Again within walking distance of Anchor is Sporsnis, a sports centre which has a swimming pool, sports hall and ten pin bowling, another great family activity.
For a spot of culture, check out the wealth of art galleries and workshops in the area and stop off at the Gallery at Port of Ness known for its displays of the work of Anthony Barber.
Also close by is a nature reserve and it is only a short but scenic drive to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse.
Callanish and the Callanish Standing Stones are not far to drive and Stornoway is around the same distance.
There is plenty to see and do in and around Stornoway making it ideal for a day trip from Anchor.
