  • "Just back from a lovely Christmas week at Edge View 22-29/12 Cottage was very tastefully decorated, finished to a very high standard, all amenities and fully equipped, able to cook a lovely Christmas dinner As it was Christmas and we had plenty of food to cater for 4, one thing to note the fridge/freezer is on the small side, could only fit a few small items in the freezer section and could not get everything in the fridge Owners kindly decorated for Christmas and surprised us with flowers, local spring water, mulled wine and mince pies: greeted by Bruce the owner who made us feel very welcome Set in rural location with some single track lanes to cottage, however plenty of places to pull in for ongoing vehicles and locals very courteous Ideal for walkers and bikes, would love to revisit in the summer The cottage itself is spacious, there were 4 adults and there was ample room, 2 bedrooms plus a bathroom and en-suite, one with bath and overhead shower, the other en-suite a shower cubicle with a lovely, power shower, beds very comfortable, black out curtains and blind Open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area with 2 sofas, dining table and to top it off a log burner which made it very cosy on those wet, windy days."

Central heating throughout Garden to rear of property with a bunker for storing bikes if needed, we saw birds, squirrels, sheep and horses: would be lovely to sit out in, in the summer Owners provided a folder of local amenities and recommendations for local pubs, restaurants: we ate at The Green Dragon in Church Stretton on Christmas Eve and highly recommend We visited Ludlow and the Farm Shop on the way to Ludlow, also has a nice cafe We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would definitely visit it again Thank you to Bruce for making us feel very welcome and we had a lovely Christmas

  • "Edge View is a wonderful, comfortable, and excellently presented holiday home set in an idyllic location."

Arriving to a bunch of flowers and home made cake we found everything we needed for a quiet week away. Access is via a 2 mile country lane where you will at some time meet some large artics from the Spring Water factory, but apart from that you will hardly notice the fact you are just down the lane from their warehouse, and you will find complimentary bottled if spring water throughout the cottage. I can highly recommend Edge View if you like walking country as you are only minutes from several well rated walking areas in the Shropshire Hills, and the cottage actually enjoys views across to Wenlock Edge.

  • "This was our second stay at Edge View, and again we enjoyed ourselves very much."

The cottage is very comfortable, attractive and spacious, with enough storage space. The views from inside and from the front and back gardens are beautiful: Wenlock Edge nearby on one side and the Long Mynd in the distance on the other. We found Bruce, the owner, both friendly and helpful. It's a great location for walking, and there’s plenty to see in the area, such as the Shropshire Discovery Centre, Stokesay Castle, Buildwas Abbey, and the lovely towns of Ludlow, Church Stretton and Much Wenlock. We found several good places to eat, including Dorrington’s Horseshoes, the Pound in Leebotwood and the Clive Arms in Bromfield. We certainly hope to return, and can thoroughly recommend the cottage.

Lovely welcome with flowers and a delicious sponge. Driving on the narrow lanes requires care but little traffic normally. Our second visit and we will probably return for another week next year. Recommended.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in a very quiet location."

When weather permits you can sit in the cottage garden and enjoy the views of the hills. Due to it’s remote location there is at least a 2 mile drive down narrow country lanes but with many good places to pull over if a vehicle is coming in the other direction. The cottage description refers to a Fridge/Freezer, I think the latter might be down to options on Sykes website, what it actually is is a fridge with the top part of the fridge having an ice box - full width and depth of the fridge. Having a washer dryer is a bonus.

  • "This was our first cottage break since lockdown so it was always going to be good."

Edge View far exceeded our expectations in every way. It was in a really quiet location with wonderful views from both front and back gardens. The property had been skilfully converted from a farm-worker's cottage and was simply excellent. Everything was of the highest standard, both tasteful and comfortable. We really cannot fault it and it provided us with the welcome break we had hoped for. Sincere thanks are due to the owners.

  • "Edge View is a delightful cottage in a superb location - an ideal base for exploring the Shropshire countryside."

It was spacious but had a warm and cosy feel to it. The views out of all the windows were delightful as was the warm welcome we received by the owner and the lovely cake and flowers left out for us on arrival. The bed was super comfy, the showers hot and powerful, it had great kitchen facilities (including a super coffee maker) and the wood burner was a real treat too. We loved the peace and quiet of the area and could just relax in the comfort of the cottage straight away. A really lovely holiday.

  • "The cottage is very well furnished and equipped, although I feel that it needs a DVD player."

Its position is great with lovely views and total peace and quiet. Hardly another property to be seen or road to be heard. Lots of safe walking opportunities around about. I was there when lock-down, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, was announced (23 March 2020) and I felt so safe, that I stayed until the end of my holiday. In fact, I would have liked to have stayed longer as it was so beautifully isolated and ideal for recharging the batteries. Sadly, because of the lock-down, I was unable to visit any local attractions. However, this means that I can look forward to my next visit to Edge View and to exploring the lovely area better. The owners were very accommodating and did everything they could to make my stay a safe and pleasant one.

  • "Well thought out, nicely decorated cottage."

It’s ideally situated for local walks and attractions in Shropshire. It’s located off a private lane so it’s fairly quiet. There is a country road next to it but the traffic doesn’t disturb you. There’s a good size garden at the rear – it’s not fully enclosed but great for kids to run round in. You’ll probably find sheep and horses grazing in the next field and you might get the odd visit from the owner’s dog too. There’s a large bunker outside for wet outdoor clothes which would be big enough for bikes and outdoor gear which I’m sure would be ideal for bike lovers. As the cottage is all one level, it’s great if you have a young child or mobility issues. Our little one loved running round the chimney breast, but slipped a few times on the rug so we decided it was best to roll it up and pop it in the cupboard whist we were there. The wood fire was lovely in the evening, and plenty of wood and tinder were provided. There is central heating too but as the kitchen and living space is all open plan, we found the thermostat let the temperature drop too low before kicking back and sometimes felt a little chill before it heated back up again. The kitchen was well equipped and even had a great coffee maker too. (Coffee pods, instant coffee, tea and sugar supplied). The oven is electric, fridge is half size and comes with a freezer box. Basic cleaning products (washing up liquid, sponges, dishwasher tabs) were supplied along with tea towels which is always handy so you don’t need to bring your own. The beds are quite high so would recommend bed guards for toddlers. The mattresses are spring formed and we all found them comfortable. The towels were soft and absorbent (Egyptian cotton) with bath sheets in the master and bath towels in the second room. Showers in both the ensuite and main bathroom were great too (which is always a bug bear of mine!). The owners seemed nice. Not intrusive at all. We arrived to find some beautiful flowers and a delicious sponge cake which was really appreciated. They popped by to make sure we were all ok and had everything we needed which was nice. I personally would have found an iron, hair dryer and DVD player useful too but overall a nice cottage, and lovely break - would recommend to others looking for a break in the Shropshire area.

On a clear night you have amazing views of the stars as there is no light pollution. It is a superb base for walking the Shropshire Hills. There are walks from the bungalow while the Long Mynd and other places with great walks are just a short distance away. This is also an ideal base for visiting the many attractions in Shropshire. The bungalow is spacious and comfortable, a very pleasant place to stay. We enjoyed the Christmas lights on the tree in the garden and the Christmas tree and decorations in the lounge area. The crackers, mince pies and mulled wine were much appreciated too. We also enjoyed the Christmas services at St Laurence's Church in Church Stretton, where we were made very welcome.

The cottage had a lovely light and sunny feel, with modern style furniture, soft fluffy towels and comfortable beds. Lovely added touches of fresh flowers and home baked cake welcomed us, Bruce the owner was very informative. The weather was sunny, but there was the use of a wood burner should the weather had turned colder. Situated half an hour from The Iron Bridge Gorge Museums, there is certainly plenty to visit whilst staying at Edge View. Thoroughly recommend.
