  • "This was such a lovely cottage - cosy warm and comfortable in a delightful setting by Loch Duich."

We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The owners ( Carol and Andy) couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We were delighted to find out that the cottage was previously owned by Carol’s Great Grandmother. We enjoyed great days out to Skye, Plockton and a unique trip on the Skye-Glenelg ferry ( a ‘must’ for anyone visiting the area). The community run coffee shop in Glenelg was also a delight. We have no hesitation in recommending this gorgeous cottage and would love to come back.

It was our absolute pleasure to host you both. You are more than welcome to return anytime and thank both for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure to meet you both. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Stayed two days in summer."

"lochside" really means beside a tidal seaweed patch that isn't nice to look at, not useful for boats, and uninhabitable with midges in summer, having driven the lengths of scotland I've never seen midges like it at this location. Location is on the other side of the loch so its an age to the shop in reality on bad roads, one takeaway that was always closed while we were there. Cabin has open fire so stinks of smoke, no attempts to clean by owners, who will expect you to clean for them, or charge your card without permission to do their job. Beds are tiny and hard. Decor is 70s esq, nice thick carpets to absorb the musky smell of the fire."award winning" we all found amusing on arrival. Kids hated it as TV wouldnt work and Wifi was awful. (I know I Know but kids like wifi, reality) Trades on location but its just another rental on a row of rentals. A typical skyes property tbh should know that by now. Avoid in future. Was charged hundreds of £s without consent for a wonky picture, a ring on a coaster (I'm not making this up) and crums on a floor. Apparently cleaners in this area are not very efficient. Avoid like the plague, Scotland has so many cheaper nicer places.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. After 10 years of 'outstanding reviews and winning awards', this review speaks volumes about this family, who left the house in a dreadful state. Beautiful location if you like peace and quiet as we do. Lots of places to visit with many lovely spots for lunches. The only issue is the vast number of motor homes everywhere we went. We understand that it brings tourists to the area but was tiresome at times - even though we are tourists ourselves! Will definitely recommend

  • "Peaceful, clean cottage directly on beautiful Loch Duich."

Cute snug living room with fireplace / TV / games, nice dining area, small kitchen with great washer/dryer combo (no dishwasher), brilliant water pressure in the shower, and comfortable beds/linens. The closest shop is 30min away, so it would be nice to have an option of small grocery list (i.e. bread, milk, butter, eggs, jam, etc) to be provided at an extra charge. Very limited condiments / spices are provided for cooking, knives are all extremely dull, and all non-stick pans are flaking Teflon off. Also, no clothes detergent or softener provided for washer/dryer. Midges can get pretty bad at dawn/dusk, so having Smidge available would have been a nice extra so we could take an after dinner walk. Overall, we had a lovely stay for exploring Isle of Skye.

Thank you for a 5 star review. Our kitchen has been fully revamped and our 2024 guests are thrilled with it . Property Owner

The cottage is comfortable, deceptive size and has everything you need in a lovely holiday home - surrounded by postcard picture scenery. The only “negative” was the Wi-Fi was a slow, as we were working a faster speed would have helped, but I would hope most people aren’t distracted by the internet when in such a wonderful location!! Thank you for allowing us to us this wonderful property.

The house is on a very quiet road and in a beautiful loch side setting, surrounded by stunning views. From the beach by the house there are clear views of the dramatic 5 Sisters of Kintail and it’s possible to see Eilean Donan castle across the loch in the other direction. We loved the peace and quiet, the lovely local walks, the birds, the seals in the loch and the red deer in the hills behind. The house is comfortable and spacious with garden all around, woods behind and plenty of outdoor seating to sit and admire the views. We found it was also lovely and warm with both central heating and open fires in both reception rooms. And we were impressed with the level of cleanliness too. Communication with our host, Carol, was excellent and she had provided welcoming touches such as fresh flowers and complimentary toiletries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tigh a Phailean.

A real find! Right on the Loch side! Great for couples to get away from it all... We did! Probably one of the best walks right on your doorstep, no need to use the car to get there! Where else would you get one of the best views of the most photographed castle in scotland! You can also sit in the garden and watch the five sister, that's impressive! Would be great for kids too as there's loads of space in the cottage and garden. It also has a proper kitchen on the back which is lovely and a seating area round the back. The owner Carol was lovely and left us alone to chill! She also took the time to leave all those little extras and we really appreciated it! It's a lovely place! Would recommend!

Was lovely to sit out the front by the loch with the morning cuppa before we headed off for walking or sightseeing such as the castle on the other side of the loch! The location is a good Base for Skye. Kintail and various walks. Plus if you want to travel further a field you can from here. Just stock up on provisions before you get here but three is a good co op at Kyle which is 30 mins drive. The only niggle is the road noise across the loch but it's really just a background noise. Cottage lovely and with friendly owners. Would stay again and have already recommended it to someone.
