  • "Had a problem with heating ,only radiators in front room working ,after a cold night gas engineer came out the following morning, informed me radiators had been turned off!"

The owner controls the heat settings from Down south? The engineer told us how to keep boosting the heating system to keep warm, apart from this the property is very nice and a good bas for visiting the local sites and villages.

  • "Bankside Cottage Hunton We spent a fortnight in this lovely and compfortable place."

The whole cottage was very clean, warm and cosy and we felt at home imediately. Everything is of very good quality. From bed and beding, sharp kitchenknives, washing/tumbling machine, to the luxurios bathroom. The surrounding is very quiet and beautiful. A lot of shopping facilities are nearby in Caterick and we enjoyed food in the local pub. Very comfortable too we could always park our car directly in front of the cottage and wifi worked without any problems. A wonderful holiday cottage.

Had issues with heating and hot water heating was on all the time and water was luke warm could not shut fridge as the freezer top needs to be defrosted carpet looks tired and needs to be cleaned underneath very dirty cobwebs in kitchen garden was in need of a tidy up and grass wants a cut we rang Martin on Sunday no one picked up the phone plus there is no information about the heating on how to turn it down sorry it was not the best holiday with Sykes we had enough by Wednesday so we cut the holiday short

Hi Diane, I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay. Having spoken with Sykes and the couple who manage our cottage neither seem to have received a missed call or WhatsApp message throughout your stay and therefore we are shocked to read your review. The welcome pack explains where you can find the ‘Hive’ heating controller in the living room and the garden had been cut by our gardener on the 29th August on the change-over day. It is such a shame you did not enjoy your time at our cottage like so many others and had we known we would always try to get someone out to the cottage within 24 hours to sort any issues. Thank you for your review and we will always take comments on board, we hope to welcome you back in the future Property Owner

  • "Had a wonderful 5 day stay."

The cottage was as described, clean and well presented. The village of Hunton is very friendly including the local pub run by the community. The cottage came with everything we needed including a comfy bed. The only negative would be that the garden was in need of a tidy and grass over- grown meaning we couldn't make the best use of it. Would happily stay again.

Thank you for your feedback David! We are so so pleased you had a great time at Bankside Cottage. The glorious weather has got the garden in full growing mode but we will keep on top of it! We hope to see you again at Bankside Cottage soon. Property Owner

It is a situated in a beautiful location with a friendly, welcoming pub literally on the doorstep! The cottage itself was very clean and roomy, well decorated with stunning views. Also very well situated and not very far from a lovely town called Richmond with plenty to do.

  • "Had a good stay at Bankside Cottage."

Quiet location with very comfortable beds made for an excellent sleep. Well enough equipped for our stay in a nice village with pub a short stroll away if required. WiFi worked well once connected. Nice garden area if there in summer with view onto fields beyond. Great area around Hunton to explore this lovely county and not far from A1 which is a plus. The downside was heating upstairs with radiators behind large decorative covers and turned off...very cold in February! Living room also a bit 'tired', both furniture and decor, wee freshen up would definitely help... All in all a good property and an enjoyable break away.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback George. I am glad the beds allowed, I am sure, for a well deserved rest and catch up on good quality sleep. The Countryman Inn epitomises a Yorkshire Village Pub and bonus...it is community owned! I am sorry to hear you were a little cold and could not get the radiators to kick out enough heat. All heating is controlled electronically via the HIVE panel in the living room (the radiator valves are all open and not to be touched) so hopefully we can welcome you back to stay again and this would not be an issue for you. Regarding décor we would hope the cottage was a reflection of its 17th century character with modern fitments and charm. We have lots of wiggly walls and cosy sofas to curl up on. We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Bankside Cottage soon! Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely, it was in the perfect location for our trip with all the family and activities planned close by and shops etc within a convenient distance."

The neighbourhood was lovely, quiet and very nice for walking the dog when we were having a quieter day to relax. The cottage itself had everything we required in the way of kitchen utensils and the bedrooms were lovely, a clean bathroom and a lovely garden for our dog.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback Aimee. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Bankside Cottage. Hunton is a lovely village to enjoy picturesque dog walks. We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Bankside Cottage soon! Property Owner

Had issues with heating and water but other than that the cottage and surroundings were lovely communicating with sykes was a problem the cottage was very homely and comfortable

Hi Glyn, thank you for choosing to stay with us at Bankside Cottage. Great to hear you found our cottage to be homely and comfortable. We are sorry you had an issue with the heating. However, once informed of this issue we had a plumber out to you within 48 hours which resolved this. Our property manager supplied you with extra heaters immediately until the plumber arrived. Unfortunately this was out of our control and a 'winter hiccup' which we hope you agree, was handled proactively. Property Owner
