With its exposed beams, stone-flagged floor, and welcoming fire, Tan Hill Inn stands alone on a lonely hill high in the Yorkshire Dales.
Tan Hill Inn
The Tan Hill Inn, at 1,732 feet (528 metres) above sea level, is famously Britain’s highest pub. Located in Swaledale, near Keld, the inn is great for walkers and cyclists to rub shoulders with like-minded people against the backdrop of some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK.
Tan Hill Inn has hosted a couple of famous faces in addition to its claim to fame as England’s highest pub. In 2008, pub patrons were treated to an unexpected Arctic Monkeys performance, making it the UK’s highest gig venue!
