  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Llanelli."

The house was in a lovely quiet area but really close to a retail park (5 mins drive) for supermarket, shopping and fast food. Generally, the house was well-equipped, warm and comfortable. It is all nicely decorated, someone else has commented that the settees feel tired - we didn't think so; and the TV/Wifi were both fine and worked well. The garden is fairly small but it did the job for the dogs, parking was fine and there are lots of walks and beaches nearby. There were a few things we noticed that would make it even better, these are relatively small things and did not massively affect our holiday: 1. the house needs more bins - there is just one bin in the whole house, it needs bathroom bins and one in the living room. 2. The mattress on the kingsize bed is very soft and seems like it needs replacing as it feels as though it is slanted away from the middle on both sides (I still slept well on it though!). 3. The double room needs a mirror. 4. We were surprised that there was no spare bin liner, and no toilet roll in the downstairs toilet (not good when you dash in after a long journey!), and some cleaning spray etc would have helped us to leave things clean and tidy. We would definitely return!

  • "The property was lovely and clean when we arrived."

It was easy to find and had lovely views across the golf course to the Gower. It had a secure garden which was essential for us with a dog. Unfortunately, both the back garden lightbulbs had blown which wasn’t the end of the world as the light from the kitchen and patio windows lit the garden. Parking was very good with a wide shared drive. Since our holiday was at the beginning of October and it had gone particularly cold it was great to be at this property which was always lovely and warm. Lidl supermarket is very close to the property.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the house, which was comfortable, in a great location with lovely views and lots of areas to explore near and beyond."

We would however like to make the following points, some major and some minor - - the 'short walk to the beach' was actually just over a mile, which should be more clearly stated - the general garden maintenance left a bit to be desired and was a shame as it was such a nice outside space, eg, there was some dog mess on the grass, some bagged up dog mess around and partially full bins, the grass could also do with a cut. - there were no microwavable containers - a sink drainer would be useful, which would be useful for anyone who does not wish to use the dish-washer, as we did not - there are no bowls for pasta / soup other than very small cereal bowls On a positive, we quickly raised the issues of 2 light bulbs not working in the en-suite, the TV not working and the dog mess on our arrival with Sykes Customer Services, who sent a lovely rep round and resolved these issues, which was very much appreciated. We were advised that cleaners do not clear the garden so this was probably down to quite possibly previous occupiers however, this should not be left for new occupiers to deal with Other than that, we had a lovely holiday in the property and hope our comments are taken as valuable feedback

Cleaning has improved to a good standard compared with poor cleaning last visit. Walls could use a coat of paint in some areas. Garden is fully enclosed and we were pleased the grass had been cut - which is Ideal for dogs. Two bulbs not working in centre living room light. Three bulbs not working in landing light. Light in main family bathroom not working at all. Overalll the property is in a lovely quiet area with an outstanding outlook over the golf course and estuary. The property is well equipped, modern and a lovely place to stay. Shops are close by and a great place for exploring the Gower.

The garden and the parking area was very secure and in a quiet neighborhood The house was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and was exactly as the description and photos. • "We love the Machynys area of Llanelli & know it well."

The property was well positioned and convenient for everything we wanted. Unfortunately although the furniture and furnishings were comfortable, we found the lack of instructions & information very unsatisfactory, especially when we had a leak from the en suite onto the hall ceiling which we reported to Sykes on the Monday morning as no local number was given. However by the time we left to come home on the Friday, nobody had come out to inspect. We did not use the en suite during that time and any damage could have been so much worse. We also felt that there should be bins in the bathroom and bedroom plus some cleaning materials and spare bulbs. Having said all this, we did enjoy our stay.

  • "A really lovely cottage."

We arrived a couple of hours early as from the website the cottage appeared to have been free the day before. We seemed to “run into” the cleaners who were just arriving. This wasn’t really a problem as we went to the very nice golf club for lunch. On our return the cottage was very clean apart from rubbish being piled up in the bins out the back and overflowing in the garden. Kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans etc but a few more dishwasher tablets would have been helpful - we had one to last three days. Apart from these small problems we had a lovely time. The view was great and the road was extremely quiet. A very relaxing few days. We have booked again for Christmas!

  • "This was our 3rd stay at this property."

Unfortunately, like previous comments the cleaning wasn’t up to standard and bathrooms need some redecoration. There were no mattress protectors on any of the beds. The king size mattress is quite stained along with the dressing table stool. The double bed sheet was dirty, work surfaces, fridge and food cupboard had to be cleaned. Also the sofas are starting to look quite tired. There were no baking sheets. The caretaker brought round roasting tins, but there were several of those in the cupboard. Just so disappointed as it wasn’t as good as the other times we have been. Having said that Sykes acted quickly and within 24 hours the beds were sorted. Although the problems were resolved you don’t want to have to deal with this. The grass was cut 2 days before we left which made a difference especially with a dog. All information about the house was on our email from Sykes which was good. We did have trouble signing into Netflix. The only way it worked was to unplug the tv and plug it back in again, then sign in again. Even though we had these problems we did have a lovely holiday. The house is really nice and a good area to visit. Just hoping all will be up to standard if we go back again.

  • "No dishwasher tablets."

It’s a delightful property in a lovely location but let down by some cleaning neglected (e.g.bedroom mirror) and overall cleaning a bit slapdash. Couldn’t find any instructions e.g. what to do with rubbish/bins. Grass uncut which led to messier dogs.

Thanks for your feedback, for the cleaning we have passed on your comments to the cleaning provider for improvements to be made. For instructions for the rubbish bins etc we use to leave a hard-copy in the house however this was often misplaced. Due to this the instructions for rubbish and everything else (e.g. WIFI etc) is sent to you via email when you book, so that it is more accessible. For the grass I have also notified the gardening service as I think they assumed due to the weather/winter that it was not due, apologies for this. Thanks for staying and your valuable feedback and hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

Heating works well nice en-suite complementary biscuits etc. the only one thing I’d say is the communication between me and the host wasn’t as good as I expected. When I paid there was some technical error and I wasn’t sure if the house had been properly confirmed. I was assured later it was but I text the host on the day when we were on route (7hrs) to check if the keys were there and everything was ok but still haven’t had a reply and we’ve finished our stay! Overall cleanliness was good, but if you looked a bit closer there was a lot of dust on skirting boards and harder to reach areas and a number of cobwebs. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard and the beds were extremely comfortable. There are only a couple of minor things we would mention: a) it would be useful to have small bins in the bathrooms/bedrooms b) the kitchen needs a cheese grater and ovengloves (the silicon ones provided were really difficult to grip with as they are just too stiff and unwieldy) c) TV - there have been other comments about this and we would just add that we too had great difficulty in sorting it out! Otherwise a great stay and we hope to come again.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for your feedback, it’s extremely valuable to us as we always thrive to learn from our wonderful customers. Unfortunately help was not available until Monday but it was fixed very quickly on Monday. We were disappointed to find that the dustbins had not been emptied. Both bins were overflowing and there were numerous bottles on the floor. We did not know this until we were leaving and wanted to put our rubbish in the bin. Some instruction manuals for oven, washing machine and dryer would have been helpful. Waste bins in the en-suite and family bathroom would have been useful.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for your feedback, it’s extremely valuable to us as we always thrive to learn from our wonderful customers. We have stayed in many self catering properties within the British Isles and have always appreciated a welcome pack and a visitors guest book. This was sadly lacking so had no information about where to eat locally apart from the golf club and having a 5 and 8year old was not appropriate. My husband and I being dinosaurs had difficulties with the TV as there was no information. s

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the house itself, it really is a beautiful home to stay in. Regarding a few issues that you had; We proudly provide a basic welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, dishwasher tablets etc, so are very sorry that this didn’t meet your standards. It’s something that we’ll take on board. The house also provides a great visitors book that recommends places to visit go/ activities to do within the area, but fortunately because there are so very many wonderful eateries (that accommodate all ages and pockets) within a 0.5-3mile radius from the house, we simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with the ever-changing recommendations for our guests with regards to that, so is why we choose not to, so sorry. With regards to the TV, we have ensured that there are extremely easy to follow, point-by-point instructions on how to access the correct TV channel on our digital Welcome pack to refer to…I hope this helps future guests. As always, we strive to learn from our customers feedback to help our future guests make the most of the home and its surrounding areas, so we thank you for all feedback given and hope to host you again in the future. Everything you need in the kitchen, can't fault it. Only thing that would be helpful is an information folder with details of everything, it's more useful than constantly referring back to the email. Also there is no emergency contact, we had an alarm go off one evening, appeared to be coming from downstairs bathroom or locked area of utility. We phoned the sykes number, no joy. Only way we stopped alarm was to turn off all power then turn it back on. So the owners number would be extremely useful. Apart from that minor thing, we would highly recommend this house & would use again.

Thank you for such helpful feedback, we always thrive to learn from our lovely customers experience. Please be assured that we now have processes in place in order to quickly sort out any noise/ alarm issues (Sykes are rightly, always the first point of contact in these cases). It is listed as a double bed but it is actually a futon and the most uncomfortable thing we have ever slept on. It was covered with a bed topper but this did not help. We did not want to give up on the holiday as we were with another couple so went and purchased a memory foam bed topper . The new bed topper was doubled over with the double quilt and single quilt on top and it was still terrible. The rest of the house was good, accept as the other reviews, still no instructions for TV's, recycling, etc. A new proper bed and some instructions for tv's etc would make this house a 5 star.

Thank you so much for your valued feedback, we really do appreciate it and more importantly, we strive to learn from it - Because of this issue we will be replacing the bed in the second bedroom within the next 48 hours, so that all future guests, including yourselves, can enjoy the comforts of a comfortable double bed on your next visit. Although detailed instructions are provided in the e-book that Sykes send you digitally, we can appreciate the increasing demand for a simpler TV system with less remote controls - We will therefore be replacing with an extremely simple FreeView system within the next 48 hours also. I hope we have resolved your issues and we really do hope you visit our home again soon, to enjoy it's improvements. Property Owner

  • "The house was definitely comfortable enough, although I found the pull out double a little uncomfortable and no hanging space in the second double was a tad annoying."

There was a small poo in the upstairs bathroom when we arrived. We came in the side door on arrival, dashing out for dinner as traffic had been terrible and we were late. It was only upon checking doors before bed that I discovered the front door was left unlocked-not only with all the house contents available to anyone and everyone but my laptop and other belongings-not acceptable to be honest! As others have said-it would be handy to have some tv instructions (for the benefit of others-turn all 3 remotes on and go to home button on the small one-scroll right to the tv logo for iplayer/itv hub/4 and 5 which you can watch live-you will have to sign in to your own Netflix account) and also some heating instructions. My 84 year old mother was cold, so I managed to change the boiler to heat and water and work out how to put the thermostat on manual but the only radiator working upstairs was the bathroom one-not great in the winter. It would have been good to know if I was operating the system correctly. There are not enough saucepans to cook a proper meal so bring your own if you are thinking of doing so (just one small, one medium pan in the cupboard). The chopping board had old food on it. Dining chair covers had not been washed and were quite dirty. This all sounds quite damning, but it IS actually a nice house in a great spot for exploring-just needs a little extra input from the owner (who I'm told lives abroad so that might be why the complaint about instructions for things hadn't been actioned).

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback, it is really appreciated. We are working with the cleaning team to address the issues you reported. And will improve /provide the instructions and guides to make it easier. Hopefully we look forward to seeing you in the future. Property Owner

If we were being critical there were a couple of minor issues. The grass had not been cut, there was some dog mess on the gravel in the back garden and the downstairs toilet could have been cleaner. The garden furniture just consisted of a small table and 2 chairs. That was fine for us as only 2 adults, but wouldn’t be enough for 5 which the house caters for.
