  • "This is a well situated property, within an easy drive of the National Trust property at Petworth, located in a quiet village with 2 pubs (closed on Mondays and maybe Tuesday) together with a small shop."

The pubs in nearby Wisborough Green were open every day and served food. With a few relatively small adjustments it could be a 5 star property although at present it is only suitable for breakfast catering due to the poorly equipped kitchen. The visitor will also require a good data plan for their mobile since currently there is no wifi or broadband Internet access. Arrival and parking were easy as was unloading since the parking is adjacent to the ground floor property. The photos were accurate but we had missed the fact that there was no table or chairs for eating which had to be done sitting on the sofa. The property consists of the front living room accessed via the front door and a front/side bedroom accessed through a small corridor. Behind the living room and bedroom there is a bathroom and kitchen. Hopefully the owner will be able to rapidly rectify the problems we found which we list here. Unfortunately the outside furniture was not present to allow use of the patio on the only outside space in the front garden. Whilst there is a smart TV currently there is only terrestrial television via a small table top aerial. The reception for terrestrial television was very variable - from only 2 channels (BBC 1 & 2) on some days to more on other days but the picture and sound would often break up. The TV remote was not working because of flat and leaking batteries which had not been replaced. The prior cleaning was poor with hairs on some of linen. There was milk in fridge but there was no information folder or instructions for the cooker and washing machine that we could find. The owners phone number was provided but no local information. There was only a hand brush and pan available for cleaning the floor. There was no top bed sheet and we were expected to sleep between 2 duvets during a heat wave. Despite the availability of a washing machine which would have been useful there was no way of drying wet clothes inside or outside of he property. There were no rubbish or recycling bins in the property – they seemed to be located behind a difficult to remove fence at the side of the property. The texted instructions following our enquiry was to leave the rubbish and recycling in plastic bags outside the front door which would be removed by the owner. There were no shower mats in or out of the shower and it was very difficult to use shower since the controls only provided either very hot or cold water. There was a lack of kitchen utensils to cook a meal – one spatula, one frying pan, 2 saucepans. As a minimum to describe itself as self catering property it requires a pyrex bowl, a baking tray, a grater, a sieve and some sharp knives. Unfortunately we cannot recommend the property at present and were very disappointed with our visit which we cut short.
