What guests are saying
The property is absolutely disgusting.
Nothing was clean. The kitchen had a horrible smell of burnt food, which open windows did little to alleviate. The toaster was burnt jet black inside. The oven trays were thick with grease. The TV only worked for an hour during the time we were at the property. The kitchen tap spun round and ran continuously. The mugs all had brown stains in. The plates were greasy, as was all the cutlery. There was a thick, and I do mean thick, layer of dust on everything in the flat. The towels were hard and stuff and the bedding smelt stale. Two if the windows had blown and were impossible to see out of. The list goes on and on. Upon reading previous reviews, these same issues have been reported over and over again, over a long period of time. The owner of the property has done nothing to correct the state of the place. The best part was leaving early, getting away from the dust and grime, and going home. Please think twice, or even three times before booking here, or with Sykes, who are currently refusing to refund any money - you have been warned!!!!
Images to evidence!
Hairs in the shower Wee under the seat Dirty crockery, hairs on them Greasy pans Kettle base dirty Microwave dirty Bottom of the oven is dirty Cobwebs noticeable throughout all windows and walls Kitchen blind stained Under the beds very dusty Under the sofa was items from past visitors, hair brush, deodorant can, tissues and lots of dust Skirting boards need a good clean Sink water came up into the bath tub, very smelly and food bits in it Floors dirty on arrival, socks disgusting colour after walking around in white socks, the bottoms were black This would not comfortably fit 6 people. 4 maximum was workable. The table provided just fits 4, no way 6! It would be overcrowded with more than 4. Key to the beach doesn’t work The torch is dead Towels provided are very small and one was disgusting with dried brown stuff on it Woke up very sneezy and this is usually because of dust, I don’t think the cleaner is doing a full job at all The code given for the outdoor key isn’t correct, luckily the neighbours told us the right code Good location, however window cleaners and grass cutters are very early and loud, and bin men. Beds are comfy, bedding smelt fresh.
The location of the accommodation is one of the few positives.
It is set back from the main road and is part of several blocks of flats that have private access to the beach. There are lots of amenities within walking distance. However, the flat is very tired and in need of updating. The furniture is cheap, basic and not very comofrtable. There were chips on some of the furntiture and the arm/side of the sofa was loose. The blind in the lounge area was broken and the kitchen tap needs replacing. When we emptied the kitchen sink, the water sometimes bubbled up in the bath and it was bad smelling. There was an unpleasant smell in the flat whenever we entered it, regardless of how often we opened the windows. The floors were not well cleaned, neither was the oven nor the windows (lots of cobwebs inside the windows). Although the flat can sleep 6, I would not advise having 6 people staying. It would best suit 2 adults and 2 children maximum. We were really looking forward to our one week away with our little dog and thankfully the weather was kind so we could be out on the beach as much as possible, but the level of accommodation was not as expected and we will not return to this particular flat again.
