Our Grasmere Travel Guide includes… Places to stay, things to do and how to get to Grasmere
Grasmere is a picture-perfect village resting aside a lake of the same name, overlooked by the dramatic Helm Crag.
This part of Cumbria is forever linked to the world-renowned Lakeland poets, most notably William Wordsworth. Each year, many make the pilgrimage to Dove Cottage in Grasmere, where some of Wordsworth’s most famous works were written.
The mesmerising landscape of Wordsworth’s ‘native mountains’ seems brimming with a kind of natural poetry itself. With the sound of lake waters lapping on the shore and the dappled sunlight across the fells, this is a location not to be missed.
From towering peaks to tasty treats, a holiday in Grasmere would also not be complete without a taste of the famous Grasmere Gingerbread that’s been made here since the mid-19th century.
