Corris Steam Railway & Museum
The Corris Railway dates back to the 1850s, when it was used as a horse and gravity worked tramroad carrying slate from the quarries of Corris Uchaf and Aberllefenni in southern Merionethshire to the nearest navigable point on the Afon Dyfi.
These days the railway is open to visitors between Easter and the end of October, where scheduled services run on Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holidays and select weekdays throughout the summer. The journey takes around 50 minutes and trains leave five times a day.
On operating days, the museum is also open. Housed in an old railway stable, visitors can learn more about the history of the railway and view some historic pieces. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are also served in the museum building.
