The Calf
Head to The Calf in the Howgill Fells for breath-taking views and a challenging walk. The summit is a grassy plateau and features a small tarn, or mountain lake. The Howgills are nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, offering incredible views from every angle.
The most common way to access The Calf is via a path from Sedbergh and most visitors take this route back. Although a great alternative is to descend northeast and head to the top of Cautley Spout, then take a steep path down the fellside to the north of the waterfalls.
