Travel to Dumfries and Galloway by road
If you’re travelling to Dumfries and Galloway from the south, either take the M1 from London, or the M5 from the south west, and then link up with the M6 which will take you into Scotland before coming off on the A75.

Travel to Dumfries and Galloway by train
Trains to Dumfries take you along the River Nith, its railway station lying on the Glasgow South Western Line with regular trains running from Carlisle.
The main Edinburgh to London rail route stops at Lockerbie, while Carlisle runs a service to Kilmarnock and Glasgow that stops at multiple stations in Dumfries and Galloway.
Regular trains also run between Stranraer and Ayr, with many continuing on to Glasgow Central.

Travel to Dumfries and Galloway by plane
Dumfries and Galloway is easily accessible from several airports, each roughly one and a half hour’s drive away and serving both domestic and international flights. The options are Glasgow International, Glasgow Prestwick, Edinburgh, and Newcastle and can be a faster alternative to travelling by train or car.
