  • "We both fell in love with this cottage, it was comfortable, peaceful and relaxing, with everything you need."

We spent a lovely week here, it is in need of some tlc, but that didn't bother us and we would definitely stay here again

Glad you enjoyed staying,TLC is true, but the weather (Welsh rain) tends to switch on every time I want to repaint the exterior,I,m sure the rain god is tracking me ! thanks for the review and stay safe. Steve & Duds the spotty dog! Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was lovely, can't fault it."

It's a lovely little place. Would definitly like to go back in the summer when the weather is kinder to enjoy a bbq outside and sit on the nice decking area. We wanted a nice quiet area to stay and this is definitly that. With a decent shop about 3 miles away that is very reasonably priced. My only downside is, and this is nothing to do with the property. Most places/attractions are a 40 min plus drive away i.e Tenby, Pembrokeshire. Some attractions are nearer but it all depends what you want to see or do. It is very nice at night, all peaceful, and thats what we wanted. I suppose it's hard to find the balance of nice and quite but near all the big places too. But a lovely place over all and a nice bottle of wine and logs provided. Always wanted to try a log fire.....wasn't disappointed.

Hi,It does have central heating you know!, man discovered fire 50,000 yrs ago, what took you so long ! Glad you enjoyed yourselves,S.west wales has a mountain of things to do,but being rural means a bit of searching. hope your journey home was good and safe, you take care. Property Owner

Thanks Steve for the use of your lovely cottage and for letting Koda do zoomies all around your own personal garden, although not sure the lovely Duds the dog appreciated it. Would we stay at Taliharris again, we most definitely would.

I have been twice and it truly is a place where I can really relax. Steve and Dudley his dog welcome you to the cottage when you arrive and when you go inside you find little treats around the cottage. Talliharris is set in a beautiful location, great for seeing more red kites than I've ever seen and stars in abundance due to no light pollution.

Your trying to embarrass me are you not!! great to see you again,I will change the Quality streets for something else! (no,not for the guests, for me!!! Cos I have to eat the rest of the box!), You must have spied the satellites coming over too ,no Pease for the wicked ! Hope your home trip was safe. take care. Steve and Dudley the Dalmatian. • "The area is very pretty and peaceful and the cottage well equipped and had far too many towels for just 2 people for 1 week stay."

The owner provided treats for both dog and humans such as wine milk tea coffee sugar sweets logs but whilst these were very nice , I would have preferred kindling, matches and paper and a clean ready to use wood burner., a properly working shower ( it was just a trickle, extractor in bathroom wasn’t working either). Toilet was slightly blocked on our arrival (something an owner should have checked during cleaning ( if that had been done properly). I sorted it myself quickly enough. Bed linen whilst clean was not the correct size for the bed size. Window blinds missing in the bedroom. Sofa and lounge floor covered in white dog hairs. Owners dog had left a ‘welcome gift’ of their own on path down to cottage (owner did clean this away quickly but more appeared during our stay.) The outside area was very over grown , long grass and weeds. I would not return to this cottage which falls far short of the usual standard I expect from a Sykes cottage. Such a shame as with just a little bit more effort on part of the owner regarding maintenance, it would be a good cottage.

dear Wendy, thankyou for your kind remarks Im sure some of my guests are putting me to the test !,, Too many towels provided next week ill put down 2 each, probably come up with a moan theres not enough,, cant win can I ?wood& kindling is provided free, out of my own pocket, sorry about the lack of matches, I couldnt affored them.! shower?? try adjusting it.extractor fan >> try switching it on, there is i sign on the switch (in English) one can be provided in Welsh, irish,or Scotish, sorry I cant do brail.Toilet is a Masirator if it was blocked the safety sensor would have shut it down.strange that eh?alldog poo is allways asap its a dog friendy cottage, read the discription before booking. • "When we arrived we went to the cottage which the owner said would be open which it was,we heard voices and thought someone was in there, turns out tv was on,thought it was a bit odd,my husband went to the bathroom and there was a silicone gun left on the toilet clearly something had been mended and it left there."

As we looked around I thought there had been some sort of emergency and the owner had to leave in a hurry. The downstairs had not been vacuumed there was dog hairs and grass everywhere, the stairs looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for about a month. Looking further there were cobwebs everywhere, now in a Welsh cottage I expect a few but these was clearly there a long time, even the previous review said there were cobwebs behind the bedside cabinets but nothing had been done about it.The shower screen was slimy and black, when I went to put the washing machine on it was black behind the soap tray and I had to clean it before use.All the kitchen units had food down them and had to be scrubbed. The strange thing is there was plenty of cleaning products available I just wasn’t expecting to have to use them all before I started my holiday. We actually left early because it was disappointing.I feel it’s really bad that people really look forward to their holidays and should not be faced with this. At least the next people in might get on better because I’ve cleaned a lot of it. On the plus side it’s a lovely area with good views, there was everything provided and lots of extras, plenty of hot water and lovely to have a dishwasher and washing machine. I have never given a bad review before but think that maybe this place needs inspecting again to bring up to standard.

Hi helen, sorry I left the TV on that must have been a trawmatic for you, Im not going to apologise as the silicone gun,,, probably saved your life in the toilet, I am sorry about the cement mixer in the lounge I should have cleaned it.the dog hair is a normal day to day thing in a doggy friendy cottage, try checking out the doggy icon in the details.as for the cobwebs I counted 465 , you missed a few !! i,ts a strange thing all the cleaning products are there along with the washing powder & softener provided so you could wash your clothes before going home, Oh forgot about the shower,,I jet washed it down to make sure it was cleaned properly. Im so pleased you enjoyed your complimentry free bottle of wine and chocolates with tea, coffee,+milk etc ,, Hope you got home safe n sound and didnt complain about the traffic too much Kind regards Steve + Duddly the damation. • "The general cleanliness was not good."

We had to wash cooking utensils before using them, there was also bits of hair and dirt in the drawer of the kitchen units. The cullender had green stuff on the bottom of it, so whoever had previously been there had not washed up properly and there's even a dishwasher. So there's really no reason for it not to be clean. The microwave was also in a filthy state with bits of food splattered inside it. There were cobwebs by the fire extinguisher and down the back of one of the bedside cabinets. Additionally, the walkway down to the property is very treacherous, particularly after it's rained, it was rather slippy and one of the steps appears to have broken in two and when I stepped on it, part of it slid from under my foot because of the wet soil/muddy texture underneath and I almost lost my footing. This needs to be rectified, it's only a matter of time before someone does fall, particularly if it's wet. The final thing is that we could not see anywhere to put, or any instructions where to put, our rubbish, nor the dog's poo bags. Consequently, we ended up leaving our rubbish in black bags inside the doorway and I had to leave the dog poo bagged up outside, with the little bags all bagged up in a bigger bag. This is not what we would normally do on a holiday, but we could not find anything in the information folder in regard to this. If it is in there, it needs to be made clearer. Or place suitable bins by the cottage for this. We took photos of the above problems (microwave, drawer, cullender, walkway.etc) should you need to see them.
