as some of our points had already been raised but clearly not addressed."

Overall everything was very positive, very clean and great facilities but there were some not so good points eg edges on the Pool table (ie there were none although we weren't overly bothered by this) and the absence of the publicised Hot Tub which did matter to us. Smaller issues would be addition of full length mirrors in rooms and shower caddies. It would have been helpful to have recommendations for eating out etc. But, as I said, we were generally very pleased with the whole place.

Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm that your feedback has been received and has been addressed. Not all recommendations will be actioned as they are personal preference. Also there is no hot tub at Arlington, we have a sauna instead. I’ve asked Sykes to double check our listing to make sure it is accurate. If you’d like any further feedback please do get in touch and I’d be happy to discuss. Thank you for choosing Arlington. Danielle Property Owner

The house was great, location amazing for walking into town.. It was clean and comfortable. Loved the items left for us to use. Will definitely visit again. Just a couple of issues which will help the visitors experience, The main front door, the handle/ knob is loose and comes away in your hand. Bedroom 4's door does not close. One bathroom with bath and shower could do with a slip mat, You mention in your folder residents parking permits were by the front door, but we never saw anything. None of these spoilt our stay. Just little feedbacks. Thank you

  • "This was a property where the photos did not do justice to the amount of space we had across the four floors."

With a mix of adults and children (four families) we loved the two separate socialising spaces and how little sound travelled around the house too. I was so impressed with the contact we had beforehand to ensure the beds were made up correctly for our group. We loved the fact that we could walk to coffee shops, shops, Matlock Bath etc. etc. It gave the flexibility for the older teens to head off and be independent when they wanted to. We got one car on the front paved area, then one on the white line blocking the house drive. We found close on street parking quite easily for the other two cars. I like a firm mattress and found our double mattress was a little tired and soft. That may just be personal preference though! (No one else in the party commented on their beds so I guess they were fine.) Thank you for providing a great 'home' for our family Christmas.

There were 8 of us mums and to have a toilet in every room was great. The dining room was a lovely place to congregate over food and the cellar was brilliant with the pool table and tv. The kitchen had everything in it that we needed to cook a massive Christmas dinner! We had a fantastic time and Danielle was really friendly and super responsive when we needed her. The heating didn't work in the top floors the first night but Danielle immediately came and sorted this out as soon as we contacted her, bought a part and fixed it the same day, we couldn't have asked for more. The location was great, a 2 min walk into Matlock but so quiet at night. The spa was a lovely treat too! We will definitely be back again!

Well equipped with everything you could need. Lots of comfy beds with abundance of bathrooms. Some of the furniture a bit tired (sofas a bit lumpy) Games room an absolute bonus. We didn’t use the sauna but outside space was lovely. We did find the house very warm, despite there being no heating on, but lots of windows and patio doors to open. Great position for exploring Matlock. Parking a bit tight, we managed to accommodate 3 cars and found additional on neighbouring streets. Would definitely stay again.

  • "Excellent location and facilities."

We were a group of walkers, mainly single, and all appreciated having their own room and (almost entirely) en suites. We had problems getting hot water on the top floor, so the two of us up there used the (very good) shower in the basement. Had a communal meal in, and enjoyed meals at the Italian (Viva), the Indian (Maazi), The Remarkable Hare and super pub The Duke William. Lots of historical interest in the area as well as the great walking/scenery. Very useful having the trains and buses also. The parking was not as easy as made out: you can get one car on the slabs in front of the house, but it's difficult to get two cars within the white line in front of that - and of course the car on the slabs is then blocked in. We almost were fined by a parking guy as one car overlapped the white line, and he said that anyway the while line was 'discretionary'. Parking spaces in the street were for one hour only, and the streets nearby where you could park longer were generally full. Despite this, a really excellent stay.

8 ladies in our 60s meeting for a school reunion. Loved the house. All got our own room including a loo! Excellently equipped. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Great location for sightseeing. The only downside was that there were roadworks outside the house so we couldn’t use the parking passes. We had four cars between us and you can only get one on the front of the property. Really great facilities, especially the number of bathrooms/WCs. Bedrooms modern and well designed. Living areas a little more dated, but comfortable and cosy. The house was amazing for our family Christmas break. The only thing that lets the property down is that the TV upstairs is too small. There is a much larger one downstairs which is a great size but unable to plug fire stick into it as the TV is built in. The blind in room 4 is broken and has been mentioned before but still not fixed. Great that all rooms had an en-suite toilet and the games room was fabulous for the kids/big kids. Would definitely stay here again

Thank you so much for your feedback! The blind has now been fixed, the initial repair clearly didn’t work so we have had to replace the mechanism; with having back to back bookings we didn’t have the opportunity to replace it sooner. . Room 7 top floor - toilet leaking at back left and at front Wifi in basement not working No 'Resident at Arlington house' badges (made do with scribbled note) Not sure of room number - first floor with two single beds - Blind had to be opened/closed by hand (tricky whilst standing on the bed) as it wouldn't catch on the rachet thing These are merely observations and not criticisms as we realise that it is impossible to test everything all the time. A lovely house - felt very covid safe even with a large group as there was plenty of room and mostly separate bedrooms. Thank you.
