  • "A lovely lodge in a wonderful location."

Great for peace and quiet but close enough to some fantastic walks and activities.

  • "This lodge was beautiful and in a lovely, peaceful woodland setting."

The lodge was extremely comfortable and welcoming. Being in a remote woodland setting, we also got to experience spotting wildlife, including a Pine Marten, Hare and Badger which was a bonus! Our only criticism would be that we didn't bring any pets but it was clear from dog hair on the sofa that pets had previously stayed in the lodge and the sofa wasn't hoovered properly. Although not a big issue for us it could be for other guests, especially if they have allergies.

  • "What a lovely place!"

! Great location, super relaxing, really well maintained, stylishly decorated, spotlessly clean. One small disappointment was that the ‘king sized’ rooms only contained double beds and the mattresses were a little worn. It wouldn’t stop us returning though!

  • "Perfect holiday getaway, amenities as described, clean and comfortable, perfect base locationfor exploring the cairngorms."

Only downside and wouldn't hold it against the provider due to location is the Internet speed and possibly note in the welcome pack prior to arriving the inability to stream netflix so people can bring alternatives. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We have been working to install faster broadband and this has recently been implemented across the site to allow our guests to access streaming services. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Property Owner

The couch and chairs were very low and not supportive. The bed downstairs was so uncomfortable which was a shame because everything else was lovely. I did miss having a view from the living room.

  • "It was our second stay at the lodge."

Two years in a row in September and we are loved. The place is so well located for walkers hikers etc. Plenty of walks with the dog. The lodge itself is just brilliant nice clean and comfortable. The fire pit on the deck is perfect for spending every evening sitting by the fire till late at night. Located in the middle of the forest surrounded by beautiful Caringorms Forest and if the sky is cloud-free the amount of stars you are able to see is amazing. We are looking already to book this again for next year.

  • "This property is amazing!"

We were a family group - parents with 3 children and 2 grandparents. The bedrooms are a generous size and the twin room accommodated a large air bed with ample space to move around. The facilities were first class. The access to the woods from the rear of the property and the river beyond was amazing particularly as we were able to enjoy a few days of summer weather. Loch Insh outdoor centre - only a couple of minutes from the property - was also a favourite place to visit.

  • "Golden Eagle Lodge is well equipped and comfortable, perfect for our needs."

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Downstairs shower room is fabulous, great shower. Kitchen is good with everything we required for our stay. Living and dining area comfortable and can be made very cosy with the wood burner. Loved the covered patio too with the outdoor wood burner. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Golden Eagle lodge was a great place to stay - modern, warm, comfortable."

It could be improved with a few extra small touches, like a proper mirror in the upstairs bathroom, a bigger clothes rack and a bit more storage space upstairs. On the whole, though, it was amongst the best self-catering lets I’ve stayed in.

This was our second stay and have already booked a third. The only criticism is that the washing machine was out of order when we arrived and had been the previous week. It was not repaired before we left. It’s a really important feature if you are mountain biking.

  • "Fantastic lodges in such an idyllic setting in the heart of the Cairngorms."

Only a minutes walk from the River and the woodland itself is home to an abundance of wildlife. My boys particularly liked the fruit bats that visited when we spent the evening outdoors by the fire. Only not so positive things I would say is that the hob and oven aren't great, and the washing machine was out of action. As others had said, the wee hoover smells like pets, but I found some new bags in the utility cupboard, I think the last few guest parties had used the same bag! Took nearly 30mins to cook a shop bought pizza in the oven, and we struggled to boil an egg on the hob with average timings. Aside from that, such a beautiful place to retreat to right out in the sticks. Plenty of space with full occupancy, and enough crockery and cutlery for all. Bedding and towels superb quality and controls for heating etc were easy to navigate.

  • "Beautiful location in the woods, quiet and peaceful."

Lovely walks on the doorstep along the river and through the trees. Lots to do nearby, went paddle boarding and canoeing on Loch Insh, wildlife park nearby, Aviemore close for eating out, food etc, lots of outdoor sports. The lodge was lovely, everything new and beautifully furnished. Lots of space, loved the outdoor area with the fire, lots of parking. Comfy beds. Only criticism more mirrors needed upstairs, also more cups. Would definitely return here, best Sykes cottage yet.

  • "We were reluctant to use the vacuum cleaner as it smelt so strongly of dog hairs."

This left a very unpleasant smell in the lodge. Better signage and information is needed about recycling. Most of the other guests failed to use the correct bins for their rubbish which negated our efforts.
