The property

2 Cheriton Cottages is a gorgeous 19th-century cottage set in a pretty garden, surrounded by woods and farmland, outside the village of Stackpole (home to the popular Stackpole Inn).

Located on the outskirts of the National Trust Stackpole Estate, with its peaceful woodland walks, iconic lily ponds and historic gardens, it makes a wonderful retreat for families or groups of friends alike and is ideally located for enjoying the area’s beautiful beaches, walking on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, or exploring nearby towns such as Pembroke, Tenby or Narberth.

The central of three cottages that were originally built for employees on the estate, it has a large, open plan lounge area with comfy sofas and a wood burner and a separate kitchen/breakfast room, with a large table and plenty of space, perfect for family meals.

Interiors combine a traditional cottage feel with more contemporary touches.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms (2 doubles, one twin) with attractive beamed ceilings and a newly fitted family bathroom with an electric shower.

The private south-east facing garden has a patio with dining furniture meaning you can enjoy relaxed breakfasts soaking up the morning sun, or a well-deserved Welsh cake on your return from the beach.

Two Cheriton Cottages is ideally located to explore the surrounding area, with three superb sandy beaches within 15-20 minute drive: Broadhaven South – ideal for swimming, sandcastles and games of cricket at low-tide; award-winning Barafundle, with its beautiful views, soft sands and clear waters; and Freshwater West – a favourite with surfers and rock poolers alike.

A half hour drive brings you to the seaside town of Angle, with its large beach at West Angle Bay, café and friendly pubs including the popular Old Point House.

Those who are keen on more active pursuits can enjoy paddle-boarding or coasteering at Stackpole Quay.

Walkers will be in heaven as you can walk from the cottage directly to the woodland paths through the Stackpole Estate, meandering alongside lily ponds which are home to herons, swans and (for those lucky enough to see them) otters.

The paths ultimately lead to the beaches – making a walk to either Barafundle or Broadhaven beach an appealing option.

Nearby Pembroke is convenient for shops – including supermarkets as well as local butchers, greengrocers and cafes, and also home to historic Pembroke Castle.

Manorbier also makes a great day trip, with its fascinating castle and tea rooms and lovely beach, as well as a good starting point for coast walks.

The attractive seaside town of Tenby – approximately half an hour’s drive away – is perfect for whiling away an afternoon, exploring its boutiques, clothes shops, bakeries and cafes, as well as mackerel fishing trips from the quayside.

Inland, visit the market town of Narberth, home to some gorgeous independent clothes shops, stylish galleries and tempting delis and cafes.

Those in search of a quiet cup of tea with a slice of homemade cake are spoilt for choice.

The Walled Gardens at Stackpole is a lovely spot to relax in, with a choice of refreshments as well as freshly picked vegetables from the gardens, whilst Stackpole Quay has a National Trust café with lovely views over the Quayside.

For families, there are plenty of rainy-day options.

Folly Farm is perfect for younger children, with its soft play area, fairground rides and wildlife viewing.

For older families, Oakwood theme park has a thrilling range of rides and coasters, whilst award-winning Heatherton, with its go-karts, bumper boats, zip lines and jump slides, is also a popular option.

With so much to see and do, 2 Cheriton Cottages is sure to be a memorable escape for you and your loved ones.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
