Traeth Porth Wen Beach
Positioned just a few miles west of the popular Bull Bay, Traeth Porth Wen Beach is a fascinating hidden cove. Home to the Porth Wen Brickworks, a Victorian brickworks built to support steel production. The brickworks closed at the start of WWI and remains today as a reminder of the region’s industrial past.
As well as history hunting, Porth Wen Beach is also popular for fishing with whiting, dogfish and conger eels serving as the catch. Sea swimming is also popular here thanks to its sheltered location and calm waters.
Access to this remote beach is not for the faint-hearted due to the steep descent to reach it. There are also no facilities here, so packing some essentials is advised.
A fascinating visit awaits here…
