  • "This place is an absolute gem!"

Set in a quiet area within reach of a beautiful village, the barn has both a feel of a combination of an old style cottage but with a modern design. The interior is beautifully designed and is very spacious, which includes a snug area with a wood burner. The kitchen is modern and has everything you will need for preparing meals. On arrival, we found a gift basket that had numerous items (bread, bacon, butter, crisps, Prosecco, milk, eggs and Popcorn) which was a lovely touch. We only had one issue, which was we utilised the gift basket for our bread products only to find that we had had an overnight visitor which opened and pinched alot of the bread products, this wasn't a big deal for us as you are in the middle of fields so you expect that sort of thing. We did let the owners know but only for information. Luckily the weather was kind to us so we utilised the outdoor space and hot tub every day overlooking the beautiful views. Esholt itself is a loveley village, and we visited the Woolpack for evening meal which we enjoyed and is within walking distance. Cunliffe Barn was used as a base to explore the Yorkshire countryside. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable stay in a very quiet spot of Yorkshire!

  • "It was a beautiful cottage well located with great amenities in the cottage, especially with the hot tub was an added bonus."

We had lovely weather which meant we went on lovely long walks with the dogs, having the river and ship canal close lead to nice walks. You have great access to Leeds and surrounding towns from the village. Only a couple of down sides for us were: We had two dogs and there was no where secure at the property for them to go out so had to take them out on lead for toilet etc The beds although comfortable were very soft which my partner and I found different and movement impacted sleep as when one moved so did the other.

  • "What you read about this place on the website is true!"

Really comfortable, warm and extremely spacious! I'd return in a heartbeat. Comfy pillows and mattress, amazing log burner and lots of peace and quiet! There was a slight technical issue with the hot tub during my stay, but the owner was right on it and the repair was made early the next morning. Brilliant! The only minor thing I'd point out is that there were no cloths to wipe down work surfaces in the kitchen, dishwasher tablets or sponges with which to wash non-dishwasher items. But in the scheme of things when the welcome hamper was so well-stocked, just something small to pack for my next stay! Definitely 5*!

The peaceful and serene surroundings made it a wonderfully relaxing weekend away. You must take your own matches/lighter to light the log burner or outside firepit though, I wish I'd known this in advance.

  • "This was our second stay at Cunliffe Barn in as many months."

It’s very convenient for all amenities in the area and for us visiting family. The welcome pack is always very generous and very welcome. The only thing I would say this last visit was the corner sofa had been replaced with another sofa which wasn’t as comfortable as the big cushions at the back were missing and had 4 small cushions there instead there was also a big arm chair. As there were 3 adults and 2 small children in our party we found the seating wasn’t as accommodating for us.

Thanks for your feedback Steven, it is always helpful to hear guest experiences. I am sorry that you were short of black bags and tea towels, I have spoken with our team to ensure that ample supplies are left in the property. It can be a difficult decision for hot tub canopies as we do not want to distract from the views and lovely weather when we have it but we will keep this under review. It’s in a fabulous quiet location with some great facilities but the things I have pointed out before have just been ignored. I took my own bath mat this time because the bath is very slippy and I fell last time. There is no handle to grab hold of or anything. 2 dessert spoons for 4 people really isn’t good. I bought some from Asda for you! The light over the hob still isn’t working even though I pointed it out last time. Glad to see the dishwasher has been fixed though! It wouldn’t put me off going again but listening to customers surely is the right thing to do?

Thank you for providing feedback Ann, we are glad you had a lovely stay with us and I am pleased to inform that Cunliffe Barn is under new management and we have ensured that we have rectified all of your comments. We hope to see you again! Property Owner

It really is stunning, very quiet but well situated for getting out and about. Only criticism is a few maintenance issues which if rectified would make this place second to none. Light on cooker hood doesn’t work Lack of dessert spoons only 4 whilst loads of knives and forks Dishwasher top tray faulty. Was same last Nov, reported but nothing done. Needs bath mat- very slippy No washing up liquid. Not everything goes in the dishwasher! Solar light near hottub not working Apart from these minor issues highly recommend and will be back in the future.

  • "Hello we found Cunliffe Barn very well equipped, it was clean but the upholstery needs cleaning, headboard, corner sofa and chairs."

We picked the double bed but the mattress was very uncomfortable and felt like we couldn’t change our minds and go in the other bedroom as it would have meant 2 beds needed changing. The hut tub was great but couldn’t go in it for 2 days as it was raining, it would of been good if there would of been a gazebo or something over it as we still could of gone in it!. The windows outside look like they had,nt been cleaned for a while. The cottage was clean but noticed a few things, smeared kitchen window and the glass on the cooker hood was greasy where it hadn’t been cleaned properly. We walked in on the Friday and saw loads of cobwebs which needed removing with a feather duster. When you’re paying that much money on a holiday let it needs to be pristine! Loved the hamper and bits in the fridge that was a nice little touch. Bedding and duvet were very cosy. Beautifully decorated everywhere, I,ve decided the grey woodwork was gorgeous that I want it myself. Loved the ornaments & pictures. The velux windows were fantastic and let in loads of light in the bedrooms. Would definitely return, just a few things need sorting.

  • "The cottage is very charming and well situated."

The layout is perfect. The welcome hamper was a very lovely touch. The bed was so so comfortable (I’d like to take the mattress home!)We had intended to use the hot tub, but we didn’t as we felt a bit put off from what appeared to be overlooking security cameras from the property behind. The cover is also in need of replacing. Our break was a plonk down and relax for the week. We had planned some evenings in the local pub and were disappointed to find, although a stones throw away, it was closed awaiting new management. However this didn’t spoil our week as we ordered take out from the list in the welcome book left by the owner and stocked ourselves up from the very locally situated supermarkets. The property was lovely and cozy. However as noted in previous reviews there were cobwebs and some minor diy jobs needed to restore it to its full splendid potential (screw pops in the plaster work, the plinth in the kitchen broken and peeling under counter tops, the frying pan could do with replacing, the heating was a bit temperamental, some of the curtains/blinds, some soft furnishing could do with a clean and curtains rehanging and the windows could do with a clean to make the most of the views), minor issues really as overall we had a very relaxing stay with some amazing view from the property. As an add on I would love to see somewhere to hang coats and personally would have much rather have snuggle on the corner sofa watching the tv in front of the log burner in the smaller lounge with the other seating in the fab kitchen dinner. However this may only suit winter which is when we visited.

  • "A beautiful, quiet and comfortable barn in a great position."

The furnishings are fabulous and a real mix of traditional and modern. Spotlessly clean oven, microwave and hob as is the rest of the place. Nice touch with welcome pack with milk, crisps, bread, butter, biscuits and wine. The hot tub is just heaven and the dressing gowns very useful when walking across the garden to it. There is no mention in the description of it having a dishwasher (which was a bonus) and although we didn’t use them, the washer and tumble dryer would be very useful if walking, cycling etc in inclement weather. Constant hot water was great but the central heating seemed to have a mind of its own sometimes some radiators hot and others cold. Minor negatives were a lack of plastic glasses to use outside ( not a good idea to use glass) and in the hot tub and complete lack of suitable dishes to use in the microwave. Also think the mattress in the king size bed has seen better days and should be replaced. Apart from these it really is a lovely place and would definitely stay again.

It was exactly as advertised, in a very peaceful and quiet area. The Barn its self was very spacious, easily big enough for 4 people. We loved everything about it and would definitely visit again, if I had to complain the only issues I would highlight would be that there was quite a few cob-webs that could do to be removed and just small areas that have been repaired that could do to be 'touched up'. Apart from that it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Not given 10/10 as for us the lack of a blind in the bedroom and thin curtains meant bedtime was tricky (we went in may so light at 5am and not dark until 9-10pm & travelled with a 10 month old and 2 year old so may not be an issue for others!) and lack of a dining table was disappointing - there is a counter with stools but not enough space for 4 adults to comfortably eat together which was a shame as the house was otherwise very spacious. Cots & highchair provided which was a plus. Thanks for a nice stay.

Big towels and dressing gowns are provided. No guest book, so here are some tips for during your stay: Science and Media Museum in Bradford worth a visit, there’s a great cafe called cake Ole very close by-we loved that cafe and they also have branches in two local towns. ... comfortable , well equipped and perfect for a lazy weekend for just the two of us. The only points we would flag up are about the hot tub . Which was one of the main reasons we book this cottage as we didn’t want to do anything all weekend. We would have appreciated the hot tub to have been ready to be used on our first afternoon at the cottage but it wasn’t ready until the Saturday morning. Also having spent most of Saturday in the hot tub we both found that three days later and numerous showers we are still really itchy and my partners skins has been really affected in some areas. We feel there must have been too much chlorine used? It smelt very strong but presumed it was normal at the time. The property

Picturesque converted barn, located in the West Yorkshire village of Esholt.

The property combines stylish modern interior with a homely feel, and it’s perfect for couples wishing to take in Esholt and the nearby countryside.

Staying at Cunliffe Barn really will provide guests with the feeling that they are in a home away from home, and its two sitting rooms really emphasise this.

Both contain comfortable seating, but they differ in what else is on offer, the first features a beautiful woodbuner, an ideal spot during the winter months.

While the second which forms part of the open-plan living area features a Smart TV and also a radio, which helps to bring you and your loved ones closer together.

Situated behind is the stylish kitchen/diner, complete with breakfast bar.

The final room on the ground floor is the utility room.

Upstairs are the property’s two double bedrooms, both of which provide views overlooking the garden, a nice way to start your day.

Also located on the first floor is the bathroom.

Relaxation continues to be the main theme as you open up the doors to the garden, as located at the end of it is the hot tub, so after a nice meal, why not take the party outside and maybe indulge in a glass of bubbly?

There’s also a patio area with a table and chairs should you fancy an alternative to dining on the breakfast bar.

Located just a six-minute walk from Cunliffe Barn is The Woolpack pub, which guests may know from the hit television series Emmerdale.

Despite its fame, the pub is open to the public and it offers a good range of food and drinks, so whether you’re a fan of the show or not, it’s still well worth visiting.

There are plenty of other activities in and around the area, with golfers recommended to take in a round at the nearby Bradford Park Golf Club, while fans of the countryside should visit the Yorkshire Dale National Park, located just 16 miles away.

Meanwhile the city of Leeds offers great shops, restaurants and nightlife, and is only 12 miles away.

So if you want to combine a busy stay in the Yorkshire area with ultimate relaxation then Cunliffe Barn is the place to go.

About the location

ESHOLT

Bradford 6 miles; Leeds 12 miles

Esholt is a quaint little village resting peacefully between Shipley and Guiseley, in the metropolitan district of the City of Bradford. Interestingly, the village was once used to film scenes for the soap opera 'Emmerdale' from 1976 to 1997, until they moved to a purpose built replica of Esholt, on the Harewood Estate; pleasant walks amble through the village, where you can stop off for a refreshing drink at the local pub on the way; The Woolpack, once used for filming, is situated in the heart of Esholt, serving delicious drinks, food and a friendly atmosphere. Close by is the West Yorkshire town of Shipley, situated near Bradford, with the River Aire running through. Saltaire, a village located in Shipley is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site and it is famous for the Victorian era Salts Mill, which can be found close to the River Aire. The thriving city of Leeds is further afield with many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as many attractions worth a visit including Harewood House, Roundhay Park and Kirkstall Abbey, while the North Yorkshire Dales are 16 miles to the north, a vast area of beauty encompassing thousands of square miles of far-reaching moors, rolling valleys and charm-filled villages.
