Travel to Cartmel by road
Getting to Cartmel by road takes around five hours from London and the South East of England. It is about 90 minutes by car from Manchester.
The M6 motorway is to the east of the Lake District, use this route coming from the north or south. Leave the motorway at exit Junction 36 and head along the A590 in the direction of Barrow-in-Furness.
At the Meathop roundabout, take the right exit following the brown-coloured signs for Cartmel Priory. This road will bring you directly into the village.

Travelling to Cartmel by train
The closest railway station to the village is Oxenholme, which connects to the West Coast mainline London to Carlisle and Glasgow service via Penrith. Another option is to take a train from Lancaster to Grange-Over-Sands then a taxi for the three miles to Cartmel village.
