The Strathclyde Country Park is a great route for all ages and abilities. Found in Motherwell in Scotland, it provides the perfect way to explore the many natural beauty spots of the area.

You can also expect to see plenty of historic points of interest, as well as attractions for the little ones including a theme park and sandy beach.

Nature trails and watersports. You can also take guided nature walks to ensure you see the very best that the park has to offer.

Directions

Begin from the south of the Strathclyde Loch and follow the route clockwise along the footpath next to the shore.
Follow the path, passing structures representing the various rowing events that have taken place here (including the Commonwealth Rowing Championships in 2007, and the National Rowing Championships in July 2010).
Venture past M&Ds Theme Park on your left and follow the footpath running adjacent to the loch.
Follow the route to find South Calder Water, and head left to reach a footbridge across the river. Cross the bridge and turn immediately right to reach the ruins of Bothwellhaugh Roman Baths.
Continue before entering a woodland area, following the path as it eventually curves left and away from the loch shore.
Reach a grassy area, complete with a sandy beach, perfect for the little ones to stop and play.
Remain on the shoreside path and head back towards the Watersports Centre.
Pass the Piper Alpha Disaster memorial and arrive back at the car park you started at.
