  • "Our second time staying in this lovely cottage."

The bed is so comfortable! The cottage is airy and spacious with lovely decor and furnishings. Plenty of storage space. The underfloor central heating makes it really cosy (both our stays have been in October months.) We were contacted to tell us about the broken dishwasher. Thank you. However, as the dishwasher was broken, I would have expected some washing up liquid to have been provided but we had to go out and buy some. We did find several cobwebs - one or two in the kitchen cupboards! We stay in lots of self catering cottages and most owners provide a welcome with teabags and a pint of milk - or even a cake or packet of biscuits. Perhaps something for the owner to consider. We hope to return sometime as the location is really good. Can recommend Bakewell and Haddon Hall.

  • "It was an enjoyable stay but most essential amenities missing."

As has been said, gap in shower, not comfortable to use, and toilet spits out when flushed. We phoned the owner, leaving a voice message but to no avail to re adjust the central heating as it was too hot during the evenings. The cottage needs more cleaning especially inside kitchen cupboards and bathrooms.

Shower to small on opening gap so it doesn’t fully close toilet spit out when you flush it mattress too soft for us would off been nice to have a back garden to sit in no back door just front entrance

  • "The property is spacious and well equipped."

Close to many attractions, but in a quiet location. Unfortunately the negatives are that the furniture in the sitting room was very uncomfortable for both my husband and myself, due to the sofa, and the chairs being too low for us to get up and down comfortably! However the bed was very comfortable! I would say that for people with limited mobility may have problems with the internal steps, as I did! The shower would benefit from a slip mat, as could be dangerous as I found out myself. I personally feel that a little more attention to the cleaning of the cottage would be advantageous. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

  • "A stunning purpose-built cottage and very comfortable!"

The owner has considered everything you might need for self-catering and for your comfort, with high-end furniture and fittings. Appliances include a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The owner provides d/w tablets, washing machine detergent, coffee, tea, oil, salt and pepper mills (and a few UHT milk pots in case you forget to bring milk). There are televisions in the kitchen, lounge and bedroom. You will need a car to travel to shops or the pub. However, it’s a great cottage and we would happily return if in the area. Thank you. :-)

Thank you for your kind comment. Hope you will enjoy another stay in the cottage in the not to distant future. Many thanks Owner. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Broomfield."

The location is great for getting to the sights and there is lots to do just a short drive away. The bedroom at the property was cosy, the shower hot, the kitchen well-appointed, and there were more TVs than we could watch! It was a shame that the owners couldn't provide us with a fan, especially as we were at the property during a heatwave and had a baby to keep cool. This definitely made our stay less comfortable. There were also a few things missing that created small inconveniences - soap in the second bathroom, a new washing up sponge (the only one provided was tatty and ready for the bin), and enough dishwasher tablets to run the machine once a day. We did request these items but were told we had to provide them ourselves which meant an unwanted trip to the shops.

Thank you for your comment’s on Brookfield. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused, the items requested by you was not passed on to me by Sykes. I offer you my apology. Owner Property Owner

  • "I have to start by saying that this was a lovely comfortable cottage."

The bed was comfortable, kitchen was great and the property was in a great spot for exploring Derbyshire. The only issue I had was the lack of thought that had gone into the little things which make all the difference when renting a holiday property. I have stayed in many holiday properties over the years and can not think of one other occasion when there was not a milk in the fridge for our arrival. After a long journey the first thing you want is a cuppa! There was no salt/pepper/vinegar, dishwasher tablets or scrubber to do dishes, no clingfilm or foil and lastly when we emptied the bin for bin collection day during our stay there was no spare bin bags. I always bring some essentials on our holiday but do not expect to have and go and buy these sort of items. I have to say we did have a lovely holiday and the cottage was lovely but these little things were annoying. We picked up fish and chips on our way to cottage arrival and could not believe that there was no salt or vinegar!!

  • "The cottage is superbly equiped and furnished to a very high standard."

On a cold July evening the under floor heating coped very well without needing to use the fully provisioned wood burning stove in the lounge. The only slight downside is limited outside space (which we didn't need) and the bed mattress was a little soft for our liking but this apart Brookfield makes for a very relaxing stay.

Thanks for your comment, pleased you enjoyed your stay. Sorry the mattress was to soft for you as it was replaced only a few weeks ago because guests said the previous one was to hard. Owner Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage with everything you need to make it a home from home, exceptionally clean and peaceful, we would certainly return in the future."

Only two items in the cottage that we had any bother with, one was trying to to open the dishwasher door which is very difficult, and the other was the toaster which became incredibly hot on the outside. A quick word of advice for anyone staying here is to put the toilet lid down before you flush or else you'll get an extra shower
