STEER WELL CLEAR.
AWESOME VIEW IS THE ONLY THING GOING FOR IT. BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT WOULD COME FREELY AT OTHER PROPERTIES. ELECTRICITY- NOT KIDDING - YOU PAY FOR THE ELECTRICITY . TOWELS WIFI - RENT THE ROUTER FOR £3 AND THEN ADD A PACKAGE. TOWELS/LINIEN DON'T EXPECT TO BE LEFT SOAP OR TOILET ROLLS. AGAIN NOT JOKING. DO EXPECT TO BE VERY DISGUSTED BY THE STATE OF EVERYTHING IN THERE. IT HAS A HORRIBLE BITTY GROTTY FEEL TO IT FROM SETTEE WITH ONLY A FEW SPRINGS TO CHAIRS WITH THE STUFFING COMING OUT TO A SHOWER CUPBOARD NOT A CUBICLE WHERE YOU CAN SHOWER IN COMFORT. DON'T EXPECT THE FRIDGE TO BE LEFT ON SO DON'T TAKE ANY FOOD YOU NEED TO GET IN FRIDGE AS YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO GO COLD. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY. THESE ARE THE HOSTS THAT GIVE SCOTS A BAD NAME. DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE A BAD IMPRESSION ON YOUR HOLIDAY
We stayed at the so-called Lochead ‘Chalet’ for two nights.
We were shocked at how cheap and unimaginative the interior had been furnished. Half the furniture looked like it came from a second-hand shop and was broken. The colour brown - and not the chique type - dominated all. The sofa and the armchair felt as if one had last upholstered them 500 years ago. The kitchen was tiny and not well stocked with the necessary implements. Crockery and cutlery - again from some second hand store. The lighting was uncomfortable and not at all cosy. We were also shocked to discover that apparently the hosts count how much electricity you use and charge it to you afterwards. This is ridiculous, we have never come across that before. Wifi, too, can only be purchased at an extra cost. We were also confused as to why towels were not provided. This is a standard for any type of accommodation except the very cheapest. However this accommodation was not only not cheap but the most expensive per night of all our stays! Two silver linings have to be mentioned: the staff were friendly, ready to help and always available. And the location was nice on the banks of Loch Caolishead in total solitude. Despite the great location, we’re not coming back!
The chalet was comfortable and had everything we needed.
It is in a beautiful spot that was very peaceful. The fishing was good and we caught plenty of mackerel and dogfish. We would love to come back.
