Allan Bank, Grasmere
Allan Bank is a Grade II-listed villa that dates back to the Georgian period. You can find this National Trust delight on the edges of Grasmere.
It’s best known for being the Wordsworth family home as well as housing Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Nowadays, visitors can come and see the now-empty manor house and its beautiful grounds.
When coming to Allan Bank, the best thing to do is kick back and unwind on the grass with a self-serve tea or coffee. After unwinding, make your way inside to find the current artist in residence’s temporary exhibition.
Once you’ve admired the stunning beautiful artwork on display, why not embark on the woodland walk? The family-friendly walk offers sweeping views over to Grasmere as well as glimpses of red squirrels.
Alternatively, if you’re visiting with little ones, why not get creative and help yourself to the art materials? Take inspiration from your glorious surroundings and the artist’s work, and create your very own masterpiece.
Enjoy a unique day out at Allan Bank…
