Our Eyam Travel Guide includes… Places to stay, things to do and how to get to Eyam
Eyam is a historical village in the Peak District National Park with a homely atmosphere and welcoming locals. The civil parish is steeped in history, known in the 17th century as the village who selflessly defeated the plague by shutting themselves away from the outside world to stop it spreading.
The village is now a popular destination for walkers, acting as a break in many of the great Peak District walking trails. The town centre consists of many traditional stoned buildings with a quaint country pub, several local shops and tearooms which are all very hospitable of visitors.
Another attraction in the village is the Eyam Museum. Created and run by locals in the village, the museum is a great source of education to learn more about the village’s fight during the plague and how the whole community rallied together in a time of crisis.
