Maes Hiraddug North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve

During the spring and summer months, Maes Hiraddug bursts into bright and colourful life as the wildflowers bloom.

The reserve reflects what the countryside would have looked like hundreds of years ago when traditional hay meadows across the country would have bloomed.

Local volunteers have continued centuries of traditional practices and worked to preserve the reserve, resulting in over 142 different plant species inhabiting the grassland and nearby woodland.

The flowering plants in particular hold an important role in supporting honeybees and bumblebees. Bees are not the only wildlife you can expect to see.

During the warmer months, you can spot butterflies including large skipper, common blue, comma, meadow brown, peacock, and speckled wood varieties.

Maes Hiraddug North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve promises to be a great day out…
