Travel to County Donegal by road
If you’re travelling to County Donegal from a location within Ireland, journeying by road is the most direct route. Travelling from Belfast or the East take the M1 Westbound, this will eventually become the A4. Follow the A5 until Omagh where you should pick up the B4. Drive along the B4 until you reach Kesh, change for the A35 which will lead you to the Irish border, at this point the A35 becomes the R232 will which take you straight to County Donegal.
If you are travelling from the Republic of Ireland in the South, there are numerous routes you can take. If travelling from the West of the ROI head towards Sligo via the N4 and then change for the N15 which will take you directly to the county. If travelling from Dublin or the East of the ROI, take the N2 to Monagahan and then the N13 or N14 provides the most direct route via road to County Donegal.
Travel to County Donegal by bus
Bus Éireann provides a number of regular daily services to Donegal Town and Letterkenny, starting in Dublin the route heads west via Sligo and can be picked up at a number of stops along the way.

A number of private coach companies also offer services from Dublin or Belfast to Donegal Town, either direct or with multiple stops if you prefer a scenic route. Look for coach travel online to find a route which best suits you.
Travel to County Donegal by plane
Despite being relatively remote, County Donegal is serviced by a small airport in Carrickfinn which has been awarded for being one of the most scenic air approaches in the world. Flights operate out of Dublin Airport twice daily and Glasgow Airport six times a week.
