Glenariff Forest Park

Directions

1. The route is clearly marked with signs starting from the car park and along the trail.
2. Begin by following the trail which leads down the Inver River gorge, taking you close to the Ess-na-Crub Waterfall. This section winds through mature woodland with a diverse array of woodland plants, including vibrant bluebells.
3. After crossing the river at the trail’s base, embark on a gradual ascent that spans approximately 1.1 kilometers. This uphill stretch starts at around 60 meters above sea level and steadily climbs to 260 meters.
4. As you ascend to the upper portions of the trail, relish panoramic views of the Glens and the captivating Mull of Kintyre across the sea.
5. Upon reaching the trail’s highest point, ford the upper sections of the Glenariff river. Here, the terrain transitions to peat moorland, offering a unique landscape to explore.
6. On your return journey, savor breathtaking vistas overlooking the Glen as it extends to the coastline and the expansive sea beyond.
7. Keep in mind that these walks are located within an active forest environment, and occasional diversions or closures may be in effect.
