"The Rumblings 2 is a fantastic cottage providing comfort and everything you might need during your stay."
The cottage was immaculately clean, the beds were very comfortable and the location is superb for visiting many areas in the Peak District. Would thoroughly recommend it and would love to be back one day. .

"Nice cottage no information about household rubbish disposal, shower hose needs replacing, and stair carpet loose still."
-
"It was excellent."
Very comfortable and clean in a very pretty and quiet location but only a very short drive to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Dronfield and Bakewell. The only tiny thing I would mention as an improvement was that the kitchen knives were not sharp and there were no scissors. And a Smart TV would be great. That feels like nit-picking though.

"Really lovely accommodation and setting."
A real gem of a place. Was lovely and clean and welcoming. Enjoyed a special break away. A few kitchen things missing which would have been helpful to have had but we coped and didn’t ruin it at all. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

"We had a lovely stay at The Rumblings 2."
The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable. It had everything we needed and a lovely touch from the owner who brought over some little treats after we arrived. The cottage is in a lovely location, nice and peaceful but not far from the lovely villages and attractions in the Peak District. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others.

"Everything perfect at the stay."
perfect place to stay. Please check the marker on google maps though. It took us to a farm, we were coming late and coming from the other side of the road, the directions on the website are not useful. If you at least give a screenshot of the google maps marker, it will be more useful. The motion sensor lights are a bit annoying in the parking. Especially they are floodlights. Completely washes out the night vision if you want to look up at the sky. I think there should be an option to turn them off.

"Very nice property, clean and tidy."
Very homely and suited us for our 7 night stay. 1 adult, 1 teenage child.

"I understand that it was the end of the season but the place was very tired and a little basic."
Dishwasher and washer dryer instead of washer would have been good. The log burner door was cracked and the electric heater in lounge was cool on one side. I don’t think the smoke or co2 detectors worked as the lounge filled with smoke first time the fire was used. Needed more soft furnishings and lamps in lounge area for comfort. I had to wash food off the walls in the kitchen. Both the sink and bath plugs did not hold water it soon drained away. Bath surround needed sealing and cleaning. Cracked and mismatched crockery. Carpet coming away on stairs previously reported by others not rectified. Quite worn. It was an ok stay. With some TLC it could have been amazing.

"We had a fantastic week away in this lovely cottage."
Fantastic location, we were about half an hour away from all the places we visited like Kinder Scout, The Heights of Abraham, Gulivers Kingdom , Matlock farm and Sheffield City centre. We would definitely go back and reccomend it to anyone.

"The cottage was in many aspects what we thought that it would be and in a few more it exceeded them."
On arrival the cottage was spotless and some welcome snacks with wine were provided, nice little touch. The kitchen area was very well equipped and spacious. All utensils, pots, pans, cooker and fridge etc were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the cottage. The lounge again was spacious, but a slight downside was that the sofa's weren't that comfy and 4 adults would struggle a bit. Ideal for a couple or a couple with maybe 1or 2 kids. The bedrooms again would be better suited to a couple or a couple with kids. Bathroom was more that adequate and a great shower. The heating system was extremely efficient to kick in and warm the place up after a days walking and the view from the rear of the Rumblings was absolutely fantastical, which was a bonus. As a base, I would stay here again and that's for sure!

"The cottage is cosy, possibly too small for four adults, but as a couple we really enjoyed our stay."
The location is perfect, very quiet, and the cottage was clean, well equipped and with a comfortable bed. Some great walks from the front door, and the National Park and Chatsworth are just a short drive away. We would certainly come back.

"A good little cottage, we liked the layout."
It was as described and adequate for 4 people. Some of the crockery needs to be replaced as was chipped when we arrived. Whoever was staying before us had not cleaned the cutlery, glasses and crockery very well. It was disappointing to have to wash everything again. The cottage is a little tired in places. The stair carpet is starting to fray and the bedside lamp shades need to be replaced as they are damaged. Despite this we were happy with our stay. Resolving these minor points would make the cottage fantastic. The parking space is small, which is something other visitors might like to be aware of.

"Lovely, spacious cottage."
Warm and cosy for a cold, wet week. Helpful and friendly owner. A bit hard to find in the dark and rain - there’s a derelict hut at the end of the driveway to the cottages. Might be worth mentioning in the instructions.

"The Rumblings 2 is a cute cottage with everything you need and is warm and comfortable."
I loved the simple decor and it felt welcoming and cosy. It's situated so conveniently for the Peak District but there are walks from the doorstep too. Plus Chesterfield isn't far away for when supplies get low! We had a lovely stay here.

"Lovely little cottage in very peaceful surroundings, commerce within easy reach ..."
Lovely little cottage in very peaceful surroundings, commerce within easy reach and at least one very nice pub/restaurant nearby

"We had a fabulous time at this lovely cottage."
Wine, milk and biscuits on arrival were a great touch. 10am checkout was a little early and would have liked 11am.

"The Rumblings (2) provided an ideal base for family Christmas."
The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable and easy to keep warm, an important feature when elderly parents (80+) are in residence. The owners had decorated the cottage for Christmas and there were welcome treats in the fridge (very nice touch). We would definitely consider returning to The Rumblings for future family holidays and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. Thanks for a great Christmas venue.

"We actually hired the cottage whist work was being carried out on our new property and so are local to where we stayed."
However, my daughter visited from Oxford and really thought (as did we) that the property and the owners were superb and couldn't have been easier and better to deal with. Thanks to them and you for making a difficult week very much easier

The Rumblings
Barlow 1 mile. A group of three delightful cottages carefully restored from an old barn in a small hamlet just a mile from the pretty village of Barlow, close to the Peak District National Park. These stone-built cottages have been converted to a high specification, giving a light, contemporary feel, and have open plan living areas with kitchen, dining and sitting areas. Each cottage has been equipped and furnished to a high standard and tastefully decorated. There is a woodburner in the sitting area, ideal to relax by on the comfy leather sofas on chilly winter evenings, and the original beams have been retained where possible, reflecting the character of the original barn. The cottages are surrounded by fields and delightful countryside views and even a duck pond along the lane. Why not wander down the footpath through the fields to the local pub and restaurant to enjoy a drink and a meal after a day's sightseeing? These cottages are ideal for a quiet retreat or as a base for exploring the stunning Peak District at any time of the year.
About the location
BARLOW
Chesterfield 4 miles; Sheffield 12 miles; Matlock 12.5 miles; Bakewell 12 miles.
Barlow is a pretty village situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park. An old mining village on the River Derwent dating back to the Domesday Book, it now boasts three pubs and a church. The village is situated in a rural location, surrounded by undulating countryside with deep valleys and high moors and is convenient for exploring the attractions of the Peak District.
There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, and its 1000-acre estate, magnificent gardens, farm and craft shop, children’s farmyard, play area and restaurant, and also nearby are Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. The historic market town of Chesterfield, with its famous 14th century church with a crooked spire, along with the lively city of Sheffield, are both within a short drive, as are the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton. An ideal location whatever the time of year.
