The Rattle Owl is situated in Micklegate, one of the most historic streets in the city, boasting a beautifully raw interior, a cosy atmosphere and a contemporary seasonal menu.
The Rattle Owl, York
The seasonal menu created by Head Chef Tom Heywood is inspired by the abundance of fresh vegetables available in Yorkshire and the wines have been chosen to properly match the cuisine.
The Rattle Owl’s 6- or 8-course tasting menus showcase the abundance of local sources, including a variety of foraged foods by the chefs. Alternatively, their two- or three-course Sunday lunch menu is considered one of York’s greatest Sunday roasts.
Owner Clarrie O’ Callaghan refurbished the 17th-century structure, which earned a York Design Award. Its rustic, bright, and spacious decor, complete with original parquet flooring, exudes a pleasant modern vibe that is matched by the kind and welcoming personnel.
