Conishead Priory
Conishead Priory is a 19th-century former home, hydropathic hotel, and hospital, sitting on the site of a 12th century Augustinian Priory. Today, it is home to the Manjushri Buddhist Centre, an internationally renowned centre for modern Kadampa Buddhism.
Visitors are welcome to enter the onsite temple between 11am and 5pm to view the magnificent statues and other blessed objects. There are also daily guided meditation sessions to take part in.
Conishead Priory is also surrounded by 70 acres of lush grounds and visitors are welcome to walk through the woodland and past its lake and streams. You can also walk to Conishead Priory’s enchanting beach on the shores of Morecambe Bay. The grounds are open from dawn until dusk.
Conishead Priory also boasts a café on the grounds, serving up soup, cakes and drinks.
