"This was our second visit to the property this year and hopefully we will return again."
The house, which is beautifully furnished, is set in picturesque gardens that include a large stream. It is so quiet and peaceful but also just a short drive to the beach and the town of Cardigan so for us it was perfect

"A lovely cottage in a quiet village."
We were not expecting such an amazing setting, nestled in it’s own woodland valley, with such an extensive garden and beautiful stream. It was so lovely sitting out in the garden enjoying the sun, birds and the babbling water. The cottage was very well equipped, well laid out and had all of the necessary facilities.

"Be prepared for an unauthorised payment for accidental damage upon your departure even if you have not caused it!"
We just finished our holiday on 28 March and then received a phone call from Sykes Cottage on 29 March informing us of damages at our stay cottage. There were two dents in the wall and one burnt oven glove. We informed them that the damages were there upon our arrival, we had noticed them as we entered the property, but were told the owner of the property had taken photos of the damages upon our departure. We challenged to see the evidence that proves the damages were NOT there upon our arrival, but neither Sykes Cottage or the owner have provide it. As of this writing they have not provided any evidence, however the burden of proof is with them. Regardless of our response to Sykes Cottage on 29 March, stating that we had noticed the damage upon arrival, we still had an unauthorised transaction of £80 taken from our bank account on 1 April to effect repairs for the damage. We rang Sykes Cottage but was told that “Sykes Cottage has no control over claims if the property owner instructs them to take out payment from the ‘Good Housekeeping bond’”. Therefore Sykes Cottage had to deduct the payment from our account and advised us that “if you disagree with this resolution then please seek third party advice!” This implies that the customer is liable for any damage without need of proof and means that it is open cheque book season. We have contacted our bank to dispute this matter hoping for a fairer and more robust due diligence to be conducted over this matter. As a holiday maker, the last thing we wanted was an unjustified legal battle to deal with resulting in spoiling our holiday experience. Needless to say we will not be returning and looking into the finer legal position that the customer will find themselves in. We will not use again.

"This was our second stay in this cottage."
Loved it the first time and just as good the second. My only negative, like i commented on our 1st stay, was for me ( a tall person with back problems) the mattresses are too lumpy and my sleep suffered because of it, but my wife had no such issue with the bed as to our son who stayed a few days. This is a great cottage, one of the best we have stayed in, and would look to book again (better mattresses please).

"TV wouldn’t work when we arrived on the Saturday."
Phone Sykes support on Sunday who advised someone would visit on Monday to look at it. My husband spent a long time on Sunday night sorting the issue out. Electric hob had no instructions on how to use it. It was a touch button hob and required guidance on what symbols meant and how to trouble shoot issues. Gave up with it in the end! Dishwasher had no rinse aid or salt!

"Just maybe mention the cottage is still in town."
As per photos you think that it is on a farm or outside town. But being a stand-alone property the peace and quiet was great. And the sound of the running stream was heaven. The fireplace was amazing. We could snuggle up in the evenings with a glass of red wine and enjoy the flames. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. Spacious rooms and comfortable mattress. Lovely modern bathroom. We give this property a good thumbs up!

"We have stayed in several cottages around Cardigan over the years and this was has to be the best."
Old blacksmith shop that has been well converted into a modern holiday cottage. Lovely dining room/kitchen area with log burner that had me wanting to book the cottage in the winter so i could fire it up. Great bathroom with walk-in power shower. Our dog loved the spacious garden which was well fenced, only problem was the stream running through the garden which she liked to stand in !!. The only negative is I found the matress in the double bed soft and lumpy but this will not stop me booking this cottage again.

"Idyllic cottage which was well-equipped with everything we needed."
It was lovely to arrive to see a fresh loaf, butter and marmalade waiting for us and great to have everything we needed to make a hot drink. We loved the garden, and the woods and stream were fabulous - so much wildlife spotted from the garden! Inside, the cottage was lovely with lots of personal touches. The range of books and games were very much appreciated too. Perfect location in a beautiful area with lots of walks from the cottage and nearby. Hope to book here again soon!
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. Glyn Yr Efail is very special to me and I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Several people have mentioned the wildlife in the garden, so I am thinking of starting a book for people to record their sightings in. It would be lovely to know who lives out there! "This is an idyllic cottage in a beautiful and quiet location."
It was cleaned to a high standard. The only hiccups were a slight problem operating the shower, and a lack of instructions concerning re cycling, but these were only minor things. For anyone who enjoys walking and wants some relaxing time away this is the perfect place

"A very clean well converted property retaining many original features."
Tasteful décor throughout and plenty of crockery, glasses etc. The outside space was great for dogs and humans. Quiet location despite being next to a road.
Hello, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at Glyn Yr Efail. My dogs love the garden as well. There is lots to explore. Thank you for taking the trouble to write such a kind review. A lot of TLC has gone into the cottage, so it's great to hear that guests, human and canine, are enjoying it. Best Wishes, Jenny (Owner) Property Owner

"Excellent property, beautiful setting lovely gardens ."
Everything clean tidy and a very welcome feel to the cottage. Would recommend to anyone thinking of booking this cottage. Don’t let this take anything anyway from the property , on a personal note it was only a small double bed, this day and age I think a king size would be better and it would fit in the main bedroom , but please don’t let that distract you it’s just my personal choice. "Lovely comfortable cottage, great location and a fantastic garden which both our dogs."
.Nigel and Max thoroughly enjoyed. Great power shower. Well appreciated food supplies and balls for our dogs. Beautiful beaches, especially Aberporth and Newport. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked again for next year.
Dear Marcia Thank you very much indeed for your feedback which is much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the cottage, a lot of TLC has gone into getting it up to scratch. When I bought it in 2018 it had not been lived in for 10 years. I'm so glad that your dogs enjoyed themselves too. Our two love it there as well. The beaches are stunning and perfect for dogs to run on. I saw that you had rebooked and am delighted that you will be returning. You will be very welcome. With Kind Regards Jenny (owner) Property Owner

"Cottage lovely and very comfortable Beautiful spot All good apart from not ..."
Cottage lovely and very comfortable Beautiful spot All good apart from not being able to work the hob even after reading the booklet(probably our fault) Also the heating was a bit hit and miss in that some rads worked and some didn't on different days Upset that not even milk was in the fridge But loved the cottage If there had been a pub in the village it would have been perfect

"Lovely cottage and grounds."
On arrival, noticed the dog water bowl outside the back door although full had a dense layer of green slime on the bottom of the bowl. Dishwasher flagged up as 'low salt' on first use. Both vacuum cleaner's containers dense with dog hairs, dust etc which had to be dug out, they were so densely packed. All cleaning material containers approx 10% full. Wheelie bins full. Requested bin liners for kitchen bin, wheelie bin liners delivered. So, some housekeeping improvements needed, however, all the big issues re the cottage, fittings and grounds deserve top marks.

"Very comfortable and well furnished cottage."
Very clean and very comfortable beds.

"A very enjoyable stay and a great location with fantastic walks close to the property."
-
"Beautiful cottage in idyllic woodland garden setting."
Very comfortable and well equipped with everything that you need for a relaxed holiday. A great base for exploring and would highly recommend.

"Fantastic cottage, supurb location."
Walks nearby are fab. So many places to visit.

"We had a wonderful time."
Very clean cottage on arrival. It had everything we needed other that spare bin bags and an airer to dry clothes. Lovely quiet comfy beds! The garden is a dream with the lovely stream and wooded path. An ideal location, excellent for a morning stroll to the cove for a swim. We definitely will be returning.
-
"What an amazing property, it oozes Pembrokeshire charm and you can see the love that has been poured into it."
The location is tranquil and so convenient for either local amenities or a relaxing retreat. I almost don’t want to tell anyone how wonderful it is in order to guarantee I can return! Thank you for sharing your your holiday home with us.

"Property and garden are stunning as is the location, set in a small village it’s so quite and peaceful."
The accommodation was let down a little by a series of small snags, the main bed joints are noisy so you keep getting woken up, we used the single beds which are not ideal, also we had a few little things that should of been picked up by the people turning over the property such as dirt glasses and baking trays, dirty oven etc. None of the issues were major but the added up. We had an amazing stay and would happily book again if the double bed is fixed. Matthew
Thank you for your comments. Just to let you know that following your feedback I went to the cottage at the weekend and I agree that the bed joints have become noisy. I have therefore ordered a new kingsize bed for that room. I do hope that you will return and enjoy it. An oven cleaner is being booked and the other matters are noted. Property Owner

"Really enjoyed the property."
Everything was really well planned out. Great for the dog too. Liked the garden. We did sit outside for a quick drink on Sunday afternoon, but I am sure in the summer it would be absolutely gorgeous.
-
"We had a lovely stay at the cottage, there was honestly everything you’d ever need there (I didn’t need to have packed the blender for baby food!"
). It was lovely to sit in front of the fire on an evening, and look around the beaches and cardigan in the day. We will defiantly be back when we can visit skomer island one spring / summer. Thank you for a lovely break.
-
"An absolutely lovely place to relax."
The living area is beautifully laid out, and kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom is lovely, and the shower has incredible water pressure. My only criticism would be of the bedroom furniture. The room with the double bed felt a little sparse, and there was not adequate storage for clothing. Regardless, we would happily stay here again.

"We had a beautiful stay!"
We will definitely be back. Cottage very clean, modern and toasty warm. Lots of great walks around the coast line.

"Amazing cottage"

"A fantastic base to explore a lovely part of Wales cottage feels like a home and garden was amazing"
-
"Fabulous property, well equipped and very comfortable."
A great location, a short walk to your own beach cove (where we saw a seal) and stunning cliff top walks. The garden was incredible. Newport Sands and Poppit Sands and Cardigan were a 15 minute drive away. We did look to book for next year but the price has increased by £500 which we find disappointing.
-
"This cottage was a little gem."
Newly refurbished it had everything we needed. Modern but it still had a homely feel. We loved the woodland walk along the stream. Plenty of walks from the cottage though very steep approaches from all directions for anyone with limited mobility.
-
"This is a very nice property in a wonderful location."
Fantastic garden alongside a flowing stream. Moylgrove is very picturesque, the area has fabulous clean beaches, recommend Poppit Sands, especially if you have a dog. Not sure if I missed this in the property description but there is virtually no mobile phone signal. WiFi a bit weak unless you are close to the router. These things didn't matter as the weather during our week was brilliant. The other thing to be aware of is the approach roads into the village are narrow. A few places we would recommend; Ceibwr bay, 500 metres away, walking distance. A Garden centre with a cafe very close by and Pizzatipi restaurant in Cardigan.
-
"Wonderful cottage in a beautiful village."
The garden with stream is simply idyllic. I would very much recommend it as a base to explore the west Pembrokeshire coast and Preseli hills.
-
"Beautiful cottage in the most amazing setting."
-
"The cottage was immaculately presented on arrival which made us feel relaxed from the start."
The food welcome pack was a nice gesture greatly appreciated. The extended garden/woodland was an added bonus and the trickling sound from the nearby brook made up what was an ideal location. Visiting in May allowed us to witness first hand the best that the wild / bird life has to offer. Ceibwr Bay about a mile from the cottage was stunning (which we visited several times) and the coastal walks north and south of this point were equally as good showing up spectacular cliff folds. A heaven for photographers. Many thanks to the local management company for promptly sorting out an issue with the hot water. Will certainly revisit again in the future, out of season of course.
