Woodman's Cottage

We have contacted the owner with photographic evidence of the pet hair problem in the downstairs of the cottage.

We have had a reply from the owner and she will be contacting her cleaning company with our information. The smell of dog was very strong and we had to vacuum the sofa,chairs and floor after our clothes were covered in pet hair. Otherwise it is a lovely cottage with excellent amenities in a delightful location.

We found the beautiful cottage comfortable and cosy on our recent stay.

It is ideally situated near to the Newmillerdam, with its lovely walks and close by pubs, restaurants and cafes. It makes a great base if fancy a trip into Leeds or Sheffield. Prior to our stay we needed to amend our dates and found the owner very accommodating. We will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful time staying at your property also loved the lake and local pubs and restaurants in walking distance.

The only slight negative for us was the bedding was not ironed and also Jeremy hit his head on the entrance to the stairs going up to the bedrooms might just need a sign or padding even though you mention in the description. We definitely would come back and stay again thank you Regards Angela and Jeremy

We had issues, mostly cleanliness and lack of maintenance.

The fridge, microwave and oven were all very dirty and not up to 4‑star standard. The instructions for the heating and underfloor heating were not contained in the folder marked “full instructions”. We had an emergency issue with the mixer tap when a leak sprayed out over the worktops and the kitchen window. The tap and the underfloor heating were fixed, and an apology was given for the dirty fridge. We had asked in advance for the king‑size bed to be separated into two twins, but this was not done. Overall, our 5 days were not that relaxing, and we were glad to go home.

Property was lovely.

Beds and bedding are beautifully comfortable and great quality. Whole cottage is very homely. Perfect location, right on the beautiful Newmiller Dam. Ideal place for dog walks. Also perfect for us to visit family so we will be hoping to book again.

We stayed a week at Woodman's Cottage and could not fault the accommodation.

Everything in the cottage was of excellent quality and no expense has been spared in providing everything you could need for a holiday. Unfortunately we weren't on holiday, but the cottage was a warm, cosy and ideal sanctuary at the end of some difficult days. We can only thank the owners for paying such attention to detail and should we need to be in the area in future we would not hesitate to book it again. Newmiller Dam is absolutely beautiful and Woodman's Cottage couldn't be better situated to take advantage of everything the place has to offer.

A decent quality cottage in a lovely location next to the lake.

Access is via a very steep lane only just suitable for vehicles, though there are about nine free spaces nearby at the bottom of the hill. Accommodation is warm and cosy. A microwave, advertised in the property description, was not present. The living room could do with more furniture, as could the main bedroom. Some books and games would be a nice touch.

Lovely property in an ideal location.

Dog friendly pubs serving good food within walking distance. Great walks around the dam. The cottage’s clean, comfortable and well appointed. Obviously it has been recently renovated to a very high standard. Whilst the property boasts most mod cons, for the sake of convenience, it would benefit from a microwave oven. Already checking dates for next year !!

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Comfortable and well appointed. Quiet, yet within easy reach of walks, pubs, places to eat, things to see and do and shops. We did feel the stairs to the bedrooms were quite steep with restricted headroom at the bottom which wasn’t mentioned on the property details. The only downside to the cottage is the parking outside - it’s on a narrow hill road, tight up against a wall and even for a confident driver, it was tricky to park without worrying about damaging the car. However, we were happy to walk the short distance from the free car parking at the bottom of the hill. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return again to explore more of the area and to enjoy the cottage, walks and local pubs.

We absolutely loved our stay at Woodman’s Cottage!

Beautifully presented and finished to a high standard with all amenities catered for. The heated floor in the bathroom was a much enjoyed bit of luxury. Perfectly situated to explore all the fantastic places Yorkshire has to offer. Great pubs and dining right on the doorstep and a stone’s throw away from the peaceful and tranquil lake which we walked around every day. The area was so quiet and it was a pleasure to sit out in the garden in the evening watching the lake trickle by in the distance. We met some lovely people during our stay - the staff in the pubs and restaurants were really helpful and friendly. Parking right outside the cottage was available but it was very tight so we made use of the free parking at the bottom of the street, once we’d unloaded our bags. Our only suggestion for an improvement would be a small dressing table and mirror in the main bedroom to make getting ready a bit easier and less time, certainly for someone like me, hogging the bathroom!

Absolutely stunning property, finished to a very high standard, with all mod cons and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in away from home Arrived when the temperature was 30 degrees, but inside was a surprisingly cool 20 degrees and a welcome respite from the outside heat.

Very quiet area set away up a narrow road with a view of the lake from the garden and only a minutes walk from it. Perfect for walking the dogs in the cooler shade of the woodland. Pubs and restaurants only a couple of minutes walk and less than 5 mins drive to a big supermarket. I would definitely stay here again
