1 Customer Review

  • "Days before we arrived, I requested a cot and high chair."

We were assured these would be provided but told that we would need to bring mattress linen for the cot. Given that babies have accidents, we took specific mattress measurements and ensured we had an appropriate fitted sheet. Check‑in itself was smooth, and we stayed in one of the Epic properties, which were well located near reception and the milk shed. When we entered the property, everything was clean and smelled pleasant, but it was extremely hot. Without all doors and windows open, it was quite unbearable, even on warm spring days. The heating also appeared to be on a timer, as the radiator came on at around 4am. When checking the bedrooms, we realised there was no cot or high chair present. These had to be requested again. The base provided was described as a mattress, but it was only a thin, rigid cot base and not suitable for a child. Our 18‑month‑old ended up sleeping on a folded duvet due to this. Only two toilet rolls were provided for six people for the stay. While I understand this is self‑catering, this felt inadequate for what is advertised as a luxury stay. The property also included an instant boiling water tap, but there were no instructions provided on how to use it. The restaurant on site is not dog friendly, and dogs cannot be left alone in the accommodation, which limited dining options. In the kitchen, there was a salt and pepper shaker provided but it was empty. The scenery and setting are lovely, especially in good weather. The hot tub is a nice feature; however, the water level dropped quickly after use, and use is restricted after 10pm. The site is built on a steep hill, which may be difficult for those with mobility issues or pushchairs. Overall, while the location and setting are attractive, the stay did not meet our expectations, and we do not feel it was the right fit for us.

LAUGHARNE

Tenby 16 miles.

Laugharne, with its majestic castle standing on a low ridge overlooking the wide Taf River Estuary, is famous for its associations with the poet Dylan Thomas, and a visit to his Boat House and the writing shed where he wrote most of his works is a wonderful experience. Beautiful walks in and around the castle, with breathtaking views of the estuary, can be followed by cream teas in quaint little tea rooms, a drink in the local pub or shopping in the gift shops and mini market. The nearby sandy beach at Pendine is where many land speed records have been famously set on its seven mile stretch of beautiful flat sand, and a little further afield are the seaside resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot. With walks in all directions, great days out at castles, mills and craft centres galore, this is a perfect base for all the family, at any time of the year.
