  • "Very pleased with the cleanliness and happy to finally have more crockery and a new mattress this time."

As others have mentioned in reviews, the mattress is very firm. We were uncomfortable with back and hip ache. It would definitely benefit from a topper, then each visitor could choose a firmer or softer option according to preference.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location As has been mentioned before the mattress is very hard ."

The fridge is in need of defrosting also unfortunately we were informed on our journey to Suffolk that the dish washer wasn't working , all minor points I know but may be important to to other guests. Overall the cottage is comfortable other than these points the cottage is cosy , well presented and in a great location for a lovely dog friendly holiday.

  • "E had a very pleasant stay here overall."

The cottage is very well appointed and just right for a short vacation. A good location for all of Aldeburgh. Great shower and bath, very comfortable living room with the 2 sofas, had no problem with the TV and Freesat unlike some but I'm very well versed in the techie stuff lol. Didn't have need for the kitchen facilities apart from the kettle and coffee maker so can't really comment but seemed perfect. A few niggles - the mattress is very firm and uncomfortable for me (personal), the mains water makes a very loud noise in the ceiling above the bedroom when the toilet is flushed, the boiler fan seemed to be running full time (which backs onto the head of the bed), exit from the bathroom is almost immediately onto the steep stairs (could be a worry if unsteady on your feet!), there is a constant, slight smell of sewage on the upper floor and the traffic noise can be intrusive. I can imagine it would get very hot in the cottage, even with the windows open, during hot weather. That said, we had a good stay, thank you.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Perfect for 2 people and had everything we needed. The ant traps were a shock to walk into but to be fair, we saw no ants at all during our stay however we barely used the kitchen. When we did use some of the cutlery/glasses etc, they were not 100% clean so we washed them again ourselves. The steep stairs were no bother for us but I can see how they might be for some. The bed was comfortable but it was stiflingly hot in the bedroom at night despite keeping the window wide open!! The sitting room was lovely and the dining table was useful on the rare occasion we had a snack. Some flowers /plants at the front might improve the view as some other houses have done but obviously not essential!! The wine/crisps and biscuits were appreciated. Thank you.

  • "This was our sixth visit to Tiger Villa and the cottage as well as Aldeburgh is one of our favourite places to spend time in."

Tiger Villa is so well placed being so close to the High Street and country walks for our dog. The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable so a real home from home. We’ve already booked again for 2025!!

  • "We were very impressed with this charming little character cottage."

Lovely features including a very cosy lounge and bathroom featuring a great shower & roll top bath. Banged my head a few times on the low door frames but no serious injuries. The welcome pack including a nice bottle of Merlot was a lovely touch too

  • "Our second stay at this lovely cottage."

Everything we needed. Lots of character and nice sized rooms. Warm at night but not too hot in the day. Reasonably priced and available for 5 night break which suited us. We will be back. Love Aldeburgh out of season. Quite a few comments mention lack of kitchen equipment but the cottage is only for two!

  • "Perfect little cottage for a short break."

We love that the cottage is dog friendly but pristine, has a wood burner, bath and a decent dishwasher. We've stayed several times and will keep coming back

  • "We really like the cottage and have stayed a few times before but sadly it's looking unlikely we'll return in future."

Kitchen equipment was frustratingly basic, especially needed more plates. Worst part was the uncomfortable, worn out, very stained mattress! We had to strip the bed and turn the mattress, which only improved things slightly, as we didn't sleep well at all.

Thank you for your feedback, we will check into the points you helpfully raise. Property Owner

  • "Aldeburgh is a lovely walking holiday location and the cottage had a careful, authentic restoration about ten years ago."

We have stayed many times because we like visiting period houses and the location is excellent. We have felt on the last two visits that some things need attention (lack of crockery, radiator valve, lighting etc), but as yet not rectified. We inadvertently left a knife in the kitchen and were disappointed that this was not kept for return. The new Sykes website is clunky and made communications with the BoS team difficult.

  • "We had a wonderful week in Aldeburgh."

Tiger cottage was very comfortable and just right for a couple. The welcome pack was heart warming. There was plenty of hot water and the central heating came on automatically when temperatures were low. The towels and linen were especially luxurious. The very steep stairs should be noted in the information as they could be difficult to manage (especially with luggage). An additional handrail at the top for safety? There were no instructions for the dishwasher, despite the welcome information saying it was in the cupboard, so we could not use it. There was an absolute minimum of crockery, cutlery and glasses. We could not have invited friends for a meal. In the bathroom the mirror light was not working. The lavatory seat was loose. Thanks.

  • "Disappointed After several holiday cottages booked through Sykes this is the first one that has disappointed me."

Although overall it was clean I felt it needed a deep clean everything seemed a bit greasy. I always bring throws for the settees but the chair arms felt dirty There were no personal touches to make it feel cared for. Although the photos didn’t show a garden, the symbol noted a garden. Sadly that belonged to the other half of the cottage I hadn’t realised there was no back to Tiger Villa, that belonged to Hidden Cottage. Having a dog and no garden is not ideal The bins were shared between both cottages We were advised to leave rubbish bagged for the caretaker to dispose of!! Where were we supposed to leave it in a tiny kitchen, or outside for the seagulls to rip apart? No thank you We didn’t like to disturb next door as they had two dogs so we took it to the recycling centre at the top of the road Would I return to Tiger Cottage. No The welcome pack of crisps and wine were appreciated thank you

  • "Very convenient central location in this lovely seaside town."

The sofas and the bed were extremely comfortable and there was plenty of instantaneous hot water for the shower and in the kitchen. There were a few niggles - the dishwasher refused to work despite lighting up, no cleaning materials, limited bathroom consumables eg half a toilet roll, and the front door was difficult to lock and unlock. inevitably perhaps the floorboards were very creaky and the stairs were steep so not one for the physically less able.

Property was fine, nice and cosy, however due to the very poor eating facility's in the village there was no storage space to actually keep any food other than that the cottage was fine but completely over shadowed by the lack of facilities and prices in the village, very disappointing overall

  • "We found the property disappointing given we are frequent holiday makers to the area."

The courtyard promised for our pet is in fact the walkway to the front door which is cobbled and right on the pathway There is no access to the back of the property. The stairs are very steep this is not noted. The house is well equipped albeit no pizza cutter. Its fair cleanliness but not fantastic for the cost wise but some blackout for the bedroom window would be appreciated for thin materisl curtains and maybe some clean mirrors be good. You should make it clear the Outside area is the walkway at the front of the property as no pet will use this. Im sure it will appeal to a few. We wont recommend.

  • "A good location close enough to the beach and the facilities and the cottage is comfortable, well appointed and fine for two people."

Be wary of the steep stairs though. Personally I'm wasn't a fan of the floorboards - they are a bit uneven upstairs - but I suppose that adds to the authenticity of the cottage. There were a couple of maintenance issues that should have been identified and dealt with a while ago but I expect they will have been sorted out by now. But generally a nice cottage at the quiet end of Aldeburgh.

  • "Tiger Villa is a lovely place to stay, warm and comfortable."

Wi-if/internet connection was excellent, always a bonus. Parking was really easy, right outside the property (might be a bit different at peak times). There were just a few minor points: I struggled a bit with the stairs, very steep and with a bend towards the top, and it would have been helpful if this was mentioned in the property details. There were 3 remote controls for TV/satellite and it took quite a bit of trial and error to work out how to get iPlayer/Netflix etc. Similarly with the central heating control so some instructions for using these would be helpful. I couldn’t find instruction manuals for any of the appliances - again these would be helpful for things like dishwasher. I would definitely book again.
