Travel to Freshwater by ferry
Ferry connections between the mainland and the Isle of Wight are located to the West and North of the island. Ferries run from Yarmouth, Cowes and East Cowes, Ryde and Fishbourne to ports on the mainland.
Operators include Wight Link and Red Funnel.
Travel to Freshwater by bus
Southern Vectis operates well-connected and regular scheduled bus services, including routes covering towns and villages across the Isle of Wight. If arriving on the island to the ferry ports of Cowes, East Cowes, or Ryde, travel to Newport and get a connection from there.
If you’re travelling to Freshwater from the West of the island, use either the No 7 or No 12 services.

Travel to Freshwater by road and rail
Visitors have the option of taking a car ferry between Lymington and Yarmouth, or using Enterprise car hire, whose HQ is in Newport. Routes to Freshwater are well signposted in all directions.
If you’d prefer to take a scenic rail detour, then a through service from London Waterloo, a ferry, then the Island Line Train Service will cover part of your journey.
