We would have liked to have the grass cut before arrival, also a shaver point and hair dryer would have been ok.

We had a wonderful week in Ballater, it’s such a beautiful little town (highly recommend the Balmoral Bar for food and drink especially if you have a dog!

) The cottage was spotless and comfortable, I don’t understand the reviews saying the beds are uncomfortable as didn’t find this at all! The only reason I’ve given 4 stars not 5 is that the kitchen lacked some items which we needed such as a tray (we used a baking tray) a measuring jug, any kind of large microwaveable bowl (it’s how I make my porridge!) These are just niggles, overall it’s a lovely cottage and we had a great week!

Lovely cottage from start to finish.

Excellent location for access to the town, very central, only about 2 mins. walk. All facilities needed were provided. Nicely decorated and comfortable. Felt very much like home from home.A bonus being able to bring our dog too. Town Lovely with plenty to do. Would highly recommend cottage and location to others.

Had everything we needed and loved the fact the kitchen had everything. Only criticism were the beds were not comfortable so i didn’t sleep all week and the lighting needs to be brighter.

We stayed at Westwood for 7 nights and it was lovely.

Would recommend to family and friends, the location is ideal and the property is well equipped. So much to do, we did travel a couple of days for the mountain walks and a coastal at Stonehaven - there are walks on your doorstep with some beautiful scenery. We managed to complete 3 of the of the walks from the property and they didn’t disappoint. We were lucky with the weather, sun all week which is always a bonus. Very enjoyable week !!!

The weather was outstanding and Ballater loved glorious in the sunshine with all the flowers and hanging baskets in full bloom … a lovely week yet again , probably be back next year ….

What a stunning cottage, in a great location and we were very fortunate to have stunning weather all week.

One question we would have or would recommend is a BBQ. We had weather most days over 25 degrees and would loved to have had a BBQ, and unfortunately the Coop was sold out of disposable ones most days.

Lovely stay at Westwood over the Easter break.

Cottage was perfect for our family of 4 (and dog) and had everything we needed. Westwood is perfectly positioned in Ballater and we had a great week cycling and hiking in the area. We will definitely be back!

plenty great walks with the dog. Managed to get up lochnagar this year. Accommodation great ,open plan kitchen/living room and everything needed to cook.very quiet and peaceful. Good enclosed garden for the dog.

The high standard of cleanliness and comfort, the cottage location, and ease of access, all provide the opportunity for a fantastic holiday. There are such great walks in and around the village - would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful week staying at Westwood.

Myself, partner, my 2 adult sons, and our dog. The property is so well thought out. It has everything you could need, and all of the very best quality. It is pristine in cleanliness. Set in a quiet street within walking distance of Ballater itself. The owner had to call with a little problem we had ,she couldn't have been more helpful. It has been 10 years since I last visited Ballater. I hope it won't be too long before I return having found this perfect property.

! What a lovely cottage in an amazing location. Very very comfy , lovely and warm. Get hot shower. Kitchen was super and well equipped. Great dog friendly garden... plus dog friendly pubs. Lovely walks on the door step. Brilliant time.

Westwood Cottage is close to the centre of Ballater, everything was in reach.

Not far from the River Dee. Warm cottage, spacious and warm(weather outside was quite cold at the time) comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen etc. A relaxing place to have a break. So much to see in the area too. A quiet spot with many other dog walkers to chat with too.

cottage had everything we needed 2 minutes away from shops and pubs.

The cottage was very comfortable and within easy reach of shops and cafes.

We had some initial issues with the WiFi which the owner sorted out for us, which we appreciated.

Very well situated near centre of lovely Ballater, yet very quiet. Great to have off road parking. Everything was perfect for us. We've already booked to come again next year.

The property was great for our holiday.

It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed - warm too when required. Westwood is in an ideal situation being right on the main street with dog friendly cafes and other stores, and also close to lovely walks. Would definitely recommend.

Really lovely holiday cottage - it's probably better suited to 2 adults and 2 children, than 4 adults but nonetheless we enjoyed our time in Ballater and at Westwood.

The kitchen is lovely and well equipped. The bathroom was super clean. I would have expected handsoap to be provided though. Provision of a clothes airer would have been useful but we managed as the weather was, on the whole, sunny! Probably worth noting that the garden, whilst secure, has a right of passage across it for the neighbouring property. Ballater is a great location and this property is definitely the best we've stayed in during our times visiting Ballater!

Premises and facilities were perfect, allowing central access to a wonderful area, local shops and dog friendly restaurants.

Plus the added advantage of being in a central location for visiting family in Elgin, Peterhead and Edinburgh. Thank you for the opportunity to use your premises.

Great stay, cottage was perfect couldn't fault it.

Unfortunately, because of family illness, we were unable to travel !

!! However, even though we were unable to benefit from our paid for holiday we would thoroughly recommend Ballater as a destination at any time of the year. Also, the specific location is excellent to base oneself from. We have lots of family in the village and around and about; we hope to be able to save enough money to book again and travel up from Essex in the future.

This was our second visit to this beautiful cottage, complete with everything one could possibly need.

We enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We particularly love the location, close to little independent shops & cafes, and an abundance of trail walks for the 'stroller' or the keen hiker. Lochnagar has an attraction all of its own, and The Cairn walk circumnavigating Balmoral forest is a must. We highly recommend this delightful holiday home in stunning Ballater.

Overall this is a lovely, centrally located property.

In my opinion it could do with a few home comforts such as cushions and pictures around the property. Very clean and functional.

maybe a small radio and hooks next to back door for when it's wet, that would save trailing from front door with wet dog, that way leash and dog towel could be hung in kitchen. Apart from that everything else was excellent.

Again a good holiday that’s why we chose this cottage for our break, in a lovely location next to cafes and beautiful scenery for walking our dog.

That was our third year and so far managed to pick another glorious week weather wise. We’ve been going to Ballater for over thirty years and so far this is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in.

Second time here and it was better as you had added the garden furniture and more utilities in the kitchen. Our only “nice to have” would be a BBQ. It’s a real pain when someone parks opposite the entrance though, makes it almost impossible to get in or out :( We will be back. Loved it.

This cottage is very much a home from home - just what we needed for having a relaxing break.

We have explored the area quite a bit and being able to come back to the cottage and enjoy a relaxed evening was just what was needed at the end of our days trekking. The timed heating and hot water were very welcome eliminating the need to 'remember' to turn these on ready for when it was needed. The cottage is ideally placed for getting to the many places of interest in the area easily by car and we enjoyed putting out walking shoes on to explore the walking routes from Ballater. Thank you for providing a lovely place to stay Jacqueline, we would certainly stay with you again when in the area.

Thank you for your hospitality, our stay was amazing, it was a warm comfortable stay.

After lots of days out and about the beautiful surrounding area it was great knowing we were coming back to a relaxed quiet home with all the facilities we needed. We appreciated the information leaflets for trails, which we took advantage of. We also enjoyed dining out, takeaways and using the kitchen with all the equipment we needed. The amenities were described accurately with some extra nice touches. My dog loved all the walks and the secure garden. Check in and out was simple, secure and the whole experience was fantastic. It was affordable for me, but does fluctuate at certain times of year, so if the price is right I have no doubt I will return.

We had such a lovely stay at this little cottage, the photos really don’t do it justice.

A lovely warm little house in a superb location, the kitchen was well stocked with the little things that you always forget to take like cling film. Lots of walking on the door step, would really recommend a walk round Lock Muick too. Some reviews say that the parking is difficult but we didn’t struggle and our cars massive, just pull past and reverse on to the drive. Only thing missing was some outside furniture but admittedly we had unseasonably warm weather for March so there may be some in the warmer months!

We love Ballater anyway & have stayed many times.

We have stayed twice at this property as it provides everything thing you need. In the summer it was great for sitting outside & in winter it's warm and welcoming. Hopefully we'll be back next year, if it's not already booked up.

Great cottage.

Facilities excellent . Car parking a bit tricky with bike rack on car and very difficult to get in or out if car parked on roadside opposite. Would be a case for double yellow lines on road opposite. Neighbours friendly. Would definitely go again.

This cottage was absolutely pristine.

It was so clean and the decor was just so lovely. Everything was so good. Just had to ask a couple of times for people not to park opposite please which would have made it impossible for us to get out in our car or get back in.

Fresh and new inside, beautiful view from the front. Short walk to everything you need in Ballater and a minute from the river. We absolutely loved it!

The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable, also very warm.

It is a bit neat reversing into the driveway but manageable. Ballater itself is a good place to visit with a variety of shops. There are plenty of walks to go on and the mountains aren’t too far away. We plan a return visit.

Nice house, well equipped, close to the center of Ballater.

If I could I would score it a steady 3.5. Need to be good at parking to get in and out and there is a possibility you could get trapped in! Also, not very private, across the way can see straight into the main bedroom and access at the back is shared. A few minor issues need looking, squeaky bathroom door needs oiling, bath plug-in needs unblocking.

Highly recommended - A gem of a place in a quiet street but very central location - way more spacious than I thought and very comfortable.

The shops and so many walks and hikes are on your doorstep. Westwood was great - every little thing thought of from board games to DVDs to more than fully equipped kitchen (all the little things you forget to take like cling film!) The poly pocket maps of walks were much appreciated. Ballater itself is so picturesque and plenty of gift shops, eateries and good sized Co-Op. Staff in tourist information very helpful too.

The facilities were all there, the downstairs space & sun soaked garden made our stay very relaxing. Of course the surrounding area has some of the best scenery in the world.

We have been going to Ballater for 25 yrs and couldn’t get our usual accommodation so we were a bit wary if we could get anything that we would like, we were absolutely delighted to stay in this cottage as it had everything we needed.

First class, after the disappointment of having to cancel last year. We will definitely be back.

The cottage was lovely, well equipped and in nice quiet surroundings.

We went with the purpose of munro bagging of which there were plenty within 30 minutes drive.

House was fab, great location, well equipped and spotlessly clean.

We enjoyed a midweek break at Westwood which is perfectly situated in the heart of this friendly little town.

Beautiful walks from the door with coffee shops and restaurants literally just around the corner. A very well appointed cottage with the best kitchen we have come across with all the dishes, utensals and modern appliance you could ever need. The living space is very usable with lots good downstairs space, excellent tv & wifi, a modern bathroom and that all important comfortable bed! We slept soundly and really relaxed here. There is ample parking on the driveway and so many dog friendly places close by, we loved our stay and will definitely return.

Ballater is an attractive small town, an ideal base for touring, lots of small individual shops, restaurants and the beautiful Old Royal Station.

The location of the cottage is ideal, it is quiet but you can walk everywhere in town within 10 minutes. The quality of the cottage, and particularly the way it is equipped, far exceeded our expectations. We were extremely comfortable and would highly recommended it.

A very pleasant cottage , spotlessly clean, uncluttered and surprisingly spacious with good facilities.

Ballater is a lovely village with many walks from the front door of the cottage. The area around Ballater is beautiful with a short drive to Balmoral Castle, the Linn of Dee is a must for anyone who likes the great outdoors.

First class accomadation, very well equipped with good space located in a central village location, highly recommended, will return.

This property is delightful, sometimes you go away to then get away and normally you only really want to sleep in the rental.

I have to say this place was a joy to come back to and one you looked forward to. Ballater is a beautiful quiet town with some lovely walks. A bit tucked away but a place one should not miss. If we go back here then I will request this property as it was more than what the pictures show.

A perfect holiday home in a wonderful location!

Westwood has everything you may need to make your stay most comfortable. It was immaculately clean & obvious from the quality fittings, the recent renovation is of the highest standard. The enclosed garden was a bonus & perfect for dog owners. We loved the downstairs open plan which wasn’t clear from the listing, but a definite plus. Ballater and the entire area is breathtaking. It’s easy to see why the Royals make this their Scotland home. Forest trails are plentiful near by and the town is full of cafes, tasteful quaint gift shops and a royal approved baker & butcher. Would absolutely recommend & can’t wait to go back!!

A lovely, comfortable holiday cottage.

All home comforts included plus extras. Nice to have tea, milk and biscuits when we got there, and all the little things like kids bowls cups made the holiday very easy! Thanks for a great week.
