  • "Lovely lodge in a beautiful location"

  • "The property needs a lot of tlc paid to it."

They are about 14 years old atnd need a refit! The toilet seats in both rooms were loose. Shower was very hard to turn on and off. Had to get a cloth to do it! Door handles were loose on 2 doors, 1 of the table chairs is loose, I shut my finger in the seat! Plates and glasses have chips in them, Oven is hard to use as temperatures are rubbed off. Could not get the dryer to work. Dust and dirt at low level hanging off the radiators, tv all grime above it. Poor decking and steps up to the front door all need retreating looks very scruffy! Grass is far too long when fishing feet get soaking wet!! Very low level water, needs filling up not good for Fishing you could see the mud on the bank, water is very dirty which was a shame as it is a nice spot and very quiet. There needs to be rubbish bins by the lodges not all the way up by the entrance track. We did not get any information about door code, wifi etc I had to phone the owners number. There should be an info pack on arrival etc with information on.

We don't usually post a reply as comments are usually constructive. However, the content of this review is quite simply untrue. Our lodges are 7 years old and we agree that they are in need some minor updating and repainting. However, most of what is needed quite simply cannot be done whilst guests are staying in the lodges and as we have been fully booked for most of the summer, the work has been scheduled for later in the year when the lodges are quieter. We should point out that were not made aware of any of the things that the guests complained in their review. Had we known, then of course we would have rectified them. With regards to the tumble dryer not working, there is a guest equipment manual in each lodge, so the instructions regarding how to make the tumble dryer work would have been in this folder. Alternatively they could have used the free WiFi in our lodges to find out how to operate the dryer or called us. With regards to the fishing, we had 2 lots of guests staying in 2 of our other lodges at the same time as this guest and they have both sent us messages and photographs saying how wonderful the lake is and how great the fishing was. We have photographs to show that the grass is not long and the banks of the lake are not muddy. The lake and the fish in it are very healthy. The water level is a bit low at the moment as the lake has recently been dredged. However, this did not stop other guests catching over 40 fish during their stay the same week. With regards to the rubbish bins, it is common practice with sites that have multiple units that there is a central rubbish collection point. Information regarding door code etc is emailed to guests when they book. Property Owner

  • "The general appearance was very good but the property could do with a little tlc."

The blinds are in a poor condition and some are impossible to use. The bottom bed sheet in the double bed was very thin and did not fit the bed. The coffee table had a very loose leg and could be quite dangerous. Glasses in the cupboard were of a very mixed content and made drinking a challenge. No vacuum cleaner. The deck was being treated when we were trying to eat on it and enjoy the nice weather. With a little work the property would easilt be rated as excellent

Another huge plus point was that the beds had very good mattresses (possibly even memory foam) which is something that many properties let you down on.

We've stayed in many lodges over the years and this is the best kept and stylish of all. The view over the lake in the mornings is wonderful and all you can hear is birdsong (and in honesty the occasional jet plane flying over). Can't fault this property at all.

  • "Has the main bed been changed?"

We seem to remember it being a King Size and not a Double. Unfortunately we find the Double a little constraining. Secondly, there would seem to be a problem with the TV aerial connection being physically broken on the Lounge TV. We lost the TV signal at one point and had to 'try' and recover it by gently touching the broken connector to the signal wire and then keeping our fingers crossed.

  • "Set in a quiet backdrop overlooking a fishing lake, these lodges are a perfect place to spend a week relax doing nothing, or use as a base to explore the amazing sites around North Somerset."

Our lodge was extremely well appointed, very comfortable both inside and outside with enough lounge chairs for everything. The kitchen is well equipped for home cooking with enough utensils you could need, a full sized fridge freezer, dishwasher, electric over and gas cooker. There’s even a washer dryer. There are 2 bathrooms (one an en-suite) and one with a bath, good showers in both. When we stayed, there were two geese, they may seem aggressive, and may fly at the lodges the first time you open the balcony doors, but trust me, they are friendly, and if you leave them alone they will leave you alone, but if you feed them, they will be at your door every morning. We couldn’t fault anything of our stay, and we were all extremely sad to leave. Next time we holiday in U.K., we will definitely come back to the lodge.

  • "Booked with Sykes but then received and email from the lodge owners."

Within the email had lots of detail including highlighted text saying the internet was restricted and not to be used for streaming. Well taking a 15yr old this news was like facing the firing squad. We emailed the owners but had no response? In the end his xbox work great and he was happy during the stay. The lodge was great but geese were a big problem! If you can imagine a great setting overlooking a lake, lovely grass area down to the fishing pegs but full of goose poo. It was covered everywhere. If you had small children this would have been a show stopper. We love wildlife but hissing geese around adults is bad enough but would not have been able to have children near them. It is a shame about the couple of negatives as the lodge and views were stunning.
