"Nice traditional cottage, very clean internally and well equipped."
A little tired in terms of decor, but part of an old cottage (curtains need fixing). Our main feedback is that the windows were filthy making a dark cottage even darker, and the garden really needed a good tidy up and pruning to make enjoyable to sit in. We cleared the litter from the front garden as didn’t want to walk past it every time we came in and out!

"We had had the most wonderful stay at Lavender Cottage!"
Fantastic location being situated on the high street and moments from the beach, restaurants, shops and pubs! (There is also a children’s playground 15 mins walk away). We appreciated the period features of the cottage and it felt both spacious and homely. Amenity wise it has everything you could possibly need with a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher, high chair etc. It has a good sized garden too with table and chairs prefect for when the children are in bed. We will be coming back! Don’t worry about bringing books or board games as they have plenty!

"The cottage is lovely and very relaxing."
Very quiet, peaceful, close to the beach and all the town’s shops and amenities. A perfect location and a delightful cottage. A couple of lightbulbs needed replacing and the extractor didn’t work in the bathroom but I’m sure they are aware of it.

"A lovely cottage, great location, nice space in the garden and useful furniture, when not out, we spent a lot of time there."
Dog friendly, just no grass for them to use. Two things let it down a little, the dish washer not working, we had to wash some items before use. How clean the venue was, not terrible just not as clean as we would have expected.

"The property was in an excellent location enabling easy access to shops and beach."
The charming character of the property was let down by the shabby appearance of the garden. It stated in the booklet (at the property) that the house has a gardener, however this was not evident from the display of weeds and general neglect. Care and attention would make this charming property much better. It could do will an exterior paint and clean as well as maintance on the garden. The fan in the bathroom does not work as well as some of the lighting in the kitchen.
Lavender cottage has so much to offer and feels very cosy. At the moment it feels tired and unloved which was disappointing and could be easily be solved.

"My only negative was that two toilet rolls was not enough!"
We were in a town we didn’t know and ran out when no shops were not open which was distressing. I do imagine a rental to provide something which is such a necessity.
Whoever it was that took my call and rescued my bag which I stupidly left behind was lovely and helpful so top marks for being lovely humans!

"We had a super stay and the cottsge is lovely and great location."
Sadly the garden needs some TLC. Lots of weeds and very untidy. When it's nice weather garden is nice place to sit and relax. Sykes cottages appear to always have gardens that are unkempt. 3rd time booking via Sykes and garden always a let down. Need to ensure gardens are better for your guests please.

"Lovely cottage in a great position close to shops and restaurants for a slightly out of season visit."
The cottage was characterful and had a warmth and charm. Whilst the inside was well equipped, clean and cosy it is a little let down by the outside which could be benefit was a little TLC.. a clean of windows and maintenance of drains.

"We had a splendid stay over Christmas."
Very comfortable and warm, so much so that we only used the fireplace once (and I had worried about getting enough wood - the Co -op does stock bags). Very well situated and cozier than the photographs suggest. Only a short walk to the beach to admire the sea or to the pub to admire the beer. Would recommend and consider going again. Many thanks to the caretakers.

"Lavender Cottage is a beautiful old building."
The sitting room has lots of room for four people and the house is in a great location. The bedrooms are bright and spacious.
As you would expect from a 17c building, it is quirky and you have to expect things like the internal doors not shutting and getting used to ducking your head to avoid the low beams.
The kitchen is very well equipped and the bed linen and bath towels were crisp and clean.
Sadly though this property was very let down by;
* the garden which was a big disappointment as it clearly has not been cared for at all. The shrubs in the pots at the end of the garden were dead. The plants were all very over grown particularly a every vicious old rose bush, the beautiful apple tree is so low and over grown that you have to stoop to walk up the garden. To the left of the back door was a pile of discarded and dirty carpet. For want of a days hard work this could all be improved and would make a huge difference to the quality and enjoyment of staying there.
* the house is in need of a deep clean, the windows most particularly which had dirt, cobwebs etc between the external windows and double glazing in the sitting room.
* the bathroom had received a good “between tenants” clean but again it needs a deal clean in all of the floors corners etc.

"3 night stay in Lavender Cottage over New Year 2022."
We expected the interiors to be quite basic and they were...partly in keeping with the 'higgledy-piggledy' nature of the 16th Century cottage, but it did feel pretty sparse and not very 'loved'. The highlight of the whole house was the stove/fireplace which gave a lovely centre to the living space and was why we chose the cottage over another similarly priced one in the town.
